Hey Lindsay, ty! I have a Christmas Party tonight I am attending and the free food and alcohol will be flowing.. I am eating some fatty meat before I go!
I understand the cravings. Hang in there! I haven't had any added carbs for 3-4 months and I was having some cravings today. I was alone and my cravings were all mental/emotional. Thankfully they passed fairly quickly. I'm even more thankful there is nothing available in my home to satisfy those cravings.
Even though I don't wish it on anyone, it does help to know that I am not the only one. It does make it much easier when there is not any junk around as well!
When the cravings are intense, eat a small portion of fruit. A couple of strawberries. A few slices of apple. Fruit is not just sugar and carbs but also nutrition. Usually, strong cravings for things is your bodies way of sending the signal that you're lacking something. I recommend 1-2 strawberries as they're high in vit c, lower carb, small and easy to eat. I've tried every way of eating out there, including carnivore. What worked for me was my own way of eating. My best advice, after going through all this myself already is that If something is not working for you, keep trying different things until you get there. Don't be afraid of what people think or of going against the grain. Too many people get stuck in groupthink. Vegan, carnivore cultlike groups. Never forget this is your journey to health and well-being. We are each on our own journey to finding our way.
Flavored seltzer water has helped me get through those cravings...3 months in for me...yi heard kelly hogan say her only goal everyday is to stay carnivore. That has helped me😊 Praying you can make it through!!
Sparkling water has been a God send for me, as it fills the void of carbs and alcohol I used to consume. I also do the "say it's poison " thing and it really does work.
I hear you and I’m right there with you. I think it’s important that people know that your cravings don’t always go away when on carnivore. I can tell the difference between real hunger and cravings but it doesn’t make the sugar cravings easier to overcome. Hang in there!!
How about LMNT that usually helps me to get past a craving… but if I’m really in a bad way I’ll do some whipped cream with cinnamon but I know not everyone does dairy.
@@tzszychulski I have actually never tried LMNT. I do have some electrolytes that I put in my water though called Fasting Electrolytes. No flavor to them though.
sounds like you need some carnivore snack for those sweet attacks...look up brown butter bites or bacon crack or my go to is some tasty bacon with some cream cheese spread on it. over time it does get easier you just need something safe to nibble on for those hard times.
My unprofessional opinion just to get you through this difficult holiday season. I would eat some low carb very dark chocolate or cream cheese with a little monk sweetener w/ whipped heavy cream. Just to get you through this without caving in during the holiday season. Don’t aim for perfection aim for long term success. I’ll take the bullet from the Carnivore Community to give you my 2 cents. I empathize. After a year on carnivore I still find myself hanging around the fridge and the pantry looking for a snack some evenings. After many decades of eating to relieve my stress, this is the one habit I've really struggled to break. I don't personally want to eat something sweet. I just want to eat something. It's not a regular occurrence, but it is a reminder of how addicted to sugar I have been for such a long time. Thank you for sharing. Stick to your guns. 😊

I truly understand! Due to health issues I have had to eat mostly fruit and some veg, and it's TOUGH! I've been at it for 2 months, and will likely have to do it for some time. Ironically I've craved a rib-eye! I fell off the wagon recently and ate a load of the things you mention, but am now getting back on track. I just see it as something that may happen once in a while. Any strict diet is unbelievably difficult psychologically! Keep going, and don't be too harsh on yourself if you faulter. We're only human!
@@ketovorekandi Thank you! For the advice as well. That is exactly what I am trying to do at the moment, not be too hard on myself or let things spiral. It's not easy, as we know!
I am back on carnivore from a stint on a carb rich diet. I was actually feeling healthy but when carbs are involved I cant control my hunger. I ate a whole box of egg rolls I purchased in one sitting as example. Was supposed to last me a week. Anyway, I wanna say that carnivore is in itself an awful diet for sustainability. What I do is this. 3 meals a day and after each meal I eat a piece of fruit. Think like desert and why we eat desert. Its nice to have something sweet after a savory meal BUT also it fixes the body IMO. I think a bit of sugar 3 times a day is great for mood and health. What I also do is if I want something with a bit more enjoyment I take a pear and dice it up real small and throw a scoop splenda sweetener and some lemon juice and water and it hits the spot for me. It is a bit sweeter than a normal pear giving that sweet tooth what it craves while keeping the same carbs as before. Just keep the carbs below 50 IMO. Like Paul Saladino eating 300gms carbs a day. I tried it and omg THE INSTANT STARCH CRAVINGS AND BOX OF PASTA SCREAMING AT ME FROM PANTRY. With just a sweet after each meat meal I get a little sweet and serotonin mood boost but stay in fat burning.
I do have a hard time controlling my hunger when carbs are involved as well. When I did eat fruit, it was the low carb berry options. I am not ready to go back to that now but if I do eat fruit again, I will stick to lower carb options for sure.
Cravings get easier to deal with over time. The best way to logically handle them is to eat a bunch of meats until stuffed and then have something you crave. This will make it digest in a different way, plus give you double benefits of happiness with controlling your amounts. But as you mentioned if you ate what you craves prior to eating meats and off the rails adventure would be hard to handle. This is why omad life works well for me. I don't crave anything until getting home and eating dinner first 🥇😊. Sometimes I'll cave and sometimes I don't.😂
Thanks, John! My cravings have definitely decreased and gotten easier to handle, but that day was awful. Then to top if off, I was stuck waiting for my hubby and had nothing to eat.
Look at it like this - A day of eating junk won’t kill you nor ruin progress. Rome takes along time to build and a long time to destroy once it’s built. Just have a cake. Take it from someone coming from years of eating very disciplined daily. Have that sweet it’s ok. Just don’t make it a habit! Enjoy the holidays and merry Christmas!
With Keto/Carnivore it does not work the same. The point of the diet is to get into Ketosis and get your body in fat burning mode. With this diet, 1 slice of cake will unravel all your progress and you will need to start over to get your body into Ketosis. There is very little room for "cheat days" with this one.
