    I work for Chanel cosmetics.
    We were taught in class to pump the product directly onto the brush it comes with...then directly onto the face.
    Once the product touches the skin, the foundation color comes out...so if its put onto the hand first, you're wasting the product.
    I know in the instruction packet that comes in the box, it says to apply to hand & mix...but it really works better with the product pumped onto the brush directly.
    I hope this helps anyone!
    I'm obsessed with this foundation because I love that dewy skin look. And it's ultra hydrating!
    It's 75% water based & has Neroli flower scent which is good for redness & inflammation on the skin.

      Soul Sessions I’m looking for more of a noticeable tint could Fleur have gone up to a medium plus? My skin tone is similar to hers and I’m thinking of trying that color. I saw another youtuber Allana Davidson use it and it looked great in her light skin!

    Unpopular opinion: I’m thrilled it doesn’t have SPF. I’m allergic to it (unless it’s the mineral kind) and it’s frustrating when brands don’t consider people like me when they add SPF to foundations/primers or skin care. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @bobbidazzler1343

      I don't know why they bother. An application of foundation will never deliver the SPF they claim on the bottle. I put an SPF 30 or 50 on before my foundation anyway.
      Your point is a valid one. How annoying for you. X

    The idea of spf in a makeup item is kind of pointless anyways. You need a large amount of sunscreen to actually acquire any protection. And with makeup we use such a small amount that it won't actually defend our skin against the sun. Wayne Goss did a video on this years ago, that's how I learnt about it. Not to mention many people are sensitive to chemical sunscreens.

    • @cosimavonliebenau8317

      Maliha Intikhab Totally agree. I like to put my own SPF on, depending on weather from 15 to 50, or none at all if I go out in the evening.

      @user-wf3fz3ki8n 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know my foundation doesn't contain SPF at all but still even that needed amount of foundation protects my skin. I can see how my face is always lighter than the rest of my body in summer although I use SPF on my face only when I go to the beach or if I know I have to stay on the sun for more than an hour.

  • @rosalinddavies3513
    @rosalinddavies3513 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The beads in the liquid burst on impact with the skin. Therefore you should apply two pumps to the brush and apply it straight to your skin, gently buffing it in from the centre of the face. The beads actually contain the foundation, such as it is. If you place a pump on your hand first you will lose coverage.

      I was just about to comment the same thing. This seems like it would do well with a finger application. Would more than likely go way farther so you wouldn't need 6+ pumps! Crazy! I've never heard of a foundation needing that many pumps to cover before!

    • @sharonnguyen568
      @sharonnguyen568 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’ve tried with fingers and the pigment doesn’t burst and spread as well as it does with a brush. I used a billion pumps the first time too but that’s because I’m used to having full to medium coverage whereas the idea is to just kind of even out skin tone. Super sheer but really nice :)! I do think it’ll run out quickly though. I average maybe three pumps per application and add some powder to mattify on the tzone but I really only use it on weekends anyway!

I use 2-3 pumps and rub it between my hands before applying to my face. You have to work the product a bit on your face to get the pigment and gel to properly mix, but I like it better

    I disagree with your comment about the shade range it shouldn’t matter whether you can pass off another shade as your match or not it’s 2019 and these huge multimillionaire brands are still not being inclusive to deeper skin tones, there’s absolutely no excuse for it anymore. They have the money to invest in formulas and teams that can formulate darker skin shades it’s really ignorant at this point and it’s really just openly saying that they don’t care about a huge group of people.

    • @saraho92
      @saraho92 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Its not just darker shades. I am quite pale and there is nothing to suit my skin in Chanel but hey, it's their brand. No one is forcing anyone to buy it. Also you may notice, brow products for red heads are near impossible to find... it is just the way it is and allows brands which do cater to light/dark skintones to grab a larger share of the market.

    • @jfb919
      @jfb919 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No single company, big or small, owes it to any one to have a product available for them. They are just making shades that they anticipate will sell best. Based on historical sales of their other products. They've made a business decision to not explore new markets, that's up to them. Are they loosing out? Probably. Are they avoiding waste? Maybe. I highly doubt they make these decisions purely in order to exclude people with certain skin colour.
      Also it's a new priduct so i suspect if it does well in terms of sales, the shade range will be expanded. It makes no sense to bring out 20+ shades of a product if it turns out to be a flop.

      @@jfb919 I understand what you're saying to an extent they will make products they know will sell but how can they make sales from people with darker skin if there are no products for them to purchase at all? In a way they do owe it to them though everyone deserves to feel included and if they can't bring themselves to do that why bring out a makeup line it's like any beauty brand with laughable shade ranges, if they aren't going to cater to people of a darker complexion don't go into the business, that narrative may have worked decades ago but it's 2019 people are boycotting brands for lack of inclusivity and I think that's fair.
      As for the starting shade range I agree you don't have to come out with the 40 shades Fenty did but it's a poor excuse to say they'll add more shades as time goes on they should have a baseline of maybe 10-15 make a very dark, dark, tan, light and very fair shades even if it isn't for every undertone at least it shows they were a thought and not just left out because they think it'll flop.

