Two near-death experiences, more than 20 tornadoes, lots of lightning (I was almost struck lol), and goofy moments with my friend @CeltonHenderson #tornado #lightning #adventure
Regarding yr comment at 7:32 - I completely agree. Long shots of tornado formation gives you the chance to see the entire storm structure and how air currents put the whole thing together. One of the most frustrating things about the El Reno footage is that almost no chaser was back far enough (except one person) to film the storm from top of the sky to earth. One person did, and it was jaw-dropping to see.
I’ve been watching tornado videos for many years. You have some the most stunning footage I’ve ever seen. And this isn’t a “best of” lifetime reel, it’s just 2023! I’m glad you survived both near death experiences. Be so careful.
You know what, 34.9k subs and you're producing amazing content like this? You need more! Subbed! I can't believe these storms almost killed you twice now! You're a lucky guy, clearly meant to be here for a reason. As Reed Timmer always says, Never stop chasing! Your editing is phenomenal and you're clearly showing some of the best parts about life!
Love your videos man, keep it up. I've actually had lightning strike a car I was in, it hit the radio antenna and the pure heat that radiated through the car was nuts. My car shut off and I pulled off, luckily it still drove just fine, but the radio antenna really didn't like to work anymore. My 1st experience almost being stuck was actually at home when it struck the alley way and scorched the pavement. I knew to get down as my hair stood up. I couldn't see for a solid few minutes and the heat was so bad I thought I died as I was only 11 years old. Anyways stay safe man and keep chasing because I'll definitely keep watching and cheering you on.
From what I've been told, cars are pretty good at protecting their occupants from lightning due to their metal frame absorbing the discharge and directing it away.
@@CricketRodeo lots of research and experience driving around in bad conditions then I started chasing storms close to home and progressively got further and further from home as your understanding improves. That’s kinda the path I went down at least.
Awesome - thanks for replying. I’m up in Ontario Canada where we don’t get a ton of tornados. I guess I’ll start with research & see if I can get in on a chase sometime! :) all the best and hope you guys stay safe out there!

@@CeltonHenderson yeah for sure - we do get the odd one around here...usually hear about it after the fact but I'm looking into getting a decent weather radio and learning how to "find" the possible tornados to get there in time. Good video. Doing this in a quiet style similar to that of legend Pecos Hank was a good move for you. Loved the lightning shots and red sprites. Will have to watch again in better lighting conditions to see the green ghost. Thank God you weren’t hit by that lightning bolt.
1:49 Saw your footage on that day I was at my Grandmas house I have pictures of one the mesocyclones that was in one of these storms. The location is only 15 miles from where I live
Hey I have a question if you were being paid a billion dollars would you trace I know this on tornado ranking doesn't exist but would you chase an ef6 for a billion dollars that quadruple which is 4 * 4 and bigger than the El Reno tornado would you do it just a question that's all
Nice to see a fellow Coloradan. Luckily I was not affected by any tornadoes. However I did have multiple severe thunderstorms go through. Two on July 3rd and 4th. One in early August while I was on vacation on Oregon. And one more on September 14th Edit: I live 20 minutes north of Denver
Great film work! Just came across ur videos tonight and quickly became a fan and it’s good to see that u seemed to have learned from past mistakes and not getting ur self in the middle of the tornados path. But if u do get up close and personal with them I hope u have some people to help u navigate, film, drive etc. Be safe out there!
I'm a weather nut but haven't seen a tornado in-person...yet! I _almost_ got to see the Jarrell EF5 in 1997. My wife & I were in Sam's in Waco & heard a weatherman on a radio say, "there's a tornado south of Waco next to I-35!" My wife looked at me & got tears in her eyes since she _knew_ I wanted to drive south & try to see it, which terrified her. I couldn't do it! I love her! Question, do chasers look for & buy cars with scratches & dents so y'all don't have to worry too much about getting more, like through hail damage? You said lightning striking your car was a "near death experience," but I've always thought you were safe in a car? So, can it be dangerous/deadly for lightning to strike a car? Thanks for such an awe-inspiring video!
Yooo you have the same birthday as me and my name is also Chris but Criss, but your footage is absolutely amazing. I loved this video, keep up the work man! Never stop chasing.
Love your videos! And agreed on the long shots being spectacular. It puts the tornado into perspective and gives us a sense of grandeur. :) In fact, it feels more like art than watching a video. This is more like a documentary and appreciation for nature, than trying to get us sitting on the edge of our seat wondering how the cameraman survived their encounter with the tornado. I like both types of tornado videos, but this is so calming. Sans lightning, anyway. XD
I see a lot of the similarities of storms & waves. 🌊 I surf and always think how every wave is unique and there will never ever be another wave identical to the one I just rode (or watched). Storms are like that - no matter how many funnel clouds or “similar” storms you see, they truly are one of a kind. Like the sunrise or sunset. It’s as if God has painted the sky for our enjoyment ❤
Never say Never. Even pilots use the odds table after they’ve had close calls...and my father stopped flying when too many signs started showing! (Including his best t friend dying in a suspicious crash in one of the planes Dad flew often.
The Yuma F3 tornado was one of the most shifting one, since after 3 perfect loops it change to dusty, to a cone and finally a wedge nearly missing Yuta and was about to do a big circle after all of that loops
I was in that neighborhood right next to the highlands ranch tornado which was what got me into weather. I'm watching the video and I'm like I know where that is I live 3 mins from there
What a great video, thanks for sharing! I think when tornadoes hit, they hit hard or fade away quickly if the inflow isn't good enough, they turn mesocyclones into both wedge and cone tornadoes, when the supercells turn stronger and coast into a monster storm. Its fascinating that moderate risk and low risk aren't as high risk as high risk when the depth of the storm changes from funnel clouds into a stovepipe form interestingly enough, do you agree? Those sprites hit hard with lemon lime.
