Love watching these but you guys really need to get your audio sorted out. With half the group sitting casually, the other half up really close to the mics, and the combination of yelling vs quieter personalities, its a constant battle to turn up and down the volume to compensate. That being said I had never seen D&D played before but it looks like a lot more fun than I gave it credit!
Yay! Another episode! I started playing a pen-and-paper RPG called Final Fantasy d20 just about the time your first episode was released and I saw this and wondered "Hey, maybe I can learn more while watching awesome LRR stuff!"
I share the same name as the turtle. It's fairly uncommon, so it kinda kept catching me off guard when you kept saying when you wanted Donovan to do stuff. Also: the peaking is real.
After hearing that the turtle had hooks in its shell, my first instinct was to tie the characters to the turtle or at least attach reins. Would have been interesting to see if that would have completely avoided the Roper encounter. Apparently it only had a single chance to grab someone with its four tentacles before they were past it.
Dear DM Jer! :) I am a great fan of the show now, and I fell in love with this Adventure. I would be so happy, if you could share/publish this adventure in the near future. Keep it up guys, you are entertaining on high level! This is rare thing in our days in my opinion.
The artwork that occasionally appears in these episodes: Is there an archive of them I can view somewhere? I found the character profiles on Featherweight's site but not much else.
I have to add my comment as well - I do the audio-only version via the iTunes podcast system, and Jer is simply too quiet. If I'm listening via headphones/earbuds, I literally cannot get the volume up high enough to hear him well. If I'm in my car, the result is having most of the voices blasting me while Jer is simply quiet. (Alex is also too quiet on the whole, although not to the same degree.)
EternalDensity Wasn't it obvious though? I mean, it has turtles etched on the didgeridoo. It's a lava temple. Jer specifically said in the lavatube room that it was like a river flowing through. I'm not some sort of guru here, am I?
Jer, please, PLEASE change the audio balance whenever you're talking in these, because you are very quiet compared to the rest of the team. I have to crank my tv's volume to 40 when you talk, then make sure to put it bat at 15 before anyone else does.
phyrexian obliterator is powerful, but there's also Bob, Liliana, demonic tutor, dark ritual, etc. The power level on some black cards is unbelievably high.
Favorite exchange: "It doesn't even let go?" "No." "What a dick of a tentacle." "Tenta-dick" "What? WHAT!? Eww" "A dick-tacle" "Dick-tacles are the worse." "That's just generally what I call my dick." "I continue swear in under-common."
"I summon Kozilek, Butcher of Truth - who is pissed because his ankles . . . erm lowest parts of his tentacles ? . . . are in the lava - and I get to . . . cast 4 more spells this turn ? . . . and then Kozilek attacks the creature for a bunch and the creature has to sacrifice . . . 4 tenticles ? This is weird."
My biggest sorrow was that he didn't go with the booster from Urza's Block. That had all the brokenness, right? (I didn't play back then, but I've heard stories.)
"Real men draft with Arabian Nights" they could have played Shahrazad actually I think the bone splinter or the volcanic submersion would have been nice; and I don't think Oblivion Ring would have worked because this stalactite is a creature-land but doom blade could have.
Episode 8 and I still can't stand the chick. Hate her voice and I hate how she makes her character act. I understand that it's an RPG and that she is playing a "cool guy" character, but the way she delivers her actions is fucking irritating.

43:57 the look on Graham s face when they say the turtle will be there any second...priceless.
I almost lost it when Alex picked his nose on camera. That takes balls dude. Well done. xD
When the hell was that?
5:20 when Paul is playing the didgeridoo in the lava for the first time.
+CravenTHC And a double dig at that, with an over-the-shoulder flick for extra tech points.
Yay! Another episode! I started playing a pen-and-paper RPG called Final Fantasy d20 just about the time your first episode was released and I saw this and wondered "Hey, maybe I can learn more while watching awesome LRR stuff!"
Never thought I would ever in my life hear the words "Maybe more lava is better." lol
I share the same name as the turtle. It's fairly uncommon, so it kinda kept catching me off guard when you kept saying when you wanted Donovan to do stuff. Also: the peaking is real.
Guess you've been Knowngamer for 6 years. :)

More great D&D dialogue: "DERG! STOP THE TURTLE!"

