@@GFrom Subscribing for this video and comment alone! Been feeling quite ill today but watching this really made me forget about it all for a good hour or so!
I'm on a Tomb Raider binge which led me to your channel, for which I'm grateful! Love your style, passion for the game and all your personal anecdotes :D
Read your comment and since your are binging Tomb Raider reviews I can also realy recommend you to watch the retrospectives of a youtube channel called Steveofwarr 🙂 his reviews are also very good and you will enjoy them very much 🤟
That sense of isolation was a huge reason I loved this game so much. I hope they get back to that and away from the human enemies and support crews. It could be a thing, her guides and support always die at the start and she is left alone. They'd get to be like Kenny from South Park. :D Loved the retrospective and this game is an absolute favorite of mine too. I was sixteen when it came out and I'm a female. Lara was an inspiration. I loved her fearlessness.
I have similar experience. As i played Tomb Raider with my dad. I also blame the dark monitor for many issues when we were stuck. I remember that we closed the window, etc to make the room darker, so the monitor is more visible. Also my dad brought home printed walkthroughs, because we were just stuck. The only difference is that we started with TR4 and i love that one, basically my first proper 3D game.
I remember when I was a kid, me and my brother was watching this Danish TV programme called "Troldspejlet" which was really the only show on TV that covered video game and where you could actually see gameplay from them. One day they did a review of a PS1 game called "Pandemonium" and in the footage there was this girl protagonist that would bounce on these giant watermelons. We didn't catch the name of the game though but we really wanted to play it. So the following weekend my mom took us to the video rental store to see if they had it. My brother would sprint over the counter and demand that we got that playstation game with that lady that jumped around with the huge melons... So naturally the game we got was Tomb Raider xD
This is such a timeless classic, a game that amazes me even still after all these years and the times I've completed it. Definitely one of the, if not THE best TR game. Love it, and watching your video makes me want to return to it... again 😁
I actually love Natla Mines. Exploring and trying to figure out how to get the weapons back, where the fuses are, interesting environmental puzzles to get to the 3 bosses and paying them back by loading bullets into them for me overall was one of the best games experiences. My fav level tho is Palace Midas, followed by St Francis Folly and Obelisk of Kahmoon.
I agree with you. The music is absolutely stunning. I share with you the same feeling which is difficult to put words to - probably a core memory from also playing with/watching my mum play
thanks so much for your wonderful review of our beloved game that started it all! in 96' i was playing "Rise of the Triad" Terminal Reality game. FPS, bounce pads,"shroom" mushrooms, "dog mode" & i got TR1. what a blast! truely the game that changed everything.watched a vid about Toby Gard,Gavin,Paul,Heather Gibson,Neil Boyd making TR1 & those cats were brilliant, wow!
Just finished TR1 on PC. It was interesting to get your hands on it after 25 years! And yes, it is still great game! I played it with an upgrade called CROFTENGINE, so the in-game music is also included, the image is adapted to the wide monitors, and the graphic is also improved. The water is wonderful. There is also a depth of field effect. But I don't recommend turning on the dynamic lights because they eliminate the shadow maps. I like TR games if they are a bit pixelated, there is an option for that too. I'm sorry that Croftengine is only compatible with TR1, it would be nice to be able to play all TR sequels like this. But I'll play them again nevertheless, now I'm starting TR2 :) I hate rebooted trilogy (Tomb Rambo...). The atmosphere is too brutal in there. But I don't like Lara's movements in the post-TR5 sequels either. The movements in TR1-TR5 are really beautiful and believable, here I feel that Lara belongs in the 3D space. This feeling disappears with the new parts.
Great review. Tomb raider 1 is a classic. TR1 TR2 TR3 and TR4 are my favorites in the series. Legend and anniversary were good but not as good as the first four Imo. TR 2013 and rise are great to. I liked most of the games pretty much expect chronicles, angel of darkness and underworld. I will always love this series along with the metal gear solid, final fantasy, tekken, kingdom hearts, resident evil and silent Hill. Its also great to see you back! Stay awesome
Cistern is one of my favourite levels! The scale of a main hall, a lot of keys, all the watter puzzles - I really enjoyed that, and I was really pissed when it was cut out n the anniversary.
