- Winter Camping - Camping in Snow and Sub Freezing!!!
Join me for a winter overland car camping advendute as I explore the Eastern Oregon Desert in the dead of winter. In spite of snow and sub freezing temperatures I manage to have a pretty good time exploring. Come along with me as I set up camp, cook one of my favorite camp meals, check out a cheap piece of land for sale, and visit a few historic spots. I love winter camping for the challenges and the rewards of being out in some of the most remote places in Oregon in some of the harshest conditions.
Hope you enjoy joining me for more of my overland, car camping, history hunting, and exploring in some of my other videos as well. Above all, I hope you find some adventures of your own!
Cheers,
Casey

Never, ever buy a property without knowing exactly what requirements the County will impose upon you. Minimum square footage, inspections, stick built…. on and on they go. Yup, many will not allow a shed to be placed unless a residence is also on the property. They can kill your dream in a heartbeat.
For sure. That’s very solid advice!
Welcome back you Legend!!!!
So great to see you, Casey! Made my Sunday.
Coyote works video! Yes! 👍🏻❤️🇺🇸
Friends
😂😅😅😢
🏕️😿🤘🏿
Woo Hoo! New Coyote Works video!!
Now I'm going to Livestream my comments...
I've been looking for property out that way as well. Still kick myself for not having bought the Brother's Stage Stop especially seeing that the new owners have done nothing with it.
All the property I find out on the East side at a decent price is in Christmas valley, treeless and pancake flat. I would want some contour and trees so I'd have some cover.
Those drone shots breaking through the ice are awesome!
Man, that car has to be stolen. Wild to find it out there.
Idahoian instant potatoes are the best!
You've got that Black fire, you should look at the electric blanket option. I've been very happy with it.
Haha! Wendel shout out! He is one of my favorite people :)
Ohhhhh, the monopod suggestion is a good one. I have similar concerns with my CVT, I'm going to do the same now.
Uncrustables are delicious frozen
The sheep slaughter was anti-Basque activity right? I've been reading about Pete French lately.
I'm getting the feeling it was cold out there Casey :)
Thanks Casey! Fantastic video! I'm sure I speak for all when I say we really appreciate the work that goes into these wonderful videos. Bravo buddy!
Thanks my friend. And thanks for the messages on FB as well. Now I know this is you on TH-cam here!
I finally got a chance to watch the last 3rd of this video and it was certainly another good one! To me junipers and sage brush covered in snow is one of the prettiest sights in nature. Thanks for sharing Casey!
Glad you enjoyed!
Car is probably stolen and dumped. Someplace in Oregon, it is not raining, and there is some sunshine in the winter. Priceless.
Yeah I agree. Probably stolen and dumped. But it’s a long ways from pavement. Crazy they made it that far out there in that thing. Cheers!
Missed your outings! Glad you are back and eating "well" while camping!
Is there any meals that are not your "long time favorites"? lol
Always love stopping by and watching our adventures bud!
Nice to see you back posting content!
Hope your search for property goes well.
Thank you my friend!
Nice to see your videos again. Your video on camping in the Gazelle tent and your grandpas truck was one of my all time favorites and got me off my butt and truck camping….at 77 years old. You were the first guy I saw using an electric chain saw to cut firewood. I think hand cutting takes in video seems to take way too much time and energy.
So good to have you back Casey!!
Man it’s good to be back with you all again!
Glad you are able to get back to making videos again. I have been following you since you started. You make enjoyable and educational videos. Thanks
Now this is the Coyote Works I know and love. Thanks!
Right on! Cheers!
Absolutely enjoy your adventures.
Good to see you again!
Thanks my friend. Good to see you as well! Stay safe out there!
Hey Casey, glad to see you out and making great videos again! We love Idahoan potatoes (all their flavors), they are quick and tasty! Try using chicken broth instead of water, adds a nice flavor I think you will like!
Looking forward to your next adventure!
We missed you Casey. Your back 🎉
Glad to be back!
