- Beyblade’s Dark Tsubasa Arc Was Peak

Ladies with gentlehands, today we are going to be talking about the light skin of Beyblade aka the man, the myth, the legend, Tsubasa Otori. Not only a fan favorite amongst metal fight fans but personally I believe Tsubasa to have probably the best character arc within the entire series. And I may be exaggerating when I say this but, I personally think no other character got better than Tsubasa during Masters, and today I’m gonna do my best to try and elaborate. Tsubasa was first introduced around halfway through Metal Fusion, where he seemed like he was just going to be a one hit wonder and just be a victim to Gingkas special move. But we find out during their fight that Tsubasa was mainly holding back and wanted to test the waters, leading into him breaking into the dark nebula, running a gauntlet on the fodder guys, and even tied with Yu who by this point was stronger than both Gingka and Kyoya. So we already knew bro was building up to be a significant threat. Him and Yu would go on some missions together which gives us some fun scenes between the two since they’re so different from one another, and it’s eventually revealed that Tsubasa is a mole for the wbba, and Tsubasa joined dark nebula in order to take it out from the inside, which ALMOST works. He manages to defeat Dark Nebulas number 2 and even forces Ryuga himself to step down and fight him. However due to Tsubasa's arrogance and not knowing how L Drago works, he’d lose the fight pretty badly and would even force Phoenix to come down and save bro. After this we see Tsubasa intercept Gingka once again, questioning how his bond makes him so powerful? Leading into Phoenix then dropping down to take on Gingka yet again but that’s when Tsubasa decides to fight him and ends up losing kinda badly. As we know this leads into Gingka overcoming Phoenix which I do believe is important to note for Tsubasa. Remember, the first time Phoenix beat Gingka, Gingka by that point didn’t realize what made him so strong. He got frustrated against Ryuga and managed to fix his broken spirit, and just came out a little short against Yu. But he never really experienced a TRUE loss like he did with Phoenix where he went on to find where his strength comes from, and rise up stronger than ever before. This is important to note since Tsubasa goes through something a little similar but it’s something that lasts way longer than the Phoenix stuff. When battle bladers begin we see Tsubasa understanding what makes Gingka so strong, but he doesn’t really have a source of strength to pull from like he does. Gingka Hagane, a Beyblader from the Beyblading residence, Koma Village, travels the country in search of strong Bladers. Along the way he meets Kenta Yumiya a strong but timid Beyblader and Madoka Amano, a Bey Mechanic. They are joined by Benkei Hanawa and Kyoya Tategami who start out as enemies but put aside their differences and develop friendly rivalries. Eventually it is revealed that he is searching for the forbidden Bey, Lightning L-Drago 100HF after it was stolen by Ryuga and Doji of the Dark Nebula, a secret organization with dark plans. They plan to use L-Drago to take over the world. Beyblade: Metal Masters. Gingka and his friends meet a new Beyblader named Masamune Kadoya and his Bey, Ray Striker D125CS. Masamune is a new Blader who joins Gingka's group and will stop at nothing to defeat him. Gingka joins the Beyblade World Championships Tournament, with team Japan, Team Gan Gan Galaxy. A Tournament where representatives from a country around the world compete to become the best Bladers. With Gingka and Masamune picked as the representatives of Japan they won't hold anything back to win. They will give their all! Beyblade: Metal Fury. In the Cosmos, an unusual event has occurred. Taking a break from their latest triumph over Faust and the Spiral Core, Gingka and Co. find themselves saving a boy named Yuki Mizusawa from a mysterious youth named Johannes. Although Yuki is a boy genius and an astronomer, he is a Blader who owns Mercury Anubius 85XF. Yuki says that he has come to tell Gingka and his friends about the voice of the Star Fragment. He witnessed the Star Fragment (a meteor) fall from the sky one day. That single light dwells within Anubius and he says that he heard the voice of the Star Fragment that evening. A great evil is trying to revive the “Black Sun” and "Nemesis", the god of destruction, by using the unknown power of the Star Fragment to destroy the world. Gingka and his friends must fight again, just as soon as they get the hang of their new 4D System Beys!

Tsubasa's arc in Metal Masters was definitely one of the best character arcs in the series!
Also, shout out to Yu for being such a W team-mate for Tsubasa. Them going from Rivals in Fusion to basically being brothers in Masters in some of the most wholesome stuff in the saga.

for me, Tsubasa one shotted Sophie and Whales is one of craziest moments, overcoming the dark power and gaining a new special move called Shining Tornado Buster was awesome, I liked how it was used during the fight with Argo.
My Favorite Arc FR….I’m honestly so happy that that the Beyblade Metal saga/anime is finally getting the attention and videos it deserves for so long now (same for the plastic gen)

Tsubasa and Yu were always my favorite characters and I remember crying because I couldn't watch him conquering the dark power since I had School.