I started with Tomb Raider 2 on the PC when I was 15 and it was totally fascinating to me. The atmosphere was insane, and I was a little shocked that this woman would kill so many people and animals, that were my feelings 20 years ago. I also became a fan of the series and played it with joy for many years.
@@GFrom I played TR2 again a few month ago and made it to the Barkhang Monastery but then I lost interest unfort. but it was still enjoyable. I played this game already to death in the past, so it's okay.
Just want you to know that I thoroughly enjoy revisiting these videos of yours, they're still 10/10 content 👌 the nostalgia and personal relatability with the stories of playing it as a kid reeeeally take me back. You're awesome, G-From! And so is old-school TR.
Tomb Raider was the 1st 3d game i ever played as well when my mum got me a PS1 along with this game for Christmas when i was a kid and i still sometimes enjoy playing it on PC today with the automated fix mod.
Great review! I will never forget the excitement I had, when I finally got my hands on this as a kid in 96. I had looked at the previews and knew I wanted it. Just being amazed at how different this game was. 3D games were still relatively new, and to see a game like this, with a character like LARA..blew my mind. Even now, I can still appreciate the amount of details put into crafting each level, I could appreciate the grid system inside of TR for what it was doing, and everything they did really made it have its own identity. The music, and everything...just good times all around. I miss THIS Lara/Tomb Raider.
Dude, that was really, really good! The last time I watched a video over 30 minutes on TH-cam was probably 10 years ago... That and I don't like reviews but this was heartfelt and I could tell! Hope to one day see your TR3 video! I did a random story of this game twice and 2 and done a part 3 which are the so bad looking back.... I have a random stories remade for 2 and 3 but it got my channel a strike and I just don't want to have to re voice it!... Great video, buddy!
Just watched this and your TR2 review. These were really enjoyable videos to watch, man. Thank you for the content. I grew up with the original Tomb Raider and have stuck with the series ever since. The original three are pure magic and I can never get tired of discussing them. Please do one for Tomb Raider 3! I would love to hear more of your thoughts. The Nevada section in that game are some of my favorite levels in gaming.
The main theme and Longing for home are my favorite songs, not from TR1, but from the whole franchise. This is the most important and favorite game in my life. My parents bought me the Saturn because I saw a VHS promo for the Sega Saturn at a friend's house and it had the intro from Panzer Dragoon and the gameplay of Virtua Fighter, and I was mesmerized and got totally obsessed. But when TR came out, and I bought it, I think that that was my most magical and amazing experience with the video games. The best part, is that it lasted months, because at that time there was no internet, no TH-cam, no playthroughs... and the guides were expensive and I found them uninteresting. One of my favorite levels is the cistern, because I got stuck there for almost a month, because I totally missed an underwater passage who led to a switch. When I finally found it, that was magical. The way the devs took advantage of the blocky graphics and low res textures, to force exploration and make you to get lost, was amazing. That's why better graphics make TR a worse experience, because natural features look more natural, and artificial features more artificial, so devs have to paint the things you can grab. That way the path is always more obvious. And I love puzzles, but I love much much more to explore and get lost. I really hate obvious paths. It makes the experience so flat... Guess why I bought the PSX... because the rest of the TR were for the Sony's console. Just for that reason. And I even bought the first one for the PSX. At that time I had my first job (16 years old) and I could afford all of that. One of the fun facts about this game is that it's got its own Mandela effect, very famous: the room with the two bridges at Peru, many people have got a very vivid memory of one of the two bridges collapsing. That never happened, but I am one of those people. I'd swear to God that one of the bridges collapsed. It's the only Mandela effect that I've experienced, and till this day, it's still difficult to admit despite the evidence lol.
