    I didn't even know this fan existed until I viewed your video. Thank you for your service to all us MKZ owners.

    Can you make a video for servicing the hybrid battery/cleaning the contacts please?
    There’s a similar service for the Prius.

    Actually the fan and housing were relatively clean even at 200K...was expecting lots worse...If you look at Prius fans they seem to get far dirtier for some reason to the point that in 2nd gen they actually put in a battery fan filter that has to be replaced as needed.
    Running batteries without good ventilation apprently can drop battery life in half.
    Thanks for the video!!

      Yup, I was expecting a lot more dust build up, but I was pleasantly surprised. You are right, the prrius has a fan filter which it quite interesting to see

    Thanks for this, my car have been quite slow on EV mode but when its cold like early morning, the EV is fast, maybe the fan was was clogged ,but, it doesn't have a filter? like Toyota did?

    • @321verykind
      @321verykind  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no fan filter that I am aware of. The only tell tale sign of a bad battery is reduced mpg. And I'm not sure what you mean by the ev being fast and slow.

    I have a 2016 fusion hybrid, 211k miles still gets over 43mpg, but i expect it will will eventually need replacement, found a 2016 fusion for parts, i want to take the hybrid battery pack with about 120k miles, is there a tutorial to help remove it? I used to see them years ago but now i can't find any

    Thank you 321VeryKindAutos for making this video! I just bought at 2016 MKZ Hybrid with 70k miles and I am learning more each day about the maintenance requirements. These seem like very underrated cars, mine works amazingly well especially in Eco mode. 45-50 MPGs
    What do you think about the longevity of the batteries? Since you had one with 212k km how did that one perform?
    Did you notice more problems or range issues i.e. the hybrid battery running in EV mode less and less often?
    Thanks!

    • @321verykind
      @321verykind  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad to help! I have not noticed any mileage decreases on my MKZ as of yet. Keep in mind that 80% of the driving I do is on the highway so the battery doesnt always get a change to get used in a full cycle (which preserves the battery). If you do more city driving I'm thinking your battery will degrade much faster. I'm confident that I can hit 300k km with out any issues with the battery.

      @@321verykind Have to say that living in the city here in LA, having a hybrid is definitely worth it, I’m constantly using the battery or charging it..

  • @UGPVlogsLA

    Awesome! I just heard about doing this maintenance the other day for the battery fan. I’ll check mine tomorrow afternoon. Is there any other than spray air I need for this job?
    Also, the other day my battery was dead when I attempted to start the engine. I haven’t been letting her sit for days at a time either. I don’t actually have Lincoln on Call, but they have had to make that call before when returning from vacation last year. What kind of jump starter should I buy for the engine? Or I thought about a Solar panel set up, just need to know the volts, amps, and wattage. She’s a 2017..

    • @321verykind
      @321verykind  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. You should buy a battery booster on amazon. I dont have much knowledge solar panels, but that seems like a cool idea, but not sure sure if it would be able to start the car??

    • @MohdAzylee
      @MohdAzylee ปีที่แล้ว

      a jumper pack should be enough, about solar no, it can't. also about this car, I think it uses the hybrid battery to start the engine, if you are talking about the hybrid battery, that's a big problem

    My mkz is at 175k. My battery fan has been super loud lately. Like it’s working on crack. It’s even noticeable in the cabin. Would it be due to being dirty?

    • @321verykind
      @321verykind  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could be. Mine is usually loud when the weather is hot outside. But definitely worth cleaning out with that kind of mileage

    Yeah that 200km fan was actually still really clean. Maybe a percentage or two efficiency drop at most. But, good info. I'm gonna look into my ducts with a boroscope just to see if there's a surprise waiting. I'm at 80K miles (128,747KM), but I've yet to hear my fan running even once, even on very hot days. It's probably running cool and efficiently as my mileage and car behavior has all remained the same, but I still want to check!

    What the benefits/purpose of cleaning the fan?

    • @321verykind
      @321verykind  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Heat is a killer for these batteries so making sure the battery has maximum cooling is the main benefit to cleaning to fan. You would be surprised to see all the dust on the fan and in the housing.
