@NoahCline thank you very much. I just learned this tune. I've tried to learn it before a couple years ago, but I couldn't get it figured out. I learn entirely by ear, so I have to experiment to learn tunes. Thanks for the comments.

Im always interested in alternative designs for violins . For fiddle tunes anyway the higher finger positions aren't needed most times . I do notice that the higher positions may be constrained by the thickness of the box but i like it .

Yes, this box does make playing difficult. I think having a longer neck and placing the bridge more towards the middle would make reaching the neck quite a bit easier. It sounds really good in person due to the deep box, but it is difficult to play.