They collapsed in the *Anniversary remake* . Hence the false memory from the original game. Mandela Effect is aptly named. It's whatever ignoramus/idiot who was stupid enough not to know Nelson Mandela hadn't died in prison (tons of "Free Mandela" slogans in all media was somehow missed by this clown) when he was set free in the 1990's . I mean you had to be a special kind of idiot to believe that. Steve Biko died in prison (choked to death actually). Whoever came up with this ridiculous effect - which btw *has zero validity outside the net* - erroneously picked the right name. To me this very name sounds like I-was-a-complete-idiot-because-I-believed-something-nobody-else-did-effect. Here's the *real effect* Different people have different memory abilities. Some people have fantastic, photographic memories and remember things they learned as a child while in school or can name every single English/British king/queen in chronological order or the birth date of all their friends and relatives. Others have *poor memories* and to them memories are just a hodgepodge of feelings, shreds and fragments. It's not really their fault their long-term memory simply isn't developed. Here's another factor to consider. Some people have the ability to recognize and be constantly aware of their bad memory. They know this and therefore have no issues discovering they simply don't remember some things or the name of some people they work with. Then there are those who have bad memory *but are almost totally oblivious to it* . Among these you'll find the most obnoxious people. Because they insist they are right when they haven't a clue. And when you actually *show them the facts* they're petty-minded enough not to ADMIT they were wrong, remembered wrong or were *proven wrong* and instead made up a silly effect to justify their own bad memory. "and till this day, it's still difficult to admit despite the evidence lol." Well, textbook example right there. You didn't think of reasons and explanations why you remembered it wrong but ascribed to an effect of pop-culture. Aside from this happening in the Anniversary remake of Tomb Raider there is another plausible explanation. Rickety looking wooden suspension bridges are shown in both motion pictures as well as cartoons to collapse. Hollywood movies have had a ton of them break apart for excitement of a scene. Yet another explanation is something called *confirmation bias* . When some people claim they believe something some will believe this is correct because they already believed it themselves and won't question it like a reasonable person would. This is simple group psychology which can be easily observed in experiments and in which it's rather scary how a group of people informed to tell a lie will get a test person to agree with that same lie. Yes, *real experiments* not your Mandela effect of which there is no scientific research because it's all made-up to excuse people who can't admit they were wrong all this time. "One of the fun facts about this game is that it's got its own Mandela effect, very famous" Very famous? *Where?* Confirmation bias. "One of the fun facts about this game" You're portraying it as it if were a real event, which is what fact means. If it's *wrong* it can't be a fact can it? And let me raise a warning finger here: Those videos you see on YT and TikTok and whatever called "fun facts" are mostly utter nonsense. You're on thin ice here... "many people have got a very vivid memory of one of the two bridges collapsing" Speak for yourself. Say *I have got a very vivid memory* next time. Who are these "many people" you hide behind? "Many people" isn't an argument either, it's a fallacy called Argumentum Ad Populum. Many people believed the Earth is flat or that Einstein invented the atomic bomb. Doesn't make them right. "Many people" is a poor argument. "That never happened, but I am one of those people." At least you admit it but I don't see you saying you were *wrong* anywhere. "I'd swear to God that one of the bridges collapsed" Well, perhaps that's the explanation. If reason, facts and science were your guiding lights you wouldn't swear to God you remembered a frickin' game wrong. "it's still difficult to admit despite the evidence lol." Word of advice. *Never* say this again. For your own sake. You're willingly proclaiming yourself a fool with such a sentence. Is it so difficult to accept you *remembered it wrong* ? How is that such a hard pill for you to swallow? "It's the only Mandela effect that I've experienced," But with your memory and ignorance it's almost certain many others will emerge in the future. Like I said, it's a pure memory thing and confirmation bias in a deadly cocktail. HOW do you know you didn't remember other things wrong? Person A: "Is there a reasonable and plausible explanation for this?" Person B: "I don't care. I already know it's whatever nonsense-effect I've read on the net (this way I can rationalize my own ignorance)." Guess who you are?
This was an astounding review! I am uncertain if you're aware of this, but the second Atlantean Centaur in the Tomb of Tihocan can come alive if you abolish Pierre and then proceed to where you fought the first one.
I too was 7 years old when I was first introduced to Lara Croft back in 1998. The first Tomb Raider game I played was TR2. Specifically The Great Wall level on a demo disc that came with my PlayStation. In fact, 3 weeks ago I got a tattoo of the dragon symbol on my right hand. This was a fantastic video my friend, now I'm about to watch your Tomb Raider 2 review as it was my favorite in the series. I cherish the PS1 classics and I'm one of those strange cult followers of TRAOD. What can you say? I'm a fanatic. Cheers from Tennessee, America.
