    Don't ever feel the need to apologise for a video being too long, there is always the fast forward button for those impatient souls amongst us. But by showing the build in its entirety we amateurs get an insight into the magic.
    Thanks for all the good work so far, may it long continue.

    Thanks for another bank holiday treat 😎 Looking forward to the next step already as it will see the return of the W.W.F. or “wee wet finger”. Gotta love Paul painting 😉

      😂 Paul. You are single handedly trying to get a painting method recognised! I’ll try and avoid the finger method this time but who knows when it might be needed. 😂 Paul

    Enjoyed watching this and the build is really coming together. The roof looks very good and I was pleased that in the end you could get it off without needing to modify it. I am sure one of the modelling gods exists only to make sure after you have carefully measured something, that you cut it just a bit too short. Lost count of the times I have done that with ridge tiles on Metcalfe kits. Stephen

    • @GalgormHall
      @GalgormHall  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha you aren’t wrong Stephen. The modelling Gods are a fickle bunch. The roof removal method is not ideal but at least I can do the task. I just won’t perform it too often in case it weakens things or I over bend that gable wall! Paul

      @GalgormHall  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scratch building is an aspect of the hobby I really enjoy, particularly these buildings. It gives a lot more diversity to the layout to what can be shop bought and allows you to fit structures to the landscape rather than the other way round. As you say patience is a virtue with it too. This series I went down different routes to get the results required and could have done things differently after the event. We all live and learn. Paul

    Surely the barge boards should nestle under the tile edges so the weather does not get in behind and cause the boards to rot? i.e. the tiles flush with the outer edge of the board and not flush to the wall. I think a couple of mm longer on the roof tiles would accommodate this nicely.

    • @GalgormHall
      @GalgormHall  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Grawlys and you are right. A combination of seeing that after construction and also the need to keep things tight for roof removal omitted the overlap. Appreciate the comments though. Paul

    I had no idea how you were going to cut that extension roof part, yet after seeing this, it was simple. You break down the items to do and provide details in simple easy to use step by step instructions and advice. Simply great series of videos these have been and it really does inspire those like myself with little scratch building skills to give it a go. Awesome stuff Paul. Clint

    Loving this video series, nice level of tips and detail, but may I make one request? Please drop the volume of your intro music relative to the voice over. I tend to watch these early in the morning while doing breakfast and I have to keep fiddling with the volume so I don't wake everyone else in the house and so I can then still hear what you are saying. You are not the only one, it seems this is a very common occurrence on youtube! :)

    • @GalgormHall
      @GalgormHall  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Dibley. I think some of the issue of sound comes from the various sources the video and music files are taken from. I have invested in some sound equipment since this video was shot so hopefully things are a bit more on the level so to speak. Thanks for the feedback though. Paul

    very good build. With regards on the roof removal problem catching on the chimney head, when you are trying to take it off it seems to catch more towards the bottom of the card than the top? It might be worth cutting a 45* on the edge that way you wouldn't have a gap and it might be easier to remove.

    Hi Paul,great detail on the roof. I am thinking of using Welsh Tile sheeting for my Glasgow tenement in the same method which you have used here,. I had tried using sandpaper but it didnt work out.I have a big update coming later today so look out for it. The house is looking great and I know you have put a great deal of effort into it for which you should be congratulated. Thanks for sharing

    Hi Paul. As a follower of your scratch build can you clarify where you glue the barge boards. Do you glue the barge board to the moveable roof or do you glue it to the gable wall? I am following your steps so far in building this model with you and can't wait to see the finished item. Thanks, Mike

    • @GalgormHall
      @GalgormHall  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mike, sorry I didn’t make it clearer, looking back I could have been a bit more descriptive. I’ve added the barge boards to the edge of roof card with it overlapping slightly on to the wall. If you are keeping the roof a removable module only apply the glue to the roof card. There is one slight error in my design in that the roof does not extend beyond the barge boards but it’s so imperceptible that I think we can get away with it. 😉 The next video is ready to go and will be out Monday. It’s all small detailing now so there are a few things covered. Are you on Facebook? I’d be interested in seeing your build photos if you are. Paul

      @@GalgormHall Evening Paul. Thank you for coming back and answering my so promptly. It is much appreciated. I haven't yet tackled the roof tiles yet, partly due to an error on my part when I ordered the wrong roof tile. The roof tile I ordered was the style which has the roof as a contjnual sheet similar to Slaters Flemish brick. So I had to reorder and is readh to go on. Unfortunately, I don't have Facebook, sjnce I am of the age I want to keep mg own privacy. Apart from email do you have any ither suggestion how I can send you photos of my attempt. If I send you my emaill address to you on this chat, would that help? Mike

    Should have added the chimneys to the roof, or have the roof as a single piece on top of the flat second story of the building...

    • @GalgormHall
