    8 years... How time flies. I'm glad I can come back to the place where my love for d&d started. It kinda shaped my life in a really radical way, and to think it started with lava bears is hilarious. Technically, lava bears are the cause of my figuring out my gender identity, finding the love of my life, and getting a job writing monster smut. Weird to think about.

    Is it weird that I find Graham's voice really soothing? His voice is perfect for a radio personality for a classical music station.

    This will always be one of my favorite D&D live plays. It probably has more to do with being how I got introduced to LRR as looking back on it I wish the episodes were longer and less chatty lol.

    ***** Fair feedback! Like I said in the episode, I'm only devoting that much time to the sponsor callout in the first episode. We *will* be reminding you every episode, but briefly.
    Jer intentionally hand-waved the talking to NPCs in town stuff because this adventure was promised as an "old-school" D&D dungeon crawl, and we wanted to jump right in. For what it's worth, he's very good at that, and I'm sure you'll enjoy his NPC interactions in future sessions.
    The whole intent of the show is not to simply watch D&D, but to watch *us* play D&D, and part of that is our humour and table-talk. Us joking around and making side comments is going to be part of the entertainment, so that is unlikely to change.
    All that said, I appreciate the feedback and I think that if you keep watching, you'll enjoy the episodes to come :)

    UPDATE on our sponsorship!
    Wyrmwood Gaming encountered an issue with their retail platform that prevented them from giving free shipping to international orders (which they had always wanted to do), so they've decided to change it from free shipping to 18% off with our code.
    This means everyone worldwide can take advantage of this deal!

    I think this is the first recorded roleplaying game video I've watched where each person's voice is approximately the same volume, people actually explain in detail what they're doing. It really gives the feel that you're sitting at the table with them.

    Once, I was part of a long running d&d campaign that had a parthian rule. The parthian rule is that upon leaving the game (like to sleep, go to a library, sharpen a knife, take a hike, cook a turkey, etc), you get to add one new rule, condition, or boss. And since that campaign had 45 different people involved at different points, and took over 5 months, it eventually got to the point where the campaign was completed via a (real) rubber chicken, an electricity spell, 13 (Obviously fake) drow livers, and a cup of tea.

    Huge fan of all your videos me and friends watch the big loops of them while we play magic but these might be my absolute favorite videos . I only played D&D once almost 13 years ago and though I love lots of nerdy things, this holds a special place in my heart and it might also be because my friends were never as awesome at improvising funny stuff which is totally why you guys are all great, I am really excited to see continued content in this line with maybe more D&d in addition to all your excellent content :D

    The Flaming Bear:
    Hot cocoa (dark, not sweet) with chilli served in a coconut. Add Amaretto over the back of a spoon so it sits on top and you can light it, stir to extiguish. Presumably coconuts are rare in the northwest so you'd want to reuse them.

    Ok, I love that you guys did this and obviously did as much work as you good to do it as correctly as you wanted. I loved it, and as a GM, I really love seeing others run and play their games. That said... Can I give a tiny quibble? A minute criticism?
    I think I would've liked to have seen people interact with the town. Like, instead of Jer telling about the problems, have the PCs run into examples of what's been going on. I suspect this might've been dropped for the sake of speeding stuff up (because getting Players to get to the right place at the right time isn't something you can predict as a GM. Seriously. Like herding cats).
    That said, Jer has awesome boxed text. Felt like old school dungeon fun to me.

    After having watched this all when it came out, getting the 5th ed D&D books, and then coming back to watch this in my spare time, I have 1 complaint: They misread the Sorcerer's Tides of Chaos feature. Once it is used up, but before it is regained via long rest, anytime the sorcerer casts a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, the DM can have them roll on the Wild Magic Surge *table*, skipping the d20 roll! We could have had a lot more crazy random awesomeness!

    I listened to the podcast version of this first, and then watched this version (well, about half of it.)
    The audio mixing, for the record, seems to be vastly superior on the podcast version - there are times where I'm struggling to hear people in the video/TH-cam version (particularly Cameron, although I fear that's kind of a regular thing with Cam, as he's soft-spoken).
    I love the title card and various character images and so on. They're very well-done, but I've been enjoying Featherweight's art for a while now. :D
    The game itself seems fun, and please continue to include little bits about "in 5th edition, things are THIS way" because I (like possibly others) have not yet played 5th Edition and am not very familiar with all the rules. It's very helpful for me, at the least. I'm excited to see how this game progresses.
    Now, question - it's clear Jer put a TON of work into this (even writing up boxed text, o mai!) Once the game is finished, will this be available to the public in any way (either for free, donation, or purchase?)

    • @loadingreadyrun
      @loadingreadyrun  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      AislinnBMln The audio mix is exactly the same, it may be that phenomenon where watching a video divides your attention somewhat?
      I don't know. In any case, thanks for the feedback!

    • @SerifinaPhnx
      @SerifinaPhnx 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      loadingreadyrun I had a feeling that might be the case. I think it may be a difference in speakers, actually - I listen to the podcast primarily while I'm driving (and my car has excellent sound), while TH-cam videos I watch at home, on my laptop, which those speakers are... not as good. Nor anywhere near as strong.

      WotC is notoriously bad at properly assessing how difficult their monsters are, so you have things like a Harpy with a massive radius charm effect at CR1, or creatures with a save-or-die attack on intelligence at CR2. It does take some smarts as a DM to not cause a catastrophe.

    Cameron really needs to do voice acting. That voice is so silky.

    Is the free shipping world wide? If so I'll be ordering something for sure. Otherwise shipping to Finland seems to always cost as much as the product I'm buying :(

      Draugo They encountered this as an issue within their shipping platform, and have changed it to a flat 18% off for everyone. Sorry for the change, but I hope that helps you!

      Finland mentioned! Flat 18% of the product price is still pretty fair intl price...

    So, this will be my first time through the vidcast. I first came across this as a podcast on Podcast Addict. If this is you first time, let me just tell you it the story arc is well conceived, the characters are fun and interesting, and the players themselves add a lot to the cast. So, if you are on the fence about if you should continue listening/watching...yes, yes you should. To the players: If you have the adventure in pdf form I would like to get my hands on it for my group, if not, I hope you don't mind if I do a bit of reverse engineering of it.