Great review as always :) Just fyi, on PC it runs amazing cause of Tombati (which uses the ATI version of the game) with high resolution support, gamepad support, music and many more fixes. A fan is even working on porting PS1 exclusive graphic effects to it through the Project called "Tomb1Main" thought I'd let you know :)
37:05 "Now all that's missing is the shotgun..." Has a shotgun on her back. Huuuuh. But I get it, you took it from one of the secrets. Very nice review btw. I grew up as well with the Tomb Raider series and I loved it. 51:47 The Dos version HAS music, but it has less tracks than on the PSX version. Luckily, there's patches that bring these back while also improving the game and bringing content from the PSX version.
For me, Midas Palace is the pinacle of Tomb Raider level and spirit, the perfect illustration of the TR touch. TR 1 is a masterpiece of ambiance, level design and gameplay. I love it since 1996, and as time passes, my respect for its design grows... Except for the pushing block slow as f.......
I remember when I first beat the initial boss in the great pyramid.. I did all that work then got killed by being hit by the debris as it exploded.. I’ve never rage quit so hard in my life 😂
I feel your pain :D That has happened to me as well. With small mutants too. (PS I thought I had already answered this yesterday. Please excuse me if you got two notifications.)
Wow, first video I'm watching of yours. I'm only 5 mins in and I'm loving it. Reading others comments and the fact I'm a big old school Tomb Raider fan also. Makes me think my opinion won't change with continuing 🤩
11.35 mins in. Your sense of humour is amazing 😆 I was 6 nearly 7 when thus game came out. I loved it. But ALWAYS asked my Dad to kill the Trex as it scared the living hell out of me 🙈🥰
Also... this blew my mind recently. I don't know if u touch on this. BUT if you SLOW walk through spikes. They don't hurt u 😱 Now.. that would have been SO amazing to know back in 1996 🙈
I love your review style mate. Excellent stuff!. These are some of my favourite video games of all time. Just finished TR 2 again last month and it still keeps me addicted and engaged. Such fantastic game design!.
Finished the game for the first time yesterday (despite having grown up playing the house tutorials over and over) and I agree that Natla's Mines are a pain in the ass. Doesn't feel like a tomb, or some exciting long forgotten area to explore (let's just pretend all the ammo and medpacks in the other levels are a gift from the gods 😅) AND the pickups are practically invisible in the light and against the floor assets. I've been playing the remastered version and it's the same with either graphics (I kept toggling between the two). Bit of a pain when you want to collect everything 😅
It took me some time to figure out that you can also pull the blocks and not only push. In that room with two wolves - where it is first time the block needs to be pulled.
Grym review på en av de bästa spelen från när man var liten. Jag och polarna spelade ofta när vi var 8-9 men kom aldrig längre än Egypten föränn vi var tonåringar då vi tillslut klara ut det!
It just amazes me that this man can be doing TH-cam for over 11 years and only be at 1500 subscribers and then I remember that I myself am only at 1300 subscribers and I've been at this for eight years. EDIT: Well now I looked at your channel and it all makes sense because with the exception of one video three years ago you pretty much stopped eight years ago and then started up again a year ago, keep at it dude.
It's always so great to watch another Passionate Raider fan And you can clearly hear and see that Thanks for the excellent review I can't wait to watch your other Raider videos I know that they're old games but i still love them And my brother Alway's calls me sad for still loving my PS1 & PS2 So im always happy to find other people who still love old school TR
@@bialarcrais1763 I even have a little FarScape reference in my next video which will release in 4 weeks :D Cool! There are a bunch of Tomb Raider releated videos on my channel. Most of them are old though and only found in playlists^^
You say the graphics aged poorly, and I agree (two words, triangle boobies... also braid tie without braid doesn't help), but that's one part we can change now with sourceports, like I put it through OpenLara on my phone, and it adds shaders, shine and smoothness for everything, I added the mod that gives her FMV model with bead braid from cutscenes, more polygons, HQ weapons and 3D item pickups (flashes lighting the rooms like in later games is also nice). Official mobile version uses old models but HD textures so looks more or less decent (still Lara needs a better model and at least a braid mod)... though I think it is delisted. Far more options to play on PC so we can keep gameplay, level design and music of original, but update the graphics.
