      I’m thinking brook could be like our Virat Kohli. Man looks so comfortable at this level. He’s playing in his 5th or 6th test yet he scoring like a madman and playing like he’s been around for 10 years. Honestly reminds me of the early years of Kevin Pietersen. What a player we have a number 5. Gonna be hard for bairstow to get back in now.

      There's really no correspondence at all between opening in T20 cricket and opening in Test cricket. In the former you're expected to go harder than the others because of the fielding restrictions while in the latter you're expected to be more watchful than the others. The number of players opening in both is pretty small these days and getting smaller. To be honest, if Crawley makes room for Bairstow, I think that Brook is the most likely to fill in as opener. I know. Reckon the Kiwis were to embarrassed to put up a 15 minute video of brook pummelling the Kiwi bowlers all over the basin. They know they’ve lost this test. Had us 21-3 on a Green seamer and finish the day 300 plus. With no wickets lost. When they play in our country the ECB puts longer highlights in there channel like when Mitchell scored that memorable double ton. They gotta take a leaf out of the England admins book. Joke really cos I was sleeping last night, woke up saw brook was 184 not at close of play and wanted to see the fire works. Shame.

      @@stevemercer5769 do you know, I've been asking this as well, he's looking so comfortable with the gloves these days... but I do see Foakes as the kind of wicket keeper/ batsman we've been looking for for decades. We had Matt Prior for not long enough and his glove-work could be sketchy, Stewart I felt we were losing our best opener when he kept, Jack Russell was good at absorbing blows from Curtley and Courtney... while there'll never be another Alan Knott, he's possibly the best option we've had since then.

      @stevemercer5769 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stevechapman2553 I think the dedicated keeper with a decent batting technique is the way to go, agreed on Foakes. Bairstow is worth his place as a batter alone, and if he’s not keeping he can bat higher, but TBH he’s most destructive and at his best in the middle order once the early new ball movement is gone. England have to solve the opener issue before the Ashes, I don’t think Crawely has the temperament for test cricket. Regardless of the Bazball revolution, you still have to earn the right early on, to play that way later on. Crawley is too flirty outside off stump.

Brook has become a superstar overnight. Joe Root has been Joe Root. Stokes is a brilliant leader, Foakes is an excellent keeper. Pope seems to be the answer to the number 3 problem, Duckett has been impressive, Bairstow still to come back. Amazing to think that before last summer Brook had a first class average of less than 30 , hasn’t done anything special in ODI or T20 yet but has taken to Test Cricket in an astonishing way.
    Good to see Root just do his thing rather than sell himself cheap, to me Bazball is just letting batters do their thing without fear of consequences.
    And love how England always chase wickets in the field no thoughts of the match position or defensive field placing , so refreshing.

    • @wunnell
      @wunnell ปีที่แล้ว

      Brook said that he made a few technical changes and he has obviously benefitted from those in spades. He was excellent in the Pakistan T20Is, as he has been in the PSL, but not great in the T20 WC, as he has been in the BBL. He's only played three ODIs and scored an 80. It's hard to see him not succeeding in all three formats, but he does still have something to prove against the white ball. His equilibrium in Test cricket isn't going to be averaging 100 striking at 100 but he can level off a lot and still be in the territory of the greats.