❤❤❤good to see your video. Excited too watch...🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hope you enjoyed it!
2 almost back to back. Nice work Casey! Glad to see you active on TH-cam again.
Morning buddy
Glad to see you uploading again.
Thank you my friend. More is on the way!
@@CoyoteWorks01i wish you were my friend.....
Back in your wrangler on adventures.... awesome!
You know it! Thank you my friend!
Thank you Casey from the UK, enjoy the frank and honest production no swearing just great adventure.
Thanks my friend! Glad you enjoyed it.
Sheep can graze successfully after cattle have passed through. But, cattle can't gaze after sheep because sheep eat the grasses/herbs much lower, and cattle can't "grab" to bite them.
Happy to see you back brother!!!
You are a true outdoorsman, keep it up
Love your show
Thanks my friend!
I am happy to see another video! Made my day again!
Love it there. Hope it all works out casey
Thanks my friend!
You used to produce great "survival" content. Glad to see you finally doing so again.
Looks like a great chunk of land Casey! Hope it all works out for you. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.
Wow, glad to see another video…boy, that dinner looked really good too…I hope the property works out for your needs and you end up getting it…I can imagine a whole new series of videos involving you making your new homestead and the adventures involved in the same
Really enjoyed the camping in the cold temperatures. You continue to enjoy camping and be safe.
Thanks, you too my friend!
Yay I needed his video
Hope you enjoyed my friend!
Great video Casey! Always enjoy your videos whenever you have time to put one together! Thx for putting in the extra time and hard work it takes to share your adventures with us!
Good to see you back!! Great video.
Been a rough start to 2024 for me, so nice to see a video like this to escape life for a while. Thanks, Casey.
I love that you’re back. Be careful showing your apps. You don’t want someone to get the coordinates.
Thank you my friend. And thanks for the reminder on showing the map app. Cheers!
it sure is good to see you back making videos to share with us again!! that looks like a great deal on that 40 acres, hope you can get it worked out with the owner!! thank you Casey for all the hard work you put into these videos & for sharing them with us!! hope 2024 is your best year yet!!!
I f someone asks you why you carry a gun out in the woods, that really doesn’t deserve a answer
Thanks 👍. It’s good to be back!
Great show, take care, brother 🎉
It is so good to have you back with some videos. Great ideas for the property project! Congratulations!
New video, awesome ! Keep them coming!
That definitely looks like a getaway or a crackheads car, probably stolen from the looks of the trunk damage. Nice adventure. 👍🏻
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks Casey for the great video been to long!
You bet my friend. Glad you enjoyed. Sorry to keep you waiting so long. Cheers!
YAY!
So glad you’re back! You were always my go to for overlanding videos and I love learning the history! I’ve missed it!
Ah those open chords and beats of your theme tune opening. Always lovely to hear them.
Many thanks my friend! Glad you enjoy!
That's some great looking countryside mate. Can't wait to see if you end up with that property out there and see what you end up doing with it. Would make for great videos. The night sky out there would be brilliant too with the big sky view.
I seen that property as well, and a few others… we thought about doing the same thing, building up an outpost escape. Look forward to seeing if you purchase it. Let me know, can always lend a hand helping you build it up. Great intro brother!!! Glad to see you are out adventuring!!! Good stuff brother…
Man I m surprised I’ve never ran into you out in the areas you like to explore. Been out hitting these same areas since I was born, 50 some odd years ago! Guess there’s still time.
Man me too. Been about 40 years out there for me. Flag me down if you do pass me out there!.
Good to see a video again!
More to come!
I would love to see you do an off grid situation. I live in the north end of Lake County and the biggest thing out here in the desert is water. I would love to see what you come up with. Cheers from the "Tri Cities" of the North End.
PS Thank you for being so rancher friendly. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain our industry. Welcome at our fire anytime.
Looked pretty chilly but man that’s nice 👍
Yes!!!
nice to see you again.
We're finally getting more snow here in Central Oregon Casey. Fun adventure and thanks for the video.🤠
Compared to last year, it feels tropical!