I have been watching all your reviews since finding your channel a few days ago...very well edited and enjoyable to watch, I must say! What are your thoughts on Tomb Raider Anniversary? I have beaten that...but not the original! I seem to remember in Anniversary there is NO skatepark (it does indeed seem really out of place). It also has some Quick Time Events I don't like (feels cheap). But for the PS2 it looks incredible and is certainly in my top 10 PS2 games. Too bad they couldn't have given the 4 other PS1 Tomb Raiders the same treatment
The first Tomb Raider by Core Design would be in my list of top 10 favorite all time games. There is a special feel about this first game that is hard to replicate by the following sequels. The fact that there aren't much human enemies, combined with the design of the settings make it feel like you're the first person to step foot in an ancient place in a thousand year. Despite the graphic engine being old, they're something about it that give the the landscape a great sense of depth and elevation. The puzzles are just challenging enough where you don't need to rely on walkthrough, but the game was more gearing toward platforming and climbing which is an aspect I liked. I think later in the series they concentrated too much on convoluted puzzles which I don't like. Egypt was my favorite settings, actually I enjoyed all the levels. I actually like the TombATI version with hd mods more than the Aspyr Remastered version because I felt it retains the classic feel of the game more, and you can use software like antimicro to map keyboard to game controller.
THIS was the first 3D game i had. Well my Sister bought the PSX since it had "some tetris games and pinball" (and my cousin could put in a chip to play burned cds of course) and THIS was the first game we had. We didn't had any Memory card (i didn't know that i need one) so i played the first 3 levels again and again and again and i still can remember everything almost blind :-D my sister gifted me the official walkthrough book for my birthday that year and i bought myself a Memory card and played this game on and on and on :D the offical walkthrough had several (kinda bad) jokes in it which was kinda funny back then second game i think i've played was Abes Oddysee as a Demo and later on a burned CD.. it was ok but the NEXT game that hit me was Resident Evil 1. A game were the character SPOKE and the camera perspectives looked like IN THE MOVIES! Also my sister "used" the PSX so i had to do the cleaning and stuff otherwise she would hid the cables, the memory cards or controllers. (the other TR games i played on my PC... with the keyboard and yeah... it worked)
I just finished this for the first time a couple years ago. we only ever got the playstation as a rental and the game Was too hard to finish during those times. I was not aware that this came with a DOS emulator on steam, caught me by surprise. great game for the time, aged a lot better than almost everything else.
This game is a real masterpiece. Rediscovering it recently, we see that each level is perfectly well designed and clear in what you can or cannot do, Unlike a TR3 which sometimes lacks visibility on this point. A complex level design that pushes us into our last entrenchments but always fair. But also, through all these levels, we see that the game always offers us new ideas, new atmospheres and constantly renews our interest, So the fatigue never sets in. It’s really crafty work at this point. And for me, this game really has the best soundtrack: each piece of music is perfect for conveying the desired emotion and we always stay in the room to contemplate the surroundings when the main theme of the game begins. This game is really a beautiful little gem (though, no thanks for showing us the most disturbing death of the game, I don’t feel good now.)
The PAL version of TR1 is not as good as the NTSC due to a lower framerate and more input lag but yes the controls do get more responsive in TR2 and the input lag issue is not a problem there. My favourite of the originals is TR1 as i love the locations, the music and the atmosphere. I love the music in the old games but TR1 has the best music
This is the best reviews I've seen on this game you show the true version of this game and not the much better looking PC version and not many know but Thor is the God of Thunder just like Zues is.
Loving these retrospectives! I'm pretty sure the Cistern and Tomb of Tihocan levels were merged in the Anniversary remake, and I don't think anyone was missing out. Definitely playing the Pierre drinking game next time!
The Cistern only requires you to raise the water level once. Do all the offshoots and then raise the water level when you return to the main chamber for the last time. It is still a horrible level that I hate.
Your #5 is my #1 track but they’re all great. I never understood why characters in the game pronounced “scion” the way they do. It should sound like “sigh-un”.
I still Like the Game because of its slow gameplay especially in a Time Everything must be faster and faster. But TR 2 with his more Combat focused gameplay in combination with the clumsy controlls aged worse in my eyes.
Great vid, if a LOT too long for me. I had a very similar experience to you when I was 'younger.' I'm older than you, so I wasn't a 'kid' when I discovered TR. But, ya, I FRIGGIN' *LOVED* that game, just like you! I played it on PC with and without Voodoo grfx enhancements. The Voodoo enhancements just BLEW MY MIND! Sooooooo AWESOME! The Voodoo PC version looks a MILLION times better than the PS1, and even the REGULAR PC version looks way better. Seeing the PS1 version just makes me CRINGE! Sooooo blocky and pixelated! Yuck! Anyway, I could talk about TR for HOURS, but no one cares what *I* think. Thx for the memories!