3:56 As he goes to put it into the lava, I push him in.
"lava lake slam!" now that sounds like a grate drink

You called the turtle Donovan, and that's my name! YAY
Bone splinters: "I am the bone of my Sword(s)" a little too literally there XD.
I have to add my comment as well - I do the audio-only version via the iTunes podcast system, and Jer is simply too quiet. 3:51 thank you, Paul 😂
Quick, hit the stalactites with your crowbars!
"Make the noise, I live for the noise!"
I just want to say... I called the lava turtle ride. Two episodes ago.
When it happened, tho no one was around, when I was watching it I said, someone in the comments predicted that! lol!
Tony Lone Fight There was a minor spoiler though: turtles got mentioned in conjunction with the didgeridoo during Desert Bus.
EternalDensity Wasn't it obvious though? I mean, it has turtles etched on the didgeridoo. It's a lava temple. Jer specifically said in the lavatube room that it was like a river flowing through. I'm not some sort of guru here, am I?
Morgan Wood It wasn't obvious to me! :-) I guess I see turtles and I think water. I thought it was a good twist.
Tony Lone Fight It's crazy fantasy, I'll say that.
I know this is way past when the campaign has been dealt with, but if you ever re-visit redoing these, please please please adjust the audio!!!

....Or back down to 25 or whatever. It's still far too large of a difference to be palatable, though. Please mess with it in editing.
Yeah, Jer is really quiet and James is really loud. ^^;;
been f5ing all day for this... I thought we were promised a 90 minute episode this week. It's barely 70 minutes.
Nice use of the word "Mega fauna"
Best intro is best intro.
Shout out to the melee fighters, way to have fun!
Ancient Red Dragon Turtle, Lava Primordial based, Featherweight? did I get that right? you are awesome!
Specturtular view, come on guys, gotta hit all the pun damage.
You might say that there was a terrible didgeri-duet...
This is my first time watching I hope that's a Dragon turtle
Lol 'Volcanic Submersion'. What are the odds.
Honestly that was a great didgeridoo
phyrexian obliterator is powerful, but there's also Bob, Liliana, demonic tutor, dark ritual, etc. The power level on some black cards is unbelievably high.
Ironically the name of the turtle should have been Shredder.. :p
Play a didgeridoo in pudding? That's not Newtonian!
I would have loved a Shahrazad for the magic booster pack card. just start another DnD session within this session.
This feels so much like a wacky Shadows over Mystara mod...
wizards of the coast i demand a lava turtle ledgendary creature in future set make it happen we demand lava turtles
I was rooting so hard for the Bonesplitters.
8 episodes in, no Lava Bears yet :(
so i guess this is the episode where they stopped checking the sound levels
So did the Strix contribute significantly? I must know!
Why not Franklin the turtle? Have you no childhoods?!
OOH, lava displacer beasts
Favorite exchange:
"It doesn't even let go?"
"No."
"What a dick of a tentacle."
"Tenta-dick"
"What? WHAT!? Eww"
"A dick-tacle"
"Dick-tacles are the worse."
"That's just generally what I call my dick."
"I continue swear in under-common."
55:00 for TTC episode
Wild magic, phft, more like Mild magic.
you should have opened rise of the eldrazi...
This is weird."
star jurrasic park theme at ~15:00 for the lols
What if they opened a pack of Rise of the Eldrazi?
they spent like an hour fighting a rock
Not as bad as my first D&D game. We spent over an hour trying to get across a mud pond. It ended up being 2 feet deep when someone fell in.
Kelvin!
I love it when THEY SCREAM INTO THEIR MICS. STOP IT, LEARN TO AUDIO ENGINEER, OR TELL THEM TO GET THEIR MOUTHS OUT FROM AROUND THE MIC.
He played booster tooter lol.
My biggest sorrow was that he didn't go with the booster from Urza's Block. That had all the brokenness, right? (I didn't play back then, but I've heard stories.)

jarrassic park kazoo version
21:42 Crapshots
Genticles
Not true ate the 4 feet of cake in 1 hour. In small circle i crawled through
lol at 5:24 guy picks his nose rolls it then flings the ball backwards
wait a "stall ick tight" not a "stah lag tight" lol cultural differences
Nah. He's just saying it wrong. He's literally the only person I've ever heard say it like that.
Episode 8 and I still can't stand the chick. Hate her voice and I hate how she makes her character act. I understand that it's an RPG and that she is playing a "cool guy" character, but the way she delivers her actions is fucking irritating.
+Charles, Neverthere 5'8" and 125lbs. Definitely not fat. Finished the series and I still stand by my comment.
I wasn't calling you fat. I was saying that you sound like some random dude from the /tg/ board on 4chan.
+Charles, Neverthere Oh. I thought you just put random backslashes in the words "fat guy" lol