@@marge3157It sure does. 🤠
Dang two videos within six months!! Jk. Love the content
Lol.. Or another way to look at it is two videos in two weeks! Cheers my friend. Sorry for making all you wait so long!
Super cool my friend!! I would hate to get stuck way out there. Nothing really to tie a winch on to
Thanks for sharing, love coming along on your trips! 🙏🏻
Love it I need to get out and winter camp for the first time with the FJ and RTT!
Mr. Casey, everywhere you went is beautiful. I love the area of the property you were looking at. If you decide to buy this property for the apocalypse, will you use this property for your meet and greet also? If not, it looks lovely just to build and live out there away from the city life. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
Great adventure, glad to see you back and good luck with the land.
Cool property!!! Hope it all works out.
Ah, the land!
Been waiting for another new adventure to land from Casey! Really enjoyed this one and what a way to end ... snow falling... Thanks! 👍
Haven't been out in a while Casey, but you're video.
Is making me want to head out there this weekend
You should my friend. Hope you find a fun adventure out there!
Excellent video. That was a great campsite. Can't go wrong with mountain house biscuits and gravy.
Awesome view. Always enjoy seeing your travels and hearing the history of the area. Safe travels... 🤝🏻
Looks like so much fun!
Good times, glad to see back, found something extremely interesting a few years ago tho not in the Ochoco proper I'm sure someone in the past did, meant to get back there and investigate a little more but sadly did not, would love to tell you about it, have fun!
I was at Fredrick Butte the day before your open trailride last year. black truck. Blue R Pod trailer). When local ranchers pulled up with horse trailers. We talked while the three cowboys unloaded their horses, 4x4s), then proceded to chase cattle to nearby pens. Cool memory. Next morning, Casey came by to pick up more supplies at home. My first meeting with you Casey. Then over 115 4x4s showed up on Fredrick Butte rd for ride. Great three day adventure. Let's do that this year.
Very cool experience. A lot of people never get to see that kind of ranching and cowboying. And a lot of folks don’t even realize that kind of stuff still goes on around here. Cheers my friend!
Great video, Casey. Thank you for bringing us along.
Having lived in this part of the country for more years than I want to admit, I've found that if there is water standing in the road it's because it has a more solid base, it's the muddy looking spots with no visible water that you'd best avoid.
Can't say how many times I've filled that propane tank, and always in the winter with a whole lot more snow than is there now. White knuckle days for sure.
That’s proven to be true for me more than once too. Cheers!
Reminds me when me and you were out in my old big red truck!!! Broke every water hole there was… lol
Oh man that was some good times! Lol
That's what I'm talking about..
Yep yep
That was a fun trip! Glad you liked the video!
Neat adventure!
Thank you!
so glad to see you back to business as usual! or business as it should be at least!
Made me cold just watching you talk about how cold it was. Looks like a great area to explore! Thanks for sharing! George.
It was a chilly one. Thanks for watching!
Great work Casey!!!! Thank you!
Thank you my friend. Good to hear from you!
Thanks Casey. Really nice piece of property.
Dang son !! new Steve1989 MRE video and Coyote Works in the same week awesome.
Oh man I’m going to need to watch his! I love his stuff!
I enjoyed this video. I really like it when you give some of your instructions and camping tips for first timers. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers my friend!
Main reason I wet back to my P/U truck is fuel. I now pack 140 gallons so no fuel worry's. Thanks for the ride along. You may see me out there some time traveling the back country. Safe travels!!!
Great point. Extra fuel can be a bit of a challenge for me on some trips. Hope I do run into you out there!
It was really nice when we went to pine mountain observatory in Oregon and was able to go to Derek's cave hole in the ground and fort Rock without any fuel anxiety. Spent about traveling around the back roads
Cold season camping, always an adventure. Time well spent for sure. Another fine video from Coyote Works. Hooyah! ⚓️🇺🇸
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool area. Nice to see you back out adventuring!