If Natlas mines did not have block pushing puzzles, it would rank #1 for me in the entire game. I used to play it over and over again as a kid, just revisited it after 20 years or whatever and it brought back fond memories. I only just legit beat the entire game after all this time after buying the remastered. I was too much of a pussy to beat it properly when younger, I might have freaked out when I fell below the sphinx and landed in that huge underwater cavern without being able to see below me. Lol
I'm not sure. The best part is finally being able to play the add-ons on a console. I don't really care too much about graphics, but I guess it's cool for new audiences to experience these games that way.
Which game do you think is the best in the series? Right now I’m either thinking it’s this game or TR3. I’ve always been torn on how strong of a character Lara was. There’s games around now that give characters way more development, but I think Lara’s characterisation in the older games was tied into what you do during gameplay and more of an immergent narrative thing.
It used to be TR3. After reviewing it recently and really hating the London Levels, I'd now say the first game is my favourite. There is just something timeless about it, even though it hasn't aged as well on a technical level. I really do like the newer games too, but they're hard to compare.
The thing that bothers me in this video is that this version of the game is the PAL version so the game runs at 50hz, unlike the NTSC version which that version runs at 60hz. The game feels slow and it bothers me. Sorry

17:07 missed opportunity for a swan dive! XD First thing I did in TR2 when climbing the balcony in Venice was diving into marble floors from up high.
That's really funny 😂
Fun fact: the dialogue-less, action-based cutscenes were partly inspired by Aeon Flux.
Omg! I remember watching your review as a kid! Your original ps1 TR reviews. You did a few of them. Please review all of them!
Awesome! That's the goal... :D But it will take years
Nice review, I enjoyed reliving my 1996 experience.
"I counted 6 floors, thanks Lara" 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
100th comment. I agree with you, Tomb Raider change the way I look to videogames. It´s a timeless classic. Still have the large PC box to this day.
But I'll play them again nevertheless, now I'm starting TR2 :)
I hate rebooted trilogy (Tomb Rambo...).
Thanks! I agree with most of your statements. There are only a few games in the series I'm not that fond of.
@@GFrom fair enough
Cistern is one of my favourite levels! The scale of a main hall, a lot of keys, all the watter puzzles - I really enjoyed that, and I was really pissed when it was cut out n the anniversary.
I started with Tomb Raider 2 on the PC when I was 15 and it was totally fascinating to me. The atmosphere was insane, and I was a little shocked that this woman would kill so many people and animals, that were my feelings 20 years ago. I also became a fan of the series and played it with joy for many years.
I beat Tomb Raider 2 again a couple of days ago. I still holds up very well! But I agree, she kills a lot of people in the second game.
@@GFrom I played TR2 again a few month ago and made it to the Barkhang Monastery but then I lost interest unfort. but it was still enjoyable. I played this game already to death in the past, so it's okay.
@@FirstGentleman1 I know that feeling when it comes to some of the sequels.
Just want you to know that I thoroughly enjoy revisiting these videos of yours, they're still 10/10 content 👌 the nostalgia and personal relatability with the stories of playing it as a kid reeeeally take me back. You're awesome, G-From! And so is old-school TR.
Thanks man, that's nice to hear :)
49:29
Classic moment in reviewing. I remember it but forgot who uttered that brilliance.
Subscribed. Another great one!
Welcome back! 🙌
I miss THIS Lara/Tomb Raider.
absolutely love ur videos the way you convey how u used to act when u was younger in this game is very endearing
My favorite video game since 1996. Great review!
the "Blublueuu, Ohh, heyyy!" at 4.25 took me by surprise, you killed me man!
I always found her pronounciation of "air" to sound weird 😂
Just watched this and your TR2 review. These were really enjoyable videos to watch, man. Thank you for the content.
I grew up with the original Tomb Raider and have stuck with the series ever since. The original three are pure magic and I can never get tired of discussing them.
Please do one for Tomb Raider 3! I would love to hear more of your thoughts. The Nevada section in that game are some of my favorite levels in gaming.
