    I'm on my 2nd Jaguar, the 1st an 03 S Type Base. Drove it to 157k trouble free well loved miles. It was a great car with the 4.2 V8. I sold it to buy my 2012 XF Supercharged V8 Portfolio V8. Again another exelent car. In 75k miles other than a new battery @ 6 years old. It's never had a issue. Keep them maintained with oil changes. Wash & waxed and detailed. They will always be in style. Plus, nothing beats a Jaaaaaaag!

    Loved the XF. It was a very classic car that could handle and had some real speed. I had two with V8s. I think for many, especially me, it was an introduction into the modern Jaguar family. Found that in the later years the updates in Jaguar took out what made the car so great - wood, leather and metal. Originally it just felt like you were in a modern English library. I loved taking the back-roads and have some American sedan try to keep up. As soon as there were turns, I would leave them behind. My last one I added stainless exhaust that got so much attention. Did not have that open header sound, but a very classic V8 with a subtle growl. I remember pulling up for a meeting and one lady who arrived just before me goes, "you have had some work done on your Jaguar?"

    2019 still loving my 2011-XF-5.0SC very much. Not great on gas but that not why i drive it. I drive it because its beautifully designed, fast and fun. Its had one battery change, a few rear tires and one window motor. Take care of them and they'll be around a long time. Abuse/neglect them and you'll pay... like any car.

      What is the build quality on these cars like? Like underneath the body and interior. So many cars these days are built to a budget but look at these jags and land rovers, the news ones just scream quality. And it's weird since being under Tata control, every thought that they would ruin jag and strangle the company of quality and inspiration but JLR are now doing better than they ever have done.

      ***** My dad has just taken delivery of an XF premium luxury 3 litre diesel with the parking pack, carbon flash paint and rich oak veneer trim I think its called. Astonishing car. That engine sounds like a petrol at idle it is so quiet. And the fit of the bonnet is very god as well ;) In fact the panel gaps around the car are the tightest on any car he has seen and he has been in the auto industry for 50 years. Beautifully built cars. You guys should be very proud.

Dark sapphire blue with ebony wood and light oyster windsor perforated leather seats and panoramic sunroof. Amazing car!!! No problems at all!! I went on a factory tour actually earlier today at castle product. The cars are literally all handmade, with robots only to move the parts and bond them together

    @bigpete347 SHAP is also designed to have a much higher throughput than Castle Bromwich. Personally, I'd like to see how this compares to the old Brown's Lane plant as far as production methods, personnel, efficiency, etc.

      firehawk400 My XJR was the last generation (X-308) XJ built at Browns Lane. The XJ was Sir Williams's favorite model and the final steel-bodied generation was three or four inches lower to the ground than today’s luxury sedans, Jaguar included. By 1999 Ford had spent billions upgrading not just the design, but also the quality standards of their suppliers, which was Jaguar's weak area back in the British Leyland days. In JD Power owner satisfaction surveys from the early 2000s, the XJ was the only Euro competitor Lexus had in the area of build quality. My ‘01 XJR has 156k miles on the clock and purrs like new. If figure it’s halfway through its life. I wish I could say the same!

    Mmmm. Why is it that after watching the video of the pristine BMW factory on TH-cam that the Jaguar factory looks like something from the 1980s with a grubby, cluttered, factory like British Leyland? Were the guys at 0:45 on their tea break? The panel gap at 2:14 looked very poor. And the final inspection at 5:00 was, frankly, shocking compared to what Audi and BMW do with a computer-driven test regime.

      Posting comments like this can help close a place down, then you 'wont' be delivering anything there. Bloody idiot. All car makers are the same. The time to worry is when issues are not spotted and leave the plant.

    • @Bladerunner4924764
      @Bladerunner4924764 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seems to me that if they're sitting there with bits of paper saying what the failure was then they're not being shipped out to the dealers to sell to unsuspecting customers. My guess is they go back to fix the problem and then once they pass the test, then they get shipped out. All assembly lines will produce parts or products that have failures in them, the goal is to spot them before they get shipped out so as not to have a claim put on them. If a manufacturer like Jaguar files too many claims against a subcontractor of parts, guess what happens? They shop around for another subcontractor and the first contractor may go out of business. It's a dog eat dog world in bushiness.

