But most importantly : Have the Directional Scanner Window open next to the hacking board and spam the V key to keep scanning so you don't get dropped, caught and killed by other players who might want to drop in unannounced on a lonely explorer in low or null security space. Investing in a cloak and the skills associated to fit it, even prototype, can allow you to hide if you see something appear, and ponder your next move.
@@maksphoto78 Truthfully : it depends on the system you are in. I like to keep it readable and as big a range as I can. If I see something appear, I cloak and then reduce distance progressively until it disappears. @@maksphoto78 As big as possible, it's better to lower it down if you occasionally get someone there and see if a ship is getting close, unless you have a certain target not moving in some distance without relocating and it can potentially jump on your data/relic site.
CCP person didn't mention here that landing a killing "attack" is not resulting in retaliation, so you can safely finish low hp nodes. And because of that, Kernel rot, if you don't have a t2 data/relic that does 30 damage an anti-virus, is better used on the anti-virus, because you can half its hp and last-hit without taking sharp 40 damage. in the process.
Get into a cheetah and make your way into stain. Stain has a bunch of intact armor plates in The relic sights and you can make anywhere between 300 mil to 700 mL a day. You just have to wormhole your way out and be careful. If anyone is in the system you do not hack the sites.
Definitely gotten slimmer the last month or two. May just be me, but the loot seems less in value as well. I've taken to supplementing my exploring with other income sources.
things ccp missed/left out: - Use cargo scanner before hacking - Don’t orbit while hacking - Keep range 2250m at container - turn your mwd off - Rule of 8 / Before 8 It’s Bait - Filament drops in data sites - Ghost sites - Sleeper sites - Silent battlegrounds - Sleeper caches
If you use a cargo scanner and leave a container unhacked, the site will take ~2h to despawn and only after that the respawn timer is triggerd. If you open / destroy all containers the Site will despawn when you leave the Grid (and therefore respawn faster). So if you are a Solo Player you can use the scanner, otherwise Please open / destroy all Containers (avoid cherrypicking). By that you aviod that any1 scanns a Data/Relic site only to find 1-2 unhacked but empty containers

What's the good range for directional scan? I keep it at 5AU.

Alt+D for Dscan. I've forgotten how to open it normally.
This is a very good beginners guide on hacking. Nice :)

Too bad there are hardly any data or relic sites around. Most of sites seem to be combat, wormhole, ore, etc.
Man, I wish I could find ore sites. The ones I _do_ find are usually empty.
highsec explo is shit, grab a noise-5 and start in Null, and also explore any wormholes you find

why not orbit? Because you may potentially get between a wreck and a warp out spot, preventing a warp during acceleration?

Part of what sucks about hacking is "progression" means being able to faceroll the hacking minigame. Nothing cool happens, it just becomes convenient
