On reflection: Is it just me or does Hermann the chef have that big knife facing the wrong way? Looks a bit dangerous? 🫣 ...Keith Floyd would be very angry with him! 🤣 (I guess it's because he is sharpening it). ☺️
Being a modeler, we tend to hoard references (through media & thought) and funnily enough having been a reenactor Ai became obsessed with the Gulashkannone, and thankfully our "sister" unit was .2 Panzer, who not only had various vehicles but had an actual field kitchen. I couldn't get over how utilitarian and over engineered it was. So I volunteered to do KP over the weekend. We'll the gentlemen who was the steward of said Gulashkannone was the author of one of the best references on the subject. The guy literally wrote the book on this underrated piece of warfare. So I'm honestly excited for this video. It's so weird what you retain. So please Mr. Oxley, accept this apology for the lengthy "Thank You!!" deposited for this episode.
Love your reviews of these off the wall ICM kits. Always top notch , but we expect that of you. But saying that! In my view ICM should concentrate on what they do best, conventional well detailed historically correct kits. And leave the diorama kits to the absolute masters of this genre. Miniart. They specialise In this media. Ie they can give you a hundred road signs from the wartime era all authentic all incredibly detailed, no flash no tongue in cheek! Just as they were. Yes admittedly you’ll pay for it. Depends on how authentic you want your diorama.
Equally disastrous for the 2nd cook pooring petrol into the cauldron instead of water, won't earn him his iron cross for sure... Love the review Peter, guess I'll have to buy one now for the würste included in the kit 😄
😢 missed the vid till this morning as watching something on Maginot line 😊 Just bought a Tamiya 1/48 FW190 ( plus etch etc 😉 ). Not seen you review this kit, but does have ALL the markings at least, any thoughts on this kit please Peter?
@@Peter-Oxley-Modelling-Lab I agree the muppet show has alot to answer for, I wonder if they'll do a range of 1/35 food items, especially a chicken 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think the anti-swastika folks have had their day. In this era of home laser printing, scanning, 3D printing there's nothing to stop Neanderthal wanna-be Nazis printing their own and doing whatever with them. The rest of us (99.9%) who just want to do models, etc, historically correct shouldn't have to wear the inconvenience. I've just had to source a sheet of 1/72 swastikas (in 8 different styles & sizes) to finish up several models. Ok, it's not massively expensive but damn annoying all the same. Can we grow up now - tiny waterslide decals won't bring on the fourth reich. Rant complete. BTW - I have the Tamiya field kitchen with the horses. Bought it 35 years ago, probably about time to build it!
Agreed we’re really moving to a very 1984-esque uber-authoritarian world. History doctored and thrown away -why- so the current nazi-esque political class can impose their will and views?
The problem we have is idiot politicians and media, like the bbc, calling everyone who disagrees with them far right and associating them with n*zis. The result is people are terrified of using the swastika on anything ww2 related as said media wil jump on them or even delete you tube videos. Especially when lefty activists will also demand they be removed as they are upset by said symbols. Im glad some firms like Tamiya hold out and the likes of Mark Felton present history as it was on you tube.

If it was Keith Floyd there would be at least two crates of finest red beaujolais on hand.
I needed a good laugh today…Thanks Peter! “You are always most welcome”
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻

Looks like a very nice set. Cheers Peter.
It is! 👍🏻
I think it’s Hermann Göring in his final disguise before he got captured by the yanks.
With the right painting skills one can make a nice diorama from this.
Very true! 👍🏻
The good set of figures really make the set.

🤣👍🏻
Peter use your camera phone and Google translate and the Hun ham will materialise before your very eyes.
Useful for menus when abroad 👍
Thanks, though I did know this, but my memory failed me...🫢
Sorry we didn't have a live chat tonight guys, an error by me...shame as this is a nice & very amusing kit! We would have had MANY laughs! 😂

The Field Kitchen was featured in Combat Dealers with Bruce Compton.
Yes indeed, that was mentioned early in the vid. 👍🏻
The four containers that are shaped like a racetrack when viewed from above were for carrying "soup" to the troops and keeping it hot.
Stop hamming it up!! Peter. 🤣😂
White cross painted on jerrycans means water in WW2 German parlance.
Hi Peter didnt Tamiya make a similar kit in the late 1970s in 1/35 scale
@@MichaelCampin Yes indeed but the figures not as varied or amusing as these...

That's a cool kit. I can smell the vienersnitzel , I butchered that spelling...pun intended....