    • @banglaforceuk
      @banglaforceuk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In short, isn't it a good thing they picked up on it.
      If they didn't fix it on that basis, then fair enough to criticise like that.
      Let's not pretend all tests area perfect and we miss something

    The mediocre production quality of this . . . it's not even a documentary, just a series of unrelated video clips . . . should not carry over to viewer impressions of the Castle Bromwich plant. Instead of a well written narration to guide us through, we are subjected to random factory sounds. No mention is made of the cars' all-aluminum structure, with innovative bonding required to match that metal's notorious construction challenges. This video doesn't even have a beginning or an end! But it's not the only bad Jag video I've seen lately. A recent retrospective of the XJ's 50th anniversary event was just terrible by modern video standards. I think whoever is in charge of production of Jaguar's marketing communications videos is due for a long vacation. As in, permanent.

    When are you guys at Jaguar finally going to get it right with you body styling, I live in the U/S own a 1979 Jaguar xj6L with the most elegant styling ever produced by Jaguar, when I park at supermarkets I always have people taking pictures of my car, asking me if I would sell it, even had people willing to exchange there car for mine,
    the name of Jaguar brings back elegance in a car, not the junk you see today with the
    prancing cat on the bonnet I should have kept the list of people that have spoken to me about how they hate the styling of the Jaguars being produced today, not the two
    door coupes but the four door sedans, what has happened to Jaguar and there designers, do they look at other cars being produced and copy there designs with a few minor changes Jaguars are England's prestige just like the Rolls Royce, and Aston Martin, and Bentley, Morgan, come on Jaguar bring back England.

      Fortunately, no one is listening to your silly ideas. People look at ALL older cars because they are rare, not necessarily because they are beautiful. Times change and so do cars. Just not for you.

      If Jaguar management thought as you do, the brand would long ago have joined Rover, Humber, Hillman, Jensen, Austin, Triumph, MG, and quite a few others, in the trash heap that is the British auto industry. I’m an my fourth XJ and eagerly awaiting the revolutionary all-electric XJ that is going to utterly spoil Elon Musk's day. And yours too I suppose. One more thing: that “prancing cat on the bonnet” is known as the Leaper.

      Classic jags have their place but if jag did not modernise and refresh their design language for 21st century they would be bankrupt by now. I own one of those modern saloons (sedans) XF S 2012 model in black. I have had people come up and tell me it’s such a nice car. More unique design than all the German stuff. On top of that I am in my mid 30s so exactly the Market jag need to capture for future sales. Only owned the car for a year and I am a big-time jag fan now. The car has both a muscular look and also looks elegant and sophisticated. I just wish AWD was more ubiquitous in the UK

      @@ams0001 As you know from my reply to that old codger above, I'm with you on the desirability of Jaguar's new generation. Ian Callum has succeeded brilliantly in keeping Jaguars at the top of the heap in the sex appeal department, and that has always been an essential element of the Jaguar brand.
      In the 1990s when Ford owned Jaguar they pumped billions into the brand, eliminating all vestiges of poor reliability by insisting their suppliers set the industry standard. In the electrics department, for example, Jaguar was first to incorporate multiplex electronics and raise performance and reliability standards in that area to new heights. By the late 1990s only Lexus challenged Jaguar in the JD Power owner satisfaction surveys. But, Ford were not able to market Jaguar, especially in the essential US market. And so the brand continued to lose money, even though they were arguably the best Jaguars ever built.
      Ratan Tata, the genius who took that Indian family enterprise global and made them a world industrial power, went ahead with buying Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford due to one thing: He was shown the plans for the next-generation models, including the XF, and on the strength of their design he followed Ford in investing billions in a brand that hadn't made money in decades. He was aware the Jaguar mystique had survived, and that the new generation of British designers and engineers were up to the challenge of making Jaguar 100 percent competitive with the Germans. And by god they did it. Sexier by far than the overwrought German designs, and in their handling and overall driving experience still unmatched as "driver's cars", the new team pulled off the nearly-impossible. The XF is an example of how the British approach to luxury cars is still, to many, considered the most refined in the world.
      In another visionary move, Jaguar invested four years of intensive engineering effort to produce the all-electric I-PACE, which is superior to Tesla's Model X in several critical areas. Jaguar leapfrogged Tesla with its innovative flat-stacked battery, capable of 80 percent recharge in only 40 minutes. And it's the sexiest crossover on the market. It will almost certainly become Jaguar's best-selling model and introduce a new generation of Americans your age to the brand in the most positive way.
      Next-generation sedans like the upcoming XJ (spectacular, if you've seen the photos) will offer all-electric variants that retain the brand's "grace, pace, and space" while paving the way for an all-electric future. Though I love my XJR's supercharged quad-cam V8, I realize it has no place in the automobile of tomorrow. And I am so elated Jaguar has elected to make a full commitment to electric. I think things are going to work out just fine for my favorite car since my Dad took me out in his early-60s Mark II. I still haven't come down from that experience.
      I wish you many happy miles in your XF!
