    Boring? Maybe just a little, but EXTREMELY helpful to me! Sometimes, part of "paying your dues" means suffering through the boring stuff so you don't make a mistake somewhere down the line. As a complete neophyte to the RC airplane thing, I appreciate you sharing your experience with me. You earned a LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!

      @@TheRcSaylors my battery has the dual battery so it has the 2 harnesses. But my truck (arrma granite 4x4) only uses the main connector and not the smaller one I use on the balancer. So when I'm charging is it still safe to plug both in? Or am I misunderstanding it all completely? lol thank you for your help, time, and response!

    Wow brother you are awesome! My 6 year old son and I we're just starting off and I seen this charger recommended in one of Kevin Talbot's videos. This fella is balls to the wall RC guy for sure. This isn't the first RC stuff I've ever messed with but as far as chargers this is the only one I've ever had that wasn't just the usb type that plugged into a laptop or computer usb. So thank you very much for showing step by step instructions on how to set this puppy up, because the instructions they give you in the box had me totally lost for sure. It was in english but it might as well have been Chinese! LoL

    This hobby is EXPENSIVE! Man, I’m trying to spend it on the electronics and now I gotta gets good hobby grade charger! I want a SUPER easy charger under $80. It has to be simple though, and it has to plug into the wall, I’ve seen the Isdt smart chargers, I want them, but they are portable and don’t plug into the wall.

    My dear friends, I have NEVER once, found any of your videos "boring!" I have been in the hobby for 15+ years, now and I always learn something new from your videos! It's OK to say that if you are a seasoned hobbiest, that some of the content will be "repetitive" but, trust me, The RC Saylors are NEVER BORING! I learned a few things today and was reminded about others. Nate, you are a very good and patient teacher! Abby, you too are great when you excentuate or add something to the subject. And, thank you both for including shots of Popeye, which adds to the cute & fun factor of the video! Can't wait for the next one! ;-) JP

    Great video guys. However, I think it's wise to inform your "newbie" chargelettes that it is imperative to let your batteries cool down before charging them. As most of you know, the batteries heat up during discharge and you should always wait until they have had a considerable amount of time to cool down prior to charging.

    EDITED: After seeing your follow up video I admit that I was wrong on the point of your tester showing one of the cells was overcharged. Obviously the accuracy of a cheap tester isn't going to be great but I had assumed it was using just one voltage measuring circuit and reading each cell in turn on that one circuit, so a significant difference in cell voltages would be valid regardless if the actual measured voltages were both a bit low or high. However I still maintain you should always balance charge Li-Po batteries regardless of how balanced you think they are prior to charging. Doing so isn't any more of a hardship and you are less likely to damage a cell.

    • @scottfirman
      @scottfirman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Roger Wilco It does take longer to balance charge because most chargers discharge the two higher batterys and then bring them all up together. Its easier if you can isolate that one low cell and charge it on its own by making a single cell charging lead. Once it brings that one cell up even with the others, you shouldnt have to keep balance charging. If you do, then you have a battery with a bad cell.

    Nice Job Sailors! Good info for beginners . Just to add when your done playing, storage charge all your batteries for the most life out of them . I always charge to 3.85volts per cell. So a 2 cell to 7.7volts a 3 cell to 11.5volts and so on. Batteries last way longer if you do this when done playing. The older cheaper connector is the red t style. the better, safer, newer ,connector is the xt-60 connector and is what 95% of all my stuff uses . I have a T adaptor for the couple of batteries that still use that. Bruce is in New Zealand just fwiw and is a expert on the electronics and an engineer if you really want to learn the tech . Happy RC ing:)

    Charging is essential. However, discharging to storage voltage is the way to extend the life and performance of a cell.
    So, PLEASE discuss how to get 3.8volt storage voltage on a single cell, WITHOUT standing over a charger to monitor it.
    Are there commercial devices that put 1s (single) cells at 3.8 volts.

    Great vid kids but me being me I would suggest two things.
    One is the easiest way to remember cell count is just one wire is always ground and the rest are the cell count. I know you said the same thing, just the long way around and may confuse some.
    Two is you didn't stress enough to NOT leave a battery charged more than a couple days. When I was a noob not only did I ruin a couple of very expensive Yuneec batteries but I ruined two more replacement batteries because I didn't know better. (I kept thinking I was getting bad batteries) That was a $400 rookie mistake.
    And yes I watched a couple videos on charging batteries but no one stressed the importance of the storage of them.