Thanks man! I'll release two Tomb Raider Reviews this Season, so stay tuned :)
Here's the *real effect*
Different people have different memory abilities.
"many people have got a very vivid memory of one of the two bridges collapsing"
Speak for yourself.
Person A: "Is there a reasonable and plausible explanation for this?"
Person B: "I don't care. I already know it's whatever nonsense-effect I've read on the net (this way I can rationalize my own ignorance)."
Guess who you are?
The first tomb raider is still the best. It was the first game j remember playing with my dad
*G-From* is back & better than ever!
This was an astounding review! I am uncertain if you're aware of this, but the second Atlantean Centaur in the Tomb of Tihocan can come alive if you abolish Pierre and then proceed to where you fought the first one.
Thank you! Yes I'm aware but had forgotten when I wrote the review 😁
That's awesome! Thanks and greetings from Germany :)
Thanks, I'll check it out :)
Thanks! Yeah I reviewed the MS DOS Add-On and talk more about this topic in that video.
Fantastic video. Great job recapping the story and telling stories While you were a kid
Richtig gute Aufarbeitung der classic TR Games, danke für die Nostalgie :o
Danke und gerne 🙌
I remember when I first beat the initial boss in the great pyramid.. I did all that work then got killed by being hit by the debris as it exploded.. I’ve never rage quit so hard in my life 😂
I feel your pain :D That has happened to me as well. With small mutants too.
(PS I thought I had already answered this yesterday. Please excuse me if you got two notifications.)
I hope you’re enjoying the new remastered trilogy
Mostly, yeah 😅
Wow, first video I'm watching of yours. I'm only 5 mins in and I'm loving it. Reading others comments and the fact I'm a big old school Tomb Raider fan also. Makes me think my opinion won't change with continuing 🤩
I hope so too :D Enjoy :)
They don't hurt u 😱 Now.. that would have been SO amazing to know back in 1996 🙈
I thought I mentioned the spikes but I didn't. How could I forget? 🙈 😅
I'm also an extreme TR fan like you.
But Croc-gu-phant is from an old kids book. Look it up, I had the same one as a kid.
I love your review style mate. Excellent stuff!.
These are some of my favourite video games of all time. Just finished TR 2 again last month and it still keeps me addicted and engaged. Such fantastic game design!.
Thank you! Yeah they hold up even today!
Awesome review, detailed and also very funny, greetings form Brazil.
Tack! 🙌
I uploaded some stuff inbetween but those videos aren't public anymore. We just got to keep uploading videos and eventually it will pay off :)
It's always so great to watch another Passionate Raider fan
And you can clearly hear and see that
Thanks for the excellent review
I can't wait to watch your other Raider videos
I know that they're old games but i still love them
And my brother Alway's calls me sad for still loving my PS1 & PS2
So im always happy to find other people who still love old school TR
I'm glad you enjoy my stuff! It's good to know other people love the same old games I played when I was a kid.
By the way, I love FarScape :D Crais is one of my favourite characters from that show.
@@GFrom mine too
I'm a girl btw lol but yes Farscape is Frelling Awesome
Im currently Watching your TR 2 video
Love it
@@bialarcrais1763 I even have a little FarScape reference in my next video which will release in 4 weeks :D
Cool! There are a bunch of Tomb Raider releated videos on my channel. Most of them are old though and only found in playlists^^
Will you do Videos on Jak & Daxter
I love those Game's AsWell
I admit "Atlantean Stronghold" and "The Hive" from TR Unfinished Business were the cherry of this Island scenario
Who else would always try to get to the highest point in any level with water to dive off? Love these games
Great video. I still love these games
It’s crazy when you play it on the ps1 the environment is like ripping from the seams. I saw a pc version and it’s so crazy good looking.
I'd like to show my appreaciation for this series by subscribing! good work I can't wait to get into more videos on classic Tomb Raider
Thank you!
I'll probably always stick with the PlayStation version, but it's cool that we have so many options nowadays.
Thanks for watching! I loved Anniversary when it came out. Haven't played it in almost 10 years though.