I wish there was a season between season two and season three with him dealing with post-traumatic stress following his dark side, not a 51 episode season, but an entire season in general
I think when Tsubasa understood that he wouldn't be a legendary blader he stopped trying to be better and that's where Masamune Dashian and Yu got on a similar level (maybe even surpassed him)
i know this is just a campy toy shounen from the mid 00s, but genuinely thank you for making this video. this arc has stayed in my mind for 14 years and changed my brain chemistry on such a level that i actually became a horror creator because of it, one that specializes in taking the latent horror potential of things like this and realizing them. this arc had every possibility to be absolutely terrifying, even more so than it was when i was 8. now at 22, i look back on this show and how much it changed me. heck, even down to tsubasa's design, i don't think i would have had the first inklings that i might not be completely cisgender if it weren't for how androgynous he was. this show, this arc, and this character mean the world to me, and i want to be able to share that in whatever way i can. sorry for oversharing in a youtube comment, but it's folks like you that keep the memory of this show alive and make it still worth talking about.
Tsubasa and Yu were my favorite characters cuz their interactions remind me of an older brother and a younger brother annoying each other. Also you can't make fun of Tsubasa for struggling against Kenta since Ginga and Ryuga were also having a hard time fighting him.

dude wtf are the odds i was actually just looking up dark tsubasa amv's from over a decade ago and had no idea you were gonna upload a dark tsubasa video today.
Kinda wished Tsubasa kept a little bit of the dark power.
Even if he didn’t keep the dark power it would have been cool if tsubasa got an amazing bet evolution that put him on the same level as gingka and kyoya like how ryuga got a bey evolution.
@@bornstar481 It's worth noting that Beyblades without a star fragment don't normally evolve. Meteo L-Drago came from the original star fragment and all beys in Metal Fury evolved because of the star fragment. The only true outliner is Blitz Striker, but that's because it got manually upgraded rather than magically evolving on its own.
And I also think it's great Tsubasa didn't keep the dark power as he never needed it and it was never considered a good thing. It had to be embraced to be overcome, but exploiting it in general is a bad idea as it's just pure manifestation of human's flaws.
I'm loving these videos and thumbnails lol. Tsubasa is my third favorite character in the series just below Kyoya and Ryuga

That would be so cool. But problem is Earth Eagle is such a good bey it's hard to come up with something better. And Metal Masters was focused on hyping Gravity Destroyer, Hades Kerbecs & Twisted Tempo. But I think in Metal Fury, Kries Cygnus should've just been an Eagle evolution. But they gave it to a random henchmen.
A good idea i though of was giving eagle a sorta conquered darkness bey which was the twisted wheel, gravity destroyers spin track and rubber defense flat which made it a NASTY defense bey, a good evolved avatar would prob be something like the thunder bird sorta look since he had the dark power which is characteristic with lightning
Dark Tsubasa arc changed my life fr lol. It introduced me to the concept of "Shadow Work"
I used to watch Masters as a kid and I love Tsubasa's arc too.
The way I understand it is that true strenght is accepting that we're all weak sometimes.
The dark power prays on it's victim's weakness, when Tsubasa resents it the most that's when it takes most control of him.
But when he accepts that everyone has darkness within their heart, that's when he becomes strong again.
And Tsubasa's friends being his strenght, that can mean that you don't have to deal with everything on your own and accepting support is ok.
It would've been super cool if mid-battle during the battle against Excalibur, he tried to beat the dark power, and used Shining Tornado Buster, giving everyone hope. But then, it would all come crashing down after Excalibur blocked the attack and Tsubasa would be fully under the control of the Dark Power, with a dark move he unleashes mid-battle, destroying the stadium and leaving Sophie, Wales, and Yu unconscious, and then vanishing.
Tsubasa should've gotten the buff from overcoming the dark power and a buff from Metal Fury as eagle would've been sick, also bro should've worn a dark and bruny trench coat to show he had control of the power

Fun fact if you pay attention, some of dark tsubasa’s lines from the show have different meanings even though he’s saying the same thing examples, “ do it right now” or “ do it, right now, one when he told Julian to use reverse rotation hints do it right and the other telling eagle to use all of the dark power when fighting bull and damora

In his fight with Ryuga, he had pinned l drago dowm but Ryuga tricked him into thinking that L Drago is done
This made Tsubasa feel like ok to connect with l drago in a straight attack which ended up as we all know
Tsubasa's main strength is his strategic mind and quick thinking in the battle to trap his enemy
To me it feels like he won against ryuga but the power of "plot" was too much

Especially since Kenta was traveling with Ryuga who's been doing the same grueling training he was doing of course Tsubasa gets pressed traveling and training with Ryuga allowed Kenta to grow at an alarming rate compared to when he was training by himself or with Gingka and Benkei

@ are you dumb on purpose? Kenta pre star fragment damaged Ldrago's face bolt. Literally nobody could do that. Post fragment, Kenta was boxing Nemesis on his own. Please think next time.
@ that is simply the plot armor of the show. Ryuga underestimated him completely and when a new character/bey that is introduced it is automatically supremely powerful. For example Chris’ phantom Orion special move when he first awakened made an explosion bigger than any move we have ever seen, they made it look like Chris was the strongest. Anyone can box with nemesis, but no one can do it for long. we saw Kenta get beaten up brutally later. No shot you actually believe he’s top 5 strongest. If the 10 legendary bladers along with nemesis had a battle Royale, Kenta is not going to be in the final 5

@@kubat4925 I think it won’t be as bad as that lol, many overlook it because of more insane things happening in the show, but Tsubasa’s quite hardy both mentally and physically, I think he can handle it well without dropping onto his knees and faint for, like, the 4th time in the show
@@Griffinous Tsubasa is strong but you forget that Damian can literally put you inside hell. Both Kyoya and Gingka struggled and both of them went through crazy power growth. Kyoya was way stronger when GanGanGalaxy met Wild Fang and Kyoya would get stronger from there. Kyoya outgrew Tsubasa and Gingka barely made it. I'm afraid Tsubasa no longer measures up to Kyoya so while Tsubasa can give Damian a heck of a fight, ultimately he's a toast or barely standing.
