Thanks for the jam! I had so much fun and was proud of my results... Didn't expect getting 36th place, but I am so grateful, also thanks for featuring it in 14:49 :) ❤️ Edit: Also, congratulations to the others who managed to submit a full game... And a lot of them looked really good! ❤️
Wow! the quality of games made for this jam have my jaw on the ground! Congrats Vimlark on another successful jam, and congrats to all who took the time to put so much effort into these games.
I was working on making a game for your jam, but i sadly was not able to finish it on time. I'm just now getting back to it to finish and publish it though, so the work I did do on it is not wasted
Used this as an excuse to learn what I need to learn (confusing, I know). The answer is a lot. Hoping to have them learned by next time so I can actually submit something :)
Hey man, I just wanted to say you’ve been a great help in inspiring me to create games. Hopefully by the time another VimJam pops out, I’ll be confident enough to submit.
Missing out of last year Vimjam motivated me to start making gamejams so I would be ready for this one and it was definitely worth it. You can do it :)
These all look great! I started the jam (my first!) but sadly didn't finish. Bad timing mostly. So it goes. My idea was a top down stealth game where you're an office worker trying to use the office copier for personal stuff. You could duck down behind obstacles to remain unseen, throw paperclips to distract co-workers, etc. The idea was that you were always on the edge of being detected and the Boss would keep making announcements that the copier had been moved, could now only be accessed by keycard and so on. Didn't finish but had a lot of fun anyway and learned a lot so thanks for putting this on.
That idea sounds like a lot of fun man. Ngl I could see this turning out quite fun to make and play. But a lot for a jam especially if you try to do it alone.
@@izjgxj4275 Thanks! Yeah. First jam so definitely some over-scoping involved. I was working with PICO-8 since I've been playing with it for a few months and I seriously under-estimated working under the added restrictions. 16 bit integers, it turns out, overflow REALLY fast. Especially when doing things like line-of-sight calculations. And wouldn't you know it? Stealth games have a lot of line-of-sight calculations! But actually the bigger problem was that I really only had about half the days due to other commitments. But, as I say, learned a lot so next time should be a smoother experience.
@@MrSleightofhand I don't think I ever had a jam where I could say I have a finished project. I did a few last year but usually just spent a few hours on the game so never really finished they are still great to learn sth new tho. Just getting a quick idea and even an unfinished prototype can reach so much. Wish you all the best for your next jam
I had a really fun idea of a sniper game where you're a assassin hired by an employee to assassinate their boss, and each boss was gonna be a corporate version of different famous video game bosses, unfortunately may have overscoped a lot lol
Thanks for hosting the jam, VimLark, it was a blast! Its super exciting to see my game in your video! I did want to ask why my game didn't have its name in the corner of the video while it was showing like the rest of the games did? I assume it might have been a small editing mistake, but just wanted to check in that I didn't do something wrong or break a rule or something, haha!
@@XanderwoodGameDev 😍 I'll check it out!! Thanks for letting me know! I watch your videos a lot and I can't tell you how much you've helped me further my passion for making games like vim. You're a g 😉🔥🔥🔥
Just managed to scrape 100th place haha, was a fun jam!
Congrats! Keep it up and remember it's more about how you feel about your work than how other people see it.

@@legrinu Well I finished 3rd and I was still working from monday to friday. So it's definitely possible without being full time on it.
I absolutley love the creations people have made

These games look so sick!
I have payed a lot in steam for lower quality games, some of those were amazing, hope at least half of you try to publish games, they are amazing

"Assistant to the regional monster" is the best title if it's a reference to The Office
Awesome video. Thanks for featuring my game❤👊👍
Seriously, one of my favorites from this jam! The uniqueness alone scored 1st place for me 🏆
