- We’d only ever popped into Bridgnorth for a quick visit whilst on the Severn Valley Railway and Heather wanted a good look around so we found a great rally with Staffs DA on a local caravan site, the town was lovely and the weather played ball too! Plus we managed a couple of hours watching the world go by on the railway station so a bit of a bonus there….
Hi We're Rick, Heather & our dog Poppy and we travel the U.K in our S&L Apollo camper van “Athena”
We film the places we visit as our own diary, these videos are meant as a little memento for us but we're happy to share them with you if you want to watch.
We're just an ordinary couple in our 50's filming our adventures with basic equipment so don't expect loads of flash camera action and super editing with great music.
We also film videos of work we have done on our van as well as van reviews for our reference of the next van we might buy. Occasionally there are hints & tips videos too. We do basic site and area reviews including if they’re dog friendly but they’re a guide only based on our opinions which may or may not help you make an informed decision on if you’d like the place.
We do a mix of off grid camping, pub stopovers plus real campsites too, hopefully something for everyone to enjoy!
Please leave us a comment on the videos, we love reading them and reply to each one.
We try to upload once a week so please consider subscribing to see our travels, it’s free and will really help us.
Thanks for watching!
The DA rallies seem to be excellent value you can’t really beat that with the location etc. We have never been to Bridgnorth but it looks like a good place to visit especially if you like trains 😂 good to see Poppy supervising the cooking and the battery issues were sorted. Safe travels and best wishes H&M.
Thanks both, we do more rallies than anything to be honest, we’re not much for campsites unless it’s winter but don’t like the “risk/cheek” of “wildcamping” so it sits better with us paying a reduced fee for a basic but legal camp. We don’t need hook up so it suits us, we’re now doing a fair few with the Motorcaravanners Club as well as our DA ones too, we’d rather spend the money on a meal/beers than pay £40+ a night to be on a site.
Bridgnorth is one of my favourite places. I was there for a day out last Monday with my parents and daughter. The dates you mentioned are Tudor time. Thank you for advice on breakdown cover. I think the burger inspector did a brilliant job. Thank you as always for making me smile. Take care Gill
Thanks Gill we really enjoyed it there can see why you like it 😊 we’ll definitely go back there and yes burger inspector was in her element 🤣
So how do you tag onto a different area DA? Now I see why people go to Bridgenorth. Nice. Poppy starring again . Bless her. Round cheese , wow what an idea 😋.
Your DA is only dictated by your postcode, we used to be Staffs before we moved now we’re Derbyshire, makes no difference, Heather uses the out and about app and just finds any she likes, the only thing that occasionally happens is the hosting DA puts the meet out to their own group 1st and it’s sometimes limited space for “outsiders”
We love the black and white towns and villages, they started in medieval period although we think of them as Tudor (1485-1603). Hoping to do the black and white trail at some point. Bridgnorth looks lovely, if only we found the hills as easy as our four legged friends. We recently rewatched Hamish Macbeth too. I’ve listened to all the books on audiobook, they’re great albeit very different from the tv series
Thanks for confirming about the buildings, yes Hamish is madly different I believe but we like it, definitely need to return to Plockton! Bridgnorth is such a great find but yeah those hills!
Thanks for sharing I love the town with its beautiful building and pubs which look gorgeous with the flowers. Don’t think I would like the hills though but the cliff railway would help 😂😂😍
Yeah it was a beautiful weekend and the weather played ball! We’ll be back i think 👍
Loved the video, especially the hanging out at the van, tea, (??) beer, burgers etc. Hubby and I love seeing how others cook etc in their vans
It was a great weekend and yes we have our “tea” at dinner time…. You have your dinner at lunchtime 🤣 thanks for watching and commenting 👍
£12 bargain. Interesting re the re call, not had anything on our 2023 CV. Don't get me started on breakdown cover, we had a wheel sensor go down on Mrs K's Audi and rather than pay £30 at the garage to tell me which one she called the RAC and had to fight to get them out even with a brake warning on the dash. RAC guy was great and once I knew which one to change it was a quick fix. Cheers K.
Maybe yours isn’t on a recall if it’s not the dash with the 10 inch screen? Good work on using the RAC to your benefit 👍 gotta get the money back somehow 🤣
Good tip on the breakdown. Fiat assistance isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. We were recovered recently with on going auto gearbox issues. We have a 2024 ELDDIS cv40 and were told our policy only covered recovery to a destination of our choice of 30 miles. Outside of this they will take the van where they wish not where you want it taken. A lot of Fiat professional dealers are not on Fiat assists list of dealerships as they don’t have premises big enough to take the larger Motorhomes. I fought tooth and nail to get it to my local dealership 65 miles away and in the end they agreed providing i picked it up after it had been repaired.
Interesting thanks, yeah it’s a bit of a minefield really…. Hopefully we’ll not need it and hopefully your van is ok now.
I think that was one of your most jolly vlogs! Enjoyed the look about Bridgend and thanks for sharing your Fiat/battery experience- just waiting for it to happen to ours now😳. Cheers R and H🙂
Definitely odd these new vehicles they worry me! Hopefully all ok though, it was a great weekend and a lovely town. Thanks for watching 😊
Looks like there is one pub to three houses there.
Somewhere we haven’t been. Pretty place
Strange about the battery - nightmare about the cover. 🤦🏻♂️. Flippin ECU and electrics are a mystery these days
Have a good week Rick and Heather.
Definitely a fair amount of establishments to try 🍻 modern vehicles scare me but hopefully we’re ok now…. 🙏
Looks fab, thanks for sharing 😍
It was brilliant thanks 🙏 for watching 😊
Great vlog guys, never been to Bridgenorth but looks very nice. Cadac Rick did well with those burgers 🍔 😉👍🏻💙🚐 Trev n Sue
Thanks both I’m not sure Joe needs to worry yet 🤣 nice to cook outside sometimes tho 👍
We've been there, great Wetherspoons too but gorgeous little town
X
No dogs in ‘spoons which is ironic if you’ve ever seen a Friday night there 🤣 but yeah great little place to visit xx
@@RickandHeather 🤣🤣
Loved the Class 52, much better than those kettles 👍
Definitely better however I’m not a huge fan of the Westerns but a nice couple of hours watching 👍
I like history but dates escape me so I can't help you on that score. That cadac looked just about the right size - does it use much gas?
It’s not bad on gas at all it uses those disposable ones, the only issue is as they get to around 3/4 empty the pressure drops and it’s easier to fit a new one. They’re only about £6 for 4 so not bad. 👍
What a beautiful little town. Glad you got your motor home sorted out. Have a great week ahead, my friends 👍😊💕🤗
Yeah we loved it, thanks for watching. The van seems ok now 🙏
Hot! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m a real English person not a pretend French man 🤣