    • @MerciBoo
      @MerciBoo 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@saraho92 This is across the board though I'm not trying to say your problem isn't valid but you have more chance of finding your shade in both drugstore and high end than someone of say Nyma Tang's complexion has and people say go to Fenty, while they are a good idea not everyone has that money to spend on foundation. I know nobody is forcing anyone but it'd be good for the option to buy it.

    Fleur - one of the ONLY original TH-camrs not to be a sell-out.
    Yes, I know she does do more Ad's now...But I truly believe she wouldn't be a sell-out just cause someone is waving a cheque at her.
    She's literally the ONLY TH-camr left who's opinion I still trust. Well her and pixiwoo as they are also very honest about products. Shame the others turned into such fake sell-outs (tanya, zoella, Estee etc etc)
    Thank you fleur, for always being honest about products. Even when the opinion is unpopular. It's why I think many of us still trust you. Please never change.

    Just got mine today I tried a bit but have a full face already done from the morning so I wont find out until tomorrow! Ugh every time you say it was 48 pounds I WISH It was $48 CAD here. It costs $85+ Tax (15%) in Canada which is even more insane. My next try will definitely be the Sublimage Le Teint Ultimate radiance generating cream foundation (try saying that 10x fast) and I want to compare and see which one I prefer (unfortunately that one is $100 more so I expect better coverage and more radiance!!)

    It reminds me of Coty Sun shimmer from years ago. With rest of your make-up it looked really nice. This would probably nice as a holiday foundation, when you have a bit of a tan and just want to perfect it. Your makeup always looks lovely though 😄 x

    Hello Esty here. Spf in sunscreen is actually not enough to protect you with the best coverage. You are suppose to have a separate sunscreen and then you all your makeup. There are brands that have spf setting sprays to keep your re applying spf through out the day

    I think you should put the product directly on the brush and blend it onto your skin because the foundation works whenever it meets the skin, so when you put it on your hand and use the brush to kinda pick up the product, most of the product might already rest on your hand :s

    I liked the look you achieved with this foundation. It was not too 'obvious' at all. A lot of people (eg men!) would not realise you had a foundation on. Could you do a review of your opinions on the Boy makeup? Maybe you could test it on Mike, if he is brave enough?! I am hearing wildly different thoughts about it, so your input would be appreciated.

    You have remained so humble fleur..
    It's youtubers like you, who I want to just keep doing well because you deserve it so much.
    You obviously have money, but you don't brag or boast or act unrelateable at all. And you never have done. I have watched you for so many years and always appreciated that you were so classy and never bragged about being well off. If anything you sometimes play it down, which is a true sign of class.
    Then there's people like Estee Lalonde and Lydia Elise, who don't understand the meaning of the word humble. I used to be subscribed to both, but I can't bare to watch them now. Especially Lydia, fakest personality on TH-cam by a mile. Absolutely odious woman.

    I’ve been watching your videos for so many years and I really enjoy your honest reviews about the beauty products especially nowadays when many TH-camrs are asked to review a product, it’s hard to believe what they are saying. However, you’ve always been genuine and honest, I would like to thank you for that throughout the years this is what a real TH-camrs should be. I’m glad you are keeping it 100% real. I love how it looked on you, and it’s worth trying it out especially for summer time when it’s too hot to wear a full foundation and enjoy our own skin with a little bit of coverage. Awesome review.

    I'm curious to know if you would need less pumps if you didn't use a brush or beauty blender to put it on your face, but just at the end for final blending. 🤷‍♀️

  • @bdebakedbeans
    @bdebakedbeans 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You keep saying that the beautyblender sucks it up but then you keep using it? Why not apply with your fingers? If it's a watery texture it's evidently going to be absorbed by a sponge! I mean do you apply your serum with a beautyblender? Seriously though not the smartest review

    I can see it took away a little bit of the redness on your face after apply the foundation, so it gave that fresh look. I agree that this is something people would want to wear during summer.
    Coverage seems super thin, yeah? Well, it did say "tint" haha. Would be perfect for someone with naturally good skin, I guess.
    Just the thought of the price (48 pounds) for 30 ml, and you had to pump 6 times on your face every time; is just scary.

    I actually really like the look of this. I don't understand why they would put it in such heavy bottle and require the brush to be bought with it. This seems like the perfect every day/ travel makeup item and the packaging is acting like it's a super high end foundation you pull out for special events. I really want to try this but don't know if I can justify doing so when everything surrounding the actual product I want is spiking up the price and more cumbersome.
