I actually like some of the dialogue in the final game better than this, particularly with Futaba. I’m glad they changed the script, but it actually really sucks that they had to cut the voice acting too. Like... damn.
yeah, I am glad that they changed Makoto's dialogue since hers is much better in the final game. Though I am a bit sad that they cut the voice acting for these...
Can I take a moment to just appreciate the cast. P5 was the first time I actually cared to know the voice actors. No cartoons or animated movies before then did it for me. These easily became some of my favourite anime actors and I've been following them over several different anime and games and it's always a delight to hear familiar voices as many different characters, especially if I wasn't aware they're cast in something. I was gonna go on a long spiel but I forgot my hands were in pain, so in short, I am so proud of all my favourite voice actors and I'm glad their performances open me up to more fantastic games and anime, wherein I can get familiar with more actors and repeat the process. Shout out to all of them.
I always thought it was weird that they recorded so many things from base P5 to Royal, but left out something so impactful like this. Good to know that wasn't their intention, even if they weren't able to use this.
what Atlus Jp likes to do is they give Atlus west the entire script of the game but they don’t tell them what lines will make it into the game or which ones will go unused so they record the lines and when they find out which ones won’t make into the game, this is the results.
they changed some dialogue between here and the final game, but they should've definitely kept in some of the recorded lines that still worked, like 12/24 with your teamates in the Velvet Room in vanilla P5, where they only had one fully voiced line.
Or that moment with Lavenza before final battle, where she tells you that loves you. Voiced lines were different from text ones, like these... Makes me wonder even more, why they removed voices in 3rd awakening
If there's one criticism I have about the 3rd semester, it's that the Phantom Thieves and Sumire don't tell Maruki why they're ditching the fake reality. You just fight him. That's it.
Well they learn of why Maruki is using the power he gained in the way he’s using it through the videotapes that hold events that have happened in his past, including what had happened to the woman he once called his girlfriend, Rumi, so I think maybe the records of Maruki’s past make up for it.
@@alexhuff357 That's... not an excuse though. All they needed was at the very least, some additional dialogue before the fight from each of the party members telling Maruki why they reject the fake reality. Have it end with Maruki asking Sumire "You too, Yoshizawa-san? I'm sure you can't live with the pain of your sister forever." and Sumire telling him she's ready to move on, why that is, and that he needs to stop. Even better, have a newly animated cutscene with this. It could've accompanied Sumire's real awakening cutscene which was really epic. It showed Sumire's resolve and they could've gone further by showing her tell the man responsible for her changed life straight. The cutscene before fighting Okumura is one of my favourites because, while it was funny after Morgana hit the switch because he wasn't expecting that, the dialogue from him was really good because it showed he values their company still. The 3rd semester, while really good, felt somewhat rushed in my opinion.
@@Raydnt69 I know, but it felt rushed. Sumire especially could have had a confrontation with Maruki rather than you having an option to tell him "she's doing fine" when you meet him to give the calling card and then he's like "oh, if only that were true", essentially acting as if he knows better. She should have spoken directly to him before the fight. The whole semester felt a bit rushed to be honest.
For me, it felt like they did it because, even if they got to live their best lives, Maruki would be the only one stuck living in awful reality. For me, personally, I don't immediately disagree with what Maruki was doing, but I would argue that staying in his world would mean denying any willingness to care for and improve upon what's actually there and what's left. Abandoning reality so easily would be no different than saying that any world not perfect in my eyes isn't worth preserving.
I get why they scrapped those and ultimately replaced them with a rendition that's more fitting to both the plot and their character. But man, as an Ann enjoyer, except for a few minor parts, her voice lines are so much better than what we got, we were robbed
This is one of these cuts that make me say, "yeah, I see why they cut it." Of course while it would be cool to have them be voiced, some of the non-voiced ones are written better, and it's kinda unrealistic to get the voice actors to redo the lines with all the other work they had to do
Same, it would've been nice to have the unvoiced ones, voiced but I feel the ones we did get in the end better give a sense of why these guys are so united and why they rejected Maruki's reality.
I remembering hearing a streamer comment on how the third awakening should have been voice because it would give more impact. So hearing this makes me wonder why weren’t they voice in the game? Only one of them was actually voiced and it’s not always guaranteed you’ll get that third awakening.
Morgana:"And that's why.....I'll protect you, no matter what happens" ....Wait... Aigis in p3: "I'll always be by your side.....protecting you" Oh shit, i know where this is going! XD
So from what I'm seeing it seems the reason they changed the dialogue last minute is because they wanted the 3rd Awakenings to reflect that the Thieves had grown and that rather than simply accept their weaknesses, they wanted to stand up for it and fight for it along with the person who helped them find their future. This dialogue, while it does acknowledge those weaknesses it doesn't reflect the Thieves desire to fight for their own will or oppose Maruki's potential future. IMO that does make more sense.
That being said, accept their weakness but still advance and grown is part of what make their third persona all about the original self, undistorted of lies, not runing from reality.
@@loxnbagels9196 It doesn't look like it's rushed, it's developed after they create P5 for around 3-4 years I think. It's most likely some late-hour decision on the script AFTER they recorded it? Or they are just plain lazy and skimped past the QC. But a bunch of cut scenes doesn't look good to begin with. (Trust me, there's more than the ones you see here.)
I do like the theme of truly accepting one's faults being the key to truly being one's real self, very Persona-y, and lines up really well with the flip side of this that was also cut.
I really do wish they had been able to voice the dialogue in the final version. After hearing this and comparing I think the final version does most of the dialogue much better. Although I appreciate how this version's is structured out, it doesn't hit the right tone or have right focus to me.
it makes sense because of her character, but it's.. weird.. considering the fact that if this takes place in the third semester then she's gotten rid of peanut head perverted creep guy a long time ago
Very weird. So they actually did go through all the effort of including voice lines in this scenes, but then chose not to use them? The dialogue seems a bit different, so... maybe last minute changes that they couldn't record? IDK. Still feels very weird. We're likely never going to get an explanation, but I'd be very curious as to what happened behind the scenes to make them come to this decision.
So they had audio for this part, but they didn't use it? I always thought it was weird that this part wasn't voice acted, so I guess it makes sense. I wonder why they didn't use it
I have a small theory that the reason these scenes were changed may have been a result of Persona 5 Strikers own delay. While accepting the weak and negative aspects of oneself has always been a core aspect of this series, the strive to face that pain and fight for your own future is what defines the Phantom Thieves. We see in both Persona Q2 and Strikers what someones grief, fear and pain can do to them and in those games the Phantom Thieves are unwavering in their desire to want to help those people overcome their trauma so they're free to be themselves and face reality. I think the final cut version aligns far more clearly to what these guys have always believed in.
I really dont understand what the developers were thinking. Why would you not give characters voices during the finale of their character arcs? Especially when the voice lines ARE THERE?
The lines are of pretty low quality wording, so what I think was the voice recordings were already done and then there's a last minute notice where Atlus QC said the lines aren't meeting quality standards and had the scriptwriter rewrote the whole thing. However for some odd reason (probably final minute change/oversight?) they didn't even bother to re-invite the VAs.
