    I saw this movie at the Quad on W 13th this past evening. It is really a brilliant movie. I don't think this trailer gives the story or the actors their due. It is the most quietly intense movies I have ever seen, so many layers, wonderful story telling, incredible performances all around. Thank you to you all and in Hebrew and German

    I saw this film yesterday and I cried so hard! Even when I remember certain scenes, tears come out again. Tim Kalkhof is absolutely fantastic. Only german actors like him or Franka Potente moved me so deeply. I'm wondering why...

    A tale that is replete with the sumptuous scent of baking: pastries sorrowfully shaped and steeped in suffering and sensuality.
    This is a simply stunning film: the plot is a passionate and poetical web of dangerously desperate desire to fill the void of loss. The protagonist undertakes a perilous journey to be close to the family and foreign environment of his deceased lover. A pitilessly painful film devoid of all sentimentality; maybe you need to have experienced a similar situation to fully appreciate its true depth and diameter…
    Tim Kalkhof and Sarah Adler are consummately convincing. I give it ten scintillating, celestial stars.

    I totally judged (in a bad way) this movie because why the hell does he have a face to go to the families? After i watched it. It's good... It was brilliant. You really need to see the film. I understand him now. The actor for the role of "Thomas" is really great. I love the ending. I alway thought why not call him and get together since i felt they already loved each other, but i guess that is also a good decision not to approach him but heart breaking tho.

    If someone could explain to me - sorry SPOILERS - how did the police find out she wasn't kosher, I'd appreciate it. And what was not kosher in the first place? The oven using no one knew about? Or the "other" thing they did in the kitchen? I'm not fluent in Judaism obviously, so feel free to elaborate.

    • @CP-tq7id
      @CP-tq7id 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas is not Jewish and therefore anything he makes is not kosher. Since the pastries didn’t show up until Thomas got there, the community put two and two together and realized that the very obviously non Jewish baker was cooking in the kosher cafe. To be fair , Moti gave several warnings to Anat about it but that’s the thing about love, it changes our priorities.

      I'm aware that there are still people who do this. But just because there are people who do that, it does not mean that it has to be tolerated. There is also something like torture, so you have to shoot a film about where that is tolerated? I mean, the movie itself does not mean anything at first, neither good nor bad about adultery. He just describes it. What is frightening are the reactions of the people here. What a twisted society, which also finds the bad good. Put yourself in the position of the woman. But wait, I just think because the husband had a homosexual affair, it does not make it so bad anymore and we have to "tolerate" that. Just this society.

      ich denke in dem film geht es darum, eine „schlechte“/ moralisch verwerfliche tat wiedergutzumachen. das, was deutschland noch immer vergeblich versucht. und dass das gar nicht so leicht ist, wie man annimmt, auch wenn man sich noch so sehr bemüht. und es geht um aufarbeitung auf beiden seiten. um menschlichkeit und liebe, die von tief innen kommt, ich kann den film nur empfehlen.

      Unabhängig davon, ob der Ehemann seine Frau nun mit einem Mann oder mit einer Frau betrogen hat, letzendlich hat er sie betrogen. Man kann die Perspektive natürlich so drehen, dass die Situation aus dem Blickwinkel der Männer aus harmlos erscheint, *Ironie an* die beiden haben sich doch nur ,,geliebt" und konnten ja nicht anders. *Ironie aus*
      Aber sieht man die Perspektive von der Frau, sieht es ganz bitter aus. Wie muss sie sich fühlen?
      Was hat das mit Liebe zu tun? Mit Menschlichkeit? Rein garnichts.
      Nicht nur, dass in diesem Film Homosexualität mehr als toleriert, nein sogar verschönert und empfohlen wird, es wird die Ehe zwischen Mann und Frau in den Dreck gezogen und als eine Art ,,veraltetes langweiliges Model" dargestellt.
      Ich bin seid 2 Jahren verheiratet. Was ich mir von Bekannten und Arbeitskollegen für Sprüche anhören musste. ,,Wer will denn heutzutage noch heiraten. Nur eine Person ein Leben lang hält man doch nicht aus..etc"

    Super boring movie. The lead character says only a handful of lines for the entire movie, playing up Germanic stoicism. It tried to be one of those minimalist indy films but it fell flat. This film got so many accolades because of its filming location and focus on Jewish culture, but the script was mediocre. And the hetero sex scene was so random and didn't add anything.
