    NEW DEVELOPMENT - The Topsky company has started asking me for help to improve the product........alright....I'll give it another go and see if they're actually open to constructive criticism. No I am not rude to developers and companies at all when I talk to them. I have very high respect for anyone that's investing time and money into anything.

    Pity but no surprise...I've learnt to trust the word of anyone who uses the words 'chromatic aberration'. Good honest review Kabab...nice one

  • @NJ-Tech
    @NJ-Tech 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    wow. i don't even think ill bother with a part 2 on these after seeing this. I can't describe the disappointment, especially for those who pre ordered. The chromatic aberration reminds me of the rainbow effect you would get on LED projectors when you turn your head fast scanning the picture. Oh well..next!

      So agree!!! hopefully they do away with this whole pre-ordering and not giving preview version to the top reviewers.
      plus this kind of failure just will re-enforce the reason why fatsharks cost what they do:(

    Yet more plastic and silicon for the landfill... hooray for needless multiplicity. Why would they throw all these resources into a new product, and not consult anyone who would buy it? Was it all just lost in translation?

    • @mooosestang

      This has always baffled me, especially with frames in this hobby.

    • @mistercohaagen
      @mistercohaagen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Given the average lifespan of a freestyle / racing drone not piloted by MrSteele, this entire hobby is probably one of the fastest ways to simultaneously move western debt easterly, and toxic non-recyclable / degradable balls of leaded alloys and microscopic needles of carbon and fiberglass into the landfills of the west. I'm guilty of this myself, and am starting to wonder why I keep doing it when it has long since devolved into another "keeping up with the Joneses" situation that doesn't produce anything more than the symptoms of yet another addiction.

    I really dont get your issues with the screens. I have flown them now for 3-4 hours.
    The picture is really clear, I upped the settings to 80/80/75. I also can see the whole screen (Might be a OSD 4:3, 16:9 conversion issue and not the actual FPV feed getting chopped)
    Even the ghosting you seem to experience I cant confirm.
    I have flown through the woods with these goggles and had no issue seeing even little branches.
    Im used to big box goggle screens, and had no problem flying these.
    What i noticed are some reflections on the bottom of the screen.
    The stock reciever is working really good for non diversity if you put a decent antenna on.
    For the screens: Try hooking up your goggles to a computer and input HDMI, I would guess it would be really nice.
    Might be the FPV gear on your Quad. With these goggles I noticed for the first time that my camera was slightly out of focus.
    Also the autoscan isnt super reliable maybe you didnt hit the right channel.
    Would be great of you to be so fair to give them another real chance. Chances are the issue is on your side.

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MsKoffeinjunky I did plug them into my computer. Same crap. What I've said in this video has been echoed by four or five other reviews so far too. Difficult for us all to be misinforming indipendantly.

    • @MsKoffeinjunky
      @MsKoffeinjunky 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Strange.. I have flown one more time since my last comment.
      By "ghosting" you mean that moving objekt leave a blurry trail behind them and details washing into each other? Mine is completely sharp.
      Even with a cheap cam on my Arfun 95.
      At first I was on the wrong channel again and the clouds were getting black patches when the white was too white.
      I dont own any Fatsharks, maybe it is some habituation thing.
      Colore brightness and contrast settings are way to low at 50.

    11:00 That menu is used in the Eachine EV800 budget box goggles, as well as the output switching/channel selection things. So they are literally using the same technology in a £300 goggles as £40 goggles. Really shows the quality.

  • @moren0d1
    @moren0d1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for another great video. A
    Other YT reviewers have mentioned the fan runs too fast and high pitched. Also the fan first vents into the goggles, collecting heat that then circulates to the lens and on your eyes. The hot air dries your eyes out. It seems these should be totally avoided until several large improvements are made.

    I happen to prefer the Aomway Commanders. Even though we can't change modules they still kick ass. The screens are sweet and the features you get outway the module being proprietary. The reception on the commanders is damn good for being in house or whatever they chose. They are a better option for those who want an option ready to go.

    I agree ... with the slight blue color even with analog inputs... It's a bit more darker, colors less vivid, contrast less precize.... than V1 and competitors but screen are real HD... So HD performances of the screens are decreased with all the polorization systems. Is it better at then end than a clasic VGA display.... Yes but not incredibily much better

    The front black faceplate doesn't allow the SMA port to be in the normal position when the module is installed in the left-hand side of the goggles. Mounting a module on the right side would allow you to use the front black plate and a standard rx module (since the SMA would now be out of the way). V2 of these goggles should definitely have that changed.

    I see this pattern so often with many Chinese brands, they design a new innovative product for a great price but then completely miss the mark on a crucial feature. I'm hoping Eachine, for example have taken on board the EV100 criticisms and bring out new goggles with a proper screen and module bay.

