    You missed one very important feature: The 90D offers completely silent shooting! (You need to be in live-view and set it to electronic shutter).

      I wish they could make it silent like my 5D mark III silent shutter that doesant have to be in live mode. But I assume alot of that has to do with how thick the housing is around the camera itself. I love my 90D. But miss the silent shutter.

    Grea video. I love the 90D, had it for a month now, but i must say that i am disappointed that it only records video in mp4 and the data rate in 1080p is significantly lower than the 80D and 70D. This is understandable for 100/120 FPS video but I wish they gave us the ALL-I and MOV options for the 25FPS in 1080p. Right now i use my 80D for interviews and things of that nature where i'd like that detail and the 90D is for BRoll. As a stills camera it IS A BEAST. Great camera, the mp4 is my only issue.

      Changing the minimum focus distance of a lens is only possible if you move the lens away from the sensor (think extension tubes),however this will affect other factors, such as magnification and so on. Not sure what lead to this idea that the camera could make a difference.

    • @cooloox
      @cooloox 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Reuel T You literally just made that up. The 90D, when looking through the OVF, still uses a dedicated phase detection sensor which is separate to the image sensor. That's why the camera still includes the micro AF adjustments feature. Shooting in liveview usee a completely separate AF system where it focuses directly onto the image sensor where the AF points reside (DPAF). Either way, minimum focusing distance remains unchanged.
      How close a lens can focus is a property of the lens itself and has nothing to do with the AF system.

    In the small sensor you need expensive glass to have good cuality photos?

    • @SebastianDavidPB
      @SebastianDavidPB 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! But here's the deal breaker, even those expensive glass will probably need calibration to work properly, OVF becomes useless otherwise - soft focus issues at full rez, dual pixel focus only available in live view that gives better results (even the 80D has the same focusing issues this has). Noise looks funky and mushy if you are used to film grain (the old days, or old digital dslrs). If you are not selling the photos at full rez, and want a do it all camera this might be it, otherwise save your money.

      That's entirely up to you. If you think it's a big deal, then it is a big deal. For me it doesn’t matter, but then I'm not a wedding photographer. Card failure is very rare, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. It never happened to me, but I'm told that in most cases the defect card just stops working, but you can still recover the images with software from the manufacturer. So you simply take the bad card out of the camera and insert a new one, and you should be good. But of course I cannot guarantee that it'll always be possible to recover the images. By the way, cameras can go wrong for many other reasons, so it's super important that you bring spares of everything! Extra cameras, flashes, lenses, memory cards, batteries, you name it.

Both the lenses and the camera had latest firmware. Sigma technical support told me there are certain oddities with the way Canon set up the camera. (He did not go into technical details.) 2:58 I believe he misspoke. The size of photo sites determines low light ability, not if the camera is mirrorless or not.

      have you looked at the Sigma 18-35 mm f1.8 , I just grabbed one and it's awesome. May need to do some lens calibration to get it perfect (thats just one time)

      the sigma 18-35 might be a bit expensive for you, a sigma 17-50mm f2.8 would work very well

    I was with you until that
    last part about renting before you buy. Even with a 15% , the cost of a rental (and don’t forget shipping both ways and insurance) is a significant fraction of the cost of a 90D and a kit lens. Also, if the renter is a new shooter, the. the rental period will likely be too short for him/her to really learn to use and evaluate a camera. So, renting is a poor way to arrive at a buying decision, in my opinion. Better ways are to real a lot of reviews and see what kind of images others are able to make, any may use google or flickr to find posted images made with the 90D. And, for a new user, buying a good book that comes with hours of video lessons can be a big help. But renting this camera is simply not a wise financial choice.

      I agree with you to some extent. If you are a new photographer then I do agree that renting a camera might not help because you need to understand cameras in the first place to even know what you’re looking at. However, look at the majority of the content on TH-cam and you will see that most of the content as people praising cameras and not giving any real critical opinion to their viewers. There is truth in this act that just about all cameras from reputable manufacturers that are coming out are pretty great but it might not necessarily be the best fit for each person. While renting first is an expense that may just confirm that you purchased the Camry you just rented, some people are a bit more risk averse. On the flipside, if the camera you have is only a couple years old, renting one to try may confirm the fact that you can wait another year or two to make a purchase. I appreciate you taking your time to comment and share your opinion.

    11th thing: Canon 90D has a 2 second delay in image preview. You capture a picture and then you have to wait for 2 seconds before it shows to the LCD.

      It has many faults, let that be the last. 20 photo burst in raw until the buffer fills up lol same old Canon problems. But the most frustrating thing is the focus. I mean Jesus Christo by now I was expecting canon to fix that 2004 problem, but no, it's still dependent on extreme high contrast. It's so bad that face priority has to be turned on to nail the focus on the face of a portrait. And many many more faults, just unacceptable for a camera like this.

    Minimum focusing distance has nothing to do with the camera. This makes me question whether you know what you’re talking about. This is really basic knowledge that anyone who knows anything about photography should know; especially if you used the same lens on both cameras.