Along with Resi Evil#1 my 1st gaming experience. Both classic games
Thanks to your videos I bought the game for my old PS1 today and already solved more levels then my 12 year old self did 🖤
51:51 : the Dos version didn't have any SOUND not just music, and trust me you cannot have all secrets without opening door sound for example
Congratulation! Wonderful review. Tomb Raider Is a masterpiece!
Thank you! Indeed it is. A true classic.
We didn't had any Memory card (i didn't know that i need one) so i played the first 3 levels again and again and again and i still can remember everything almost blind :-D
my sister gifted me the official walkthrough book for my birthday that year and i bought myself a Memory card and played this game on and on and on :D the offical walkthrough had several (kinda bad) jokes in it which was kinda funny back then
second game i think i've played was Abes Oddysee as a Demo and later on a burned CD.. it was ok but the NEXT game that hit me was Resident Evil 1. A game were the character SPOKE and the camera perspectives looked like IN THE MOVIES!
Also my sister "used" the PSX so i had to do the cleaning and stuff otherwise she would hid the cables, the memory cards or controllers. (the other TR games i played on my PC... with the keyboard and yeah... it worked)
Very cool! Oddworld was the first PS1 game my dad bought (not the first game I played however). We got RE1 later but it never clicked with us sadly.
For me the Cistern is iconic, with some of the best level design. A truly challenging level.
Thanks for the nostalgia without the trouble! I love the game but I am not sure I'll be able to enjoy the old-school gameplay...
It probably takes a while to get used to 😅
This is the best reviews I've seen on this game you show the true version of this game and not the much better looking PC version and not many know but Thor is the God of Thunder just like Zues is.
Well, thank you! Yes, I wanted to show the game how I've always played it.
One of my all time favorite games.
Loving these retrospectives! I'm pretty sure the Cistern and Tomb of Tihocan levels were merged in the Anniversary remake, and I don't think anyone was missing out. Definitely playing the Pierre drinking game next time!
Great video - thanks!
Are you looking forward to the remakes? Would love to see your reaction.
I've pre-ordered them. Don't know about a video yet.
You can also see the "sky" in the Colosseum.
Great video! Subscribed easily!
Thanks, Jacob! 🙌
I still love the game and I'm as old as original Lara would be now! Lol 😆
I love how alone you feel in this game
the second centaur comes to life if you go outside the building again!
The graphics look great when using the ati patch high res pc port :)
The upcoming remasters of TR1-3 also come with the PC-exclusive expansion packs. Time to review those levels?
I've already reviewed all of them :)
OMG you are funny af. This is great content, congratulations.
Glad you like it! 🙌
That T-Rex, I absolutely shat my pants
It's always advised to bring an extra set of pants when playing TR ☝️
Thx for the memories!
i miss 90s
If Natlas mines did not have block pushing puzzles, it would rank #1 for me in the entire game.
I used to play it over and over again as a kid, just revisited it after 20 years or whatever and it brought back fond memories.
I only just legit beat the entire game after all this time after buying the remastered. I was too much of a pussy to beat it properly when younger, I might have freaked out when I fell below the sphinx and landed in that huge underwater cavern without being able to see below me. Lol
My Dude! How excited are you for the TR remastered 1-2-3?
Hope you gonna cover your thoughts on them in the future.
I'm not sure. The best part is finally being able to play the add-ons on a console. I don't really care too much about graphics, but I guess it's cool for new audiences to experience these games that way.
6:40 bruh's a f*cking car
Sorry
Don't worry about it, I get it. It's what I grew up with and I"ve never played it any other way 🤷♂️
@@GFrom I respect that. By the way I really like your videos keep up the good work! God bless you!
Who was that cowboy that was scrapped in the Anniversary edition.
what's your opinion on anniversary? apologies if you mentioned it in this review; i'm only commenting now despite watching it last week lol
I don't think I mentioned it. I haven't played it in years but I loved it when it came out.
Love it🎉
Never played the Tomb Raider series, but I really like the deep dive into this one. Will we get 2 and 3 as well? 😁
TR2 is next :)
Hey! I can finally tell you that my TR3 review is online...and you're in it :D
@@GFrom I saw that, thankyou for including me ❤️❤️ loved the review as well
Glad to hear it :) Thanks for watching!
Please where can I get a Lara standee
Where did you get that big Lara Croft cardboard cutout? It looks like something that would've belonged to a game store. I bet it wasn't cheap
From my old job, so I got it for free :)