    I ummed and ahhhed for months over my goggle purchase, agonising over 16:9 and 4:3, I had the commanders on order for a while but got bored waiting for stock and went for HD3 with Laforge v2. It's funny, I don't even think about my goggles anymore, I just put them on my face and fly.. They might be expensive, but they work. Every time. I think I made the right choice :)

  • @CoppertopFPV
    @CoppertopFPV 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    the dominator v3 is subpar compared to skyzone v+ which has better optics and doesn't suffer from looking down a tunnel syndrome.. it takes 10 minutes to add a fan. Unless you have to have a separate receiver (it has excellent diversity and a useful spectrum analyser) i don't know why anyone is using the v3. its often on sale on banggood and when it is, its cheaper too. the camera is also surprisingly useful if you wear specs. It has crap dvr quality, however.

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Coppertop FPV yep. But nobody will ever know because the skyzones are like $10 more and don't have a marketing department. Also, there's a module coming soon that everyone will want. So the inability to swap modules is not gonna be very good soon.

    It is so simple but still they want to reinvent the goggles. This makes that fatshark even with the things that are not good, still the best overall goggle.
    3d print a new casing for the goggle and you can design it as you want, you only need the electronics.

    great review. really appreciate the candor. The upside down module and odd fitment of the module doesn't bother me .. but the optics and video has to be beautiful or it is all a waste, esp with Prosight. Though I understand Topsky is reworking the optics right now, and delaying shipping again for this issue - it seems the video is still bad beyond hope, such as with cropping. waiting for the next gen Fatsharks I guess .. if they ever deliver 720p with glass optics. Unfortunately Aomway is a company that hasn't spoken to me yet. But they also don't need my help. They're doing great. All they need to do is put in an external module. Fatshark on the other hand, I don't really want any connection with. Aside from the obvious reasons why so many don't like them, I've heard they've done things like buy out all the lenses from the Aomway lens manufacturer for a year just to stunt development of the Commanders. That's like the absolute worst business practice ever for the consumer. I do know they have some new things they're working on and they're frikin awesome. But I don't know of any completed goggle products they have coming. The next logical step tech wise for us is to move to OLED screens. The higher contrast of the screen should give us even more dynamic range from out shitty fpv cameras. The world is not going digital any time soon if you ask me. There are two new digital products on the way but the one I have been testing is still super bulky and not something I would deal with because it's not real much better than my analog monster cameras.

    I watched NJ tech review funny thing is they get worse when you open them. The Fan blowing hot air on your face is one of the dumbest things they did. It's almost like they didnt do any prototypes and have actual pilots try them and give feedback. It's pretty amazing that only fatshark can get this right. The commanders are nice and I thought about buying a pair what stopped me was not having bays. What happens if the module goes bad? You have to buy new ones or try to fix them. Hopefully someone can work with aomway on a new set of Goggles with removable module bays or even skyzone. At least those companies got a decent goggle.

    Good that you managed to put actual image from googles in here. Seems FX7 creators belong to some kind of bug race where facet eyes with multiple lens and chromatic aberrations is considered normal :) I already wrote mine thoughts below AndyRC review and wouldn't repeat. Topsky packed F7X with features \m/ but they forgot about ergonomics and match to already established plugin module "standard". Impossibility to record DVR footage in NTSC mode is a simple fail. In short - VR googles with added FPV feature and casing design ripped from anime cartoons in hope to catch attention from certain range of geeks. I already thought about getting these, but... no. Please fix ergonomics first, dear Topsky. And maybe hire some of reviewers here as part-time consultant first before starting to make a new product.

    Surprising. I guess we know why fatshark doesn’t bother to innovate. It’s amazing with all the fpv copycats, some company hasn’t just copied FS already and sell it at a more competitive price.
    It appears the market is desperate to keep the $350 price point. The reality should be closer to $100 for the current electronics.
    It’s good to see some of the innovation. Eachine’s focal distance adjustment and the IR sensor on these are amazing and simple innovations.
    Heck, at this point, I’d be happy if FS would include a quality aftermarket RX module or at least make it easier to install laforge. I use furious because it’s so much easier to deal with, but I’d like to try laforge.

      InFrontOfYourBack1 fatshark has bought out a years supply of the lenses from the factory that makes the lenses for the Aomway goggles. Fatshark isn't even using the lenses. They just wanted to limit the production of the commanders...

    It's a shame, I really wanted these to help bring the price of fatsharks down a little, I honestly wouldn't even fuss over the module being upside down, I barely even look at mine these days.

    What is a good set of "budget" goggles that have diversity? I'm looking at the Skyzone V2s and Aomway Commanders, but both of these are quite expensive and do not have removable modules. Is there anything out there that's sub $300, or do I have to buy Dom V3s to get what I'm looking for?

      Keith Whitehead I really didn't want to and have worked hard to eliminate that tone from my videos but this product deserved it. It's such a piece of junk coming from a company that advertised it's ass off and didn't listen to anyone.... Now they're asking questions. They asked PiroflipRC if they wanted to be the US distributor. If accepted, PiroflipRC would need to delete all negative reviews off the PiroflipRC page. Lack every drop of honor. Still I was hoping for at least a comparable product. Of course PiroflipRC said absolutely not.

You know I can really appreciate the fact that because "I am sure " that your DR. salary affords you the ability to trash any bullshit with the knowledge that you most certainly don't need anyone's gear for free anyway. And so the risk of loosing a potential manufacturer product endorsement has no sway on ya brother. Most excellent.