    Thanks for the video. All the videos I've checked on lipo charging have been 1-2 years old, so it's good to have a recent video on this. I'm new at this hobby so I only have a basic charger for my 2S batteries. I'm thinking on getting a better charger once I get more into the hobby and start getting more toys to play :-). Unfortunately Venom charges seems to only be sold in the US and not in Europe. One question: I noticed you selected "Charge" mode and not "Balance" mode when charging. I thought you need to select "Balance" mode when charging Lipos to make sure all cells are charged balanced.

      @@raven2wolfbane6045 The charging speed depends on how many amps you charge your battery at. Different batteries have different C ratings that detirmins the maximum charging amps. If you are a searious RC person, you should get a Venom charger that has up to 7 amp maximum charge rate and can charge from 1S to 6S batteries as fast as possible. It has several charge options, including standard and fast charge settings. You might look at getting an ImaX B6AC dual power charger. It is cheaper but maxes out at only 5 amps. It will also charge from 1S to 6S batteries. Both chargers do a good job at balance charging and storage charging and battery discharging. both chargers will handle a variety of lithium battery types, not just LiPo.

    Why does it say 2S (two cells) when cell is with a C, not an S ?

    • @SpeccyMan
      @SpeccyMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the S doesn't actually mean "cell" it means "series" as in how the cells are connected together. Two 3.7V cells connected in series gives you the 7.4V.

Cause I've done a lot of watching and seen many videos of people with bad batteries weather it puffing or not charging anymore and so on and so on. So what is your method I would love to know I like to take care of my things and make them last awhile. I just bought a senton 3s with 3s 7200 mah 50c. Also have a hubson h501s-s with the stock 2700mah 10c. I would like to make sure I do things right and get the most of my batteries that can. Thank you and keep the videos coming. Lots of negative reviews 10% of customers say the second port of the charger not working and only 60% liked the charger? Think I will pass! Thanks for educating me on the batteries cells vs the numbers of wirers - one. Good Stuff guys.

      John, most of the time people do not take the time to leave positive reviews if they like something. Do you go to McDonald's and leave positive feedback every time you don't hate your sandwich? Same applies here with the charger sadly. I know tons of people that love this charger ;) Thanks for tuning in :)

    Very helpful video guys, thanks! Now I have a quad you liked, the JJRC H8D. It's a 7.4v 2 cell but only has 2 wires (no balance port). My charger has died and discharged the batteries to basically nothing. I checked the voltage output on the JJRC charger and it read .155v Now, i'm not sure if the three are dead or will take a charge IF I can find the correct charger. I'm still looking but have not found the charger for the H8D available online

    If I only have four 2S batteries and I'm looking for a budget but reliable charger, would you recommend the Venom 2-4cell AC/DC lipo charger? It's on Amazon right now for $40 and it has good reviews, what do you think? Please it would help a lot (:

    What's the best way to store LiPo battery light should I like to keep my stuff fully charged and ready to go but I heard that's bad that I shouldn't keep them fully charged so I can go out on in a moment's notice don't always no when I'm going to have a nice day try to have everything ready to go

      Actually balance charging isnt recommended for every charge. It reduces battery life. Check out Venoms lipo video

    Its the singles I still struggle with. I bought one of those multi panel chargers. Its math to figure each battery, then total up the amount of total juice, then set the charger so as to not fry the batterys. You can buy a multibattery charger that uses D size batterys. All my UMX planes use single cell batterys. I need to charge many batterys at one time.

      The BoldClash P01 charger is a nice option for single cell batteries. It costs between $20-27 and can charge 6 batteries at a time, and is plug and play. You will need a 9-15v power supply, with a 2.5mm/5.5mm tip, to power it.

    I am new and I bought a VENOM 25C 2S 5000MAH 7.4V GRAPHENE LIPO. My battery charger I bought is a
    EcoPower "Electron 44 AC" LiHV/LiPo/LiFe Battery Charger (2-4S/4A/50W). My question is on this charger it only has a setting at highest 4A or 4amps. Will this not work since it does not have a 5amp charge rate which I think is the one for this battery?

    • @TheRcSaylors
      @TheRcSaylors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question! You don't really need to do the balance charge setting unless your cells are off. Probably something I will try to talk about a little more in depth in a future video but if your cells are already balanced, a simple charge will do :)
