The handle is made by Gillette and is a replica of a 1930’s Gillette handle. The head is a Muhle R89, simply because Gillette doesn’t currently have the equipment to make the head. This is Gillette’s feel into the traditional shaving market. If all goes well they plan on making a selection of new DE razors. I got this info from a friend who has worked a Gillette for decades. It gives a great shave.

I have this razor and I like it a lot! I think it’s an excellent beginner’s razor and travel razor in one!
I’d personally recommend this over the DE89 or 34C because of the case and lower-profile head, which is a little better for under the nose and ear shaving, IMO. It has a great grip, (better knurling than the base-model DE89 or R89 offerings, IMO).
I’m pretty sure it’s a Muhle R89 cap & plate. I own an R106 and a R108, along with a Jagger DE89 knurled model, I can tell you visually, dimensionally, and shave-wise, the heritage cap & plate are identical in every way to my Muhle razors, which is great news, IMO.
If you were to break the threads on the cap, you can order new parts from Muhle. I’ve even swapped heads & handles between my Muhles and Heritage and shaved with them, they performed identically!
If you study/compare the Jagger & Muhle heads, there are subtle differences, the caps are just a tiny bit different if you look at them from the sides, additionally, the drain slots on the plates are subtly different as well. My experience has also been that the Muhle cap & plate is slightly more aggressive/efficient, enough to where I prefer the Muhle over the Jagger.
I use one of my Muhles or Heritage every shave for detailing, beard & eyebrow-shaping and shaving my ears, plus shaving little bits around my ears my more aggressive yet less precise razors can’t quite reach, specifically the resin-handled models, the R106, 107 & 108, or the Heritage, they are my absolute favorite for that job!
Just my unsolicited $.02 on the matter. 😂
I wish all you gentlemen a great weekend & happy shaving! Be kind & patient with each other, the world needs more of that!

Chris, Gillette is already making billions on their cartridges. My guess about why they're apparently competing with themselves is that they fear this wet-shaving trend may go viral, and they want to be prepared, should that happen.

The Heritage works well for me, I enjoy it. I will be keeping it in my rotation.

I got one of these and the threads in the handle were way to tight. Had to put some oil and force it to go on. Going to have my buddy run a metal tap to clean up the threads and see if that helps it. It's obvious that it was made in two different factories as they don't fit well. And yes it's identical to my DE89 Edwin Jagger but feels more tame.

While Mühle does have an R89, the usual comparison to the Jagger DE 89 is the Mühle 34 C .
    The M R89 is a bit more agressive/efficient than the 34 C

It's like Edwin Jagger putting a Gillette Tech head on a razor and calling it a "Heritage". Really does not make all that much sense.

There's only a limited number of designs for a razor head.

@@MrPAULONEAL so use a Tech head. Gillette should have more imagination than that.
