Hi! Come with me on my journey through the Aid and Attendance application process! It was not fun! But in the end, I danced!! Have you gone through this process yourself? I'd love to hear your comment! How Confident are You as a Family Caregiver? Take the Quiz www.sofiaamirpoor.com/Home
Thank you Sofía, you are truly a God-sent. You made the process so simple. I have 1 question: I live in New York State and NY State also have a Program that pays for AID and Attendance. I also have private insurance that I can apply for Aid and assistance. Should I apply for both in Hope of one being approved, or which one do you recommend I start with?
I applaud you for helping your father. He is truly blessed to have a daughter who took the time and researched additional benefits for his care. More importantly; we are blessed to have people like your father who raised his right hand and essentially said "I'll do it, I'll go". I wish the rest of the country were appreciative of the fact that we still have WWII veterans among us and we need to give them a special thank you every chance we get. You are doing right by your father, your family, and the country by helping this hero. Thank you for making these videos and explaining your experiences. I must admit not very many people publish numbers like you do but it does help other veterans and their family members in regards to expecting the unexpected. I myself am a volunteer service officer at a local VFW and helping veterans is a top priority for me because I know first hand what it is like to navigate the complex maze of VA forms and applications. Keep doing what you are doing and tell you father "Thank you for your service".
Roadtrek Ralph - Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I did pick up the phone and called my Dad and read him your words. Needless to say, he was tickled! He said, "I always like it when people notice me". You're right, there aren't many WWII vets left, and they all need our support, honor, and appreciation as much as possible!
I am about to quit my horrible 100k job, so I can take care of my father these last years, I need any and all info you can give me, please continue your videos, love them

Very good, your dad is blessed to have you. My dad passed away in 2013. My dad served in the Army and my parents were married over 50 plus years (lol one wife) . I found a service to help me with the Application process but they wanted to charge $2400 which I think is excessive. They claim to be experts . I may want to take this on myself but will need as much info as you can provide.

I have a question was your dad already in the VA system getting VA benefits already ? When I look online my husband qualifies for AA but they are asking me to file a disability claim
@Diana Hall No, my dad never used the VA system before getting A&A
@@SofiaAmirpoor I have tried to get my husband in the VA w no luck our elder attorney told me about the AA . I applied but I guess it’s more than just that one form . That’s next on my list of things to do. TY for your answer… this VA stuff has been so difficult to manage
my husband 100% disability still available to qualify for this program?
SMC yes not the pension. I just applied 3 weeks ago and in the decision phase I have my fingers crossed. It the fact it’s in the decision phase so quick I do not have my hopes up high.
Must my Mom be receiving a VA pension in order to qualify for A&A benefit? Mom is 91, meets the requirements and is the surviving spouse of a Korean War Vet. My Dad was not receiving a pension. Thank you!
@Donna Pratt no I don’t think so, A&A is considered a pension. Apply! Good luck! And watch my video on the step by step application process! Their website has changed a bit, but the steps are the same
@@SofiaAmirpoor THANK YOU!!!
Did you have to go to a C&P exam for it or did they just go off your paperwork evidence?
@Michael Anastasio Hi. Dad’s PCP filled out the VA form as proof. That was it!
@@SofiaAmirpoor was his pcp a va doctor??
@Michael Anastasio. No, VA doctor is not needed to fill out paperwork for Aid and Attendant program, just the regular doctor. My dad has never seen a VA doctor in his life.
@@SofiaAmirpoor thank you so much for the info and your time.
What if you're already receiving housebound benefits which isn't much do you think u would have a better chance with that? Or is it just hard to get it period?? I'm 100% p/t and now I have an EXTREMELY difficult time completing my basic day to day activities. Any info is appreciated..
Hi Joey, I don't know the answer regarding which might be better for you, but here is the VA Helpline: 800-827-1000 They are very helpful and friendly and should be able to give you much better advise than me! Good luck!
They probably go through all that hoping the claimant doesn't last through the process :(
Can you be a caregiver and receive Aid and Attendance?
As a caregiver, you don’t receive Aid and Attendance money. It is paid to the veteran (or their eligible spouse) and they can choose to use it to pay you for providing care.
It took 8 months they got 15,000
@colette-adcock That's awesome! That's just about what my experience was for my Dad. Thanks for sharing!
I hope I won’t experience your frustrations. Congrats.👍
I hope so too .
Will you share with me
Looks likes some lucky guy's cute wife.
