Benefits to putting on muscle (even if you have no interest in bodybuilding) Some people love bodybuilding and that's awesome. While others may not, the process of training for muscle can give a lot of benefits that people want from their training. Meaning that the goal itself can help align your process. Not just good nutrition and sleep, but the ability to control increasingly heavy loads. I've noticed that this is what some people ACTUALLY want when they say they train for "strength" and use primarily low reps. I like both styles of training, but medium-rep strength feels more "solid" (think about how a 12-rep set feels compared to a 1 rep max). Some "pure" strength feats are insanely impressive. I saw a 130lb guy do a 225lb weighted pullup! But it's very notable that it was a fast and powerful movement, not slow and controlled. You can still build muscle with low reps or even high reps (I'm a bit skeptical of very high reps, like 100+). Just some thoughts! Have a wonderful day.
One thing I keep running into while working in a warehouse is young men trying to lift my boxes and pallets and expressing that they feel guilty if I lift something myself. I thank them for their courtesy, and explain that lifting things and movement in general is more and more important as women age, so while I appreciate the thought I’m much better off doing it myself. I promise to ask for help if I need it, and I do! I built, filled, and loaded a couple dozen 40-lb boxes today along with a lot of other lifting, and I’ll easily do it again tomorrow. Also, pumping up pallet jacks while flexing is great for toning upper arms!
@@ma7eus97 yes I'd be happy to! For people who are afraid of becoming too big: It requires having a proper diet and, for some people, even with a very carefully planned diet it's difficult. The only way you'll become big is if you nail nutrition, sleep and recovery. Though it may not be the case for overweight people, as there is most likely a layer of muscle underneath already. And, to top it all off, muscle growth is something you'll have to accept but not be afraid of, as, most likely, you won't look like a Mr.Olympia on accident, though you will see some muscles. I'm not too muscular, but certainly bigger than I used to be, and it changes only if I'm doing something physical or my muscles are under load. Most of the time I'm no bigger than the average person
i love that ive progressed my training in dips, pull ups, farmer carry, and pushups. I love lifting weights too but if you don't have tons of gym time, just doing squats. dips, pushups, and pull ups is a great way to ensure a workout that's challenging, good for your core, aerobics, and hits multiple muscle groups simultaneously
Best exercise influencer on the web imo. He also doesn't push for some perceived physical peak of perfection that one must achieve in order to feel good enough.
I guess it's more accurate to say if you work on it a bit more than average, you'll probably see things getting bigger just by circumstance. That happened with my butt. I was leg training to improve strength but my butt got bigger 🤣

Gym muscle and real world use muscle are two different things. The farmer and labor workers have real world muscle and grip strength. Gym muscle looks cool and only functions when something have a bar or grip point
They're the same thing. The same muscles. Laborers have more strength in certain areas like grip, though, and less in others like say lats. But you can have both. Do towel pull-ups and rice bucket training and your grip will probably outshine theirs in a while. They also have greater work capacity by doing high rep or long maintained work, like holding something awkward above their head while someone else fights to get it secured, and they simply can't let go. But biceps are biceps, whether you strengthen them by moving sacs of potatoes or by doing bicep curls.
@@mikafoxx2717 it’s all the little muscles. I seen a gym bro that deadlifts 500 and benches 400. I was moving a container of 40 gallons of water with no grips or handles on it. And he struggled to move it. I do not bench or dead lift anywhere near what he does.
I love the irrational fear people have that they will accidentally get too bulky. Building muscle like that is hard fucking work and so is maintaining it. No one has ever done it by accident. Most people can't do it at all without steroids and/or supplements.
I'd just like to emphasize that there is 1,000% no earthly way to "accidentally look too bulky." This is a fear that has been instilled mostly in women for decades. The amount of calories/protein you have to consume and heavy intensity + volume of weight lifting you'd have to do to get anywhere near "bulky" will take years, not months and you will very much see it coming. Because you definitely won't get there without pulling out all the stops to specifically reach such goals.
Bulky muscles get in the way and are about as dangerous as too much fat, both to your bones and cardiovascular system. Most bodybuilders don't seem to have that much power either, they're just inflated or can lift up a lot, but not pull themselves up, etc. Unless you're a pro (or want to be), there's zero reason to get bulky, tone and train your muscles to work for you instead.
If you have time it great if you could explain the whole rep thing. People say do 30 reps 3 times and I am just isn’t that just doing it 90 things. I just find it confusing.
I do think you are a body builder, but instead of building a body of grotesque muscle proportions you build a healthy and fit body that people actually can aspire to achieve as well.
You could try to use a low bar and only let as much weight as you can reasonably carry until your grip and other muscles and joints strengthen to handle it.
How to align body if body wonky? Like shoulders rounded and not straight or if upper left back hurts or foot facing outwards because of years of football
Well, start fairly light and get the technique, and do what you can without injury. Many people mention that lifting, even deadlifts have helped their back instead of making it worse. The body tends to regenerate parts of it that are used most, and if not used, even bone and joints will fade away. Wish you the best of luck
