- Time to make the 79 perform the way it should from the factory, the guys at Ultimate diesel tune tuned my last 79 and we had a good run with it so we are back again for round 2. As usual things weren't straight forward and the guys found an issue with some of the previous work that I had carried out.

Toyota warranty is well and truly gone mate.
it will be up to you to prove the tune didn’t cause any issues.Toyota will send you broke in court while your car is parked up.
If the engine fails mechanically, toyota will definitely blame tune, because you tune the engine not the roof lining.
Old mate was as clear as mud with his roof lining and wheel scenario regarding warranty
😜
Geez.. after watching I’m getting worried about the 76 I’m picking up next week..
I’ll be using it to tow 2.8t.. I’m guessing same engine, same lack of power??
Yeah mate they are a little underdone in standard form. Don't stress though everyone is different and you may find it adequate. The are designed to do it all day long and be reliable.
Playing with a new one means you transfer all the risk to you and throws out your warranty, etc. Out of warranty go to town, I did and yeah big money will get you big numbers but the more you do to it, the less reliable it will become. Had mine for 14 yrs still a gr8 truck, done lots of trips and it still only has under 130K Km on it. It's my Outback tourer, not my daily or my exec sporty.
Yeah I agree the warranty is sketchy.
Thanks for the in-depth vid mate. Had a 07 one, never got it tuned and was ok but pick up my new one in June and after watching this reckon gunna get it done after seeing how safe it looks.
Glad it helped
I own a 200 and tow 3.5T, I never worry about fuel economy, get in the right hand lane and have fun 💯
Absolutely
had a defender 2.2 tdci for 10 years, yes, underpowered, always wondering how that v8 turbo feels, got my v8 2 months back, totally disappointed about the power, i would say, the 2.2tdci did better on factory setting, and got a 6th gear there too, i would keep it factory for a year or two to let the warranty look after it, if nothing go wrong i will tune it
I have one question for you.
When you’re going at 100 km an hour or trying to upper hill with your foot flat to the floor we are honestly in fourth gear ?
Why did you not change down to third gear?
They love a few rev’s and go much better!
Honestly I drive mine LC87 at 100 km an hour and third gear a few times each week it’s actually good for the engine.
Keep up the great videos anyway
Give her more revs you reckon. 😂👍🏼 thanks for tuning in.
@@smarttouringsystems-garage yes more rev’s is good and too lower revs causes leads engine damage.
I am a motorcycle engineer by Trade, but got to do many thousands of kilometres driving preproduction and production coaches around Europe and the engineers at M.A.N said the engine developed to run all the way up to the Red Line.
Plus all the large coaches I drive had a green zone And to drive around Netherlands where the speed limit for large coaches was 80 km an hour at the time I was working in Europe this me driving all day long in fifth gear instead of sixth gear.
If it changed up to 6th gear it would not be in the green zone which is the meaning the engine is labouring causing engine damage, changing down to 5th gear would keep it in the green zone just on the red line.
Was also interesting because one of the coaches I drove had 480 hp (may have been 480 km) anyway driving with a full load of passengers aboard up the Italian Dolomites at 100 km now would cause the engine to start overheating and you would have to change down a gear and let it rev up to cool down a bit of this meant I ended up only doing 85 to 90 km an hour up the mountain.
On the two trips I drove with this pre-production vehicle. I informed them that they needed a bigger radiator but they informed me had the maximum size radiator that could be fitted in any coaches.
When the production model came out the maximum power rating was 420 and this is why the powers dropped so the engine was more stable and did not overheat with the radiator size.
The same engine was also in some trucks and in these vehicles because they could have a much larger radiator the maximum power was over 500.
So when people say they are tuning them to get more power, there’s quite reason why the manufactures not back the power from the factory, sometimes it’s for the reason above and sometimes it’s for market requirements, pollution requirements of some countries at sold in.
Fully custom is a bit a stretch for Ultimate.
Are so saying they dyno tuned the car with the original clutch?
No I installed the clutch previously.
Hi Adam. Did you go to the Brisbane or Gold Coast one?
Gold Coast one mate.
@@SmartTouringSystems Thanks! On my list. The 76 needs it 😁
Nice one Adam, same sorta tune I’ll be getting in 2 weeks 🤙🏻
So any comparison is null and void because you didn’t plug in wiring 🤔
Yeah that bit sucked, but that was my real world experience, sometimes things don’t go to plan in life hey.
hey i wanted to ask you where did you buy your led front lights ... they look amazing
Hey mate the lights are std.
There was definitely some editing during the warranty convo..
Not really mate. That was what he said. 🤔
Hi Mate, what sort of winch and backing plate for stock bar

Great result. Next, a rundown on the new van?
That's the plan! 😉
2.8 auto cruiser makes more tuned
Careful, you will upset people by telling the truth.
I'd have the 2.8 over that useless V8 boat anchor
And an auto to- perfect for limp wristed people who need two hands on the steering wheel at all times😉
Cheers for the info bud , legend
No problem 👍
$1400, money well spent I’d say 👍
Yeah mate. I believe so too.
Hi what type of scan gauge is that and does it do egt
HI Kenny. Its a Scan gauge 2 and yes I have EGT and boost on it.
A 23-minute commercial for Ultimate Diesel Tuning, and they made you pay as well.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Great episode very informative
Glad you enjoyed it
And the dyno charts are?? where
Hi Peter the dyno results are in the video mate.
@@smarttouringsystems-garage thanks guys, must of missed that 10 seconds when I picked up coffee cup.
You’re Toyota engine and driveline warranty is over bud. Chassis and frame finished with the ‘gvm upgrade’
Toyotas still on the hook for the roof lining 😂😂
You didn’t listen to old mate at all did you. Australian Consumer Law still applies.
@@kendrayton7062 if old mate kills his clutch towing his caravan now after the tune and he wants Toyota to replace it under warranty how are you going to prove the tune didn’t cause it bud?
@@calamarininjabeast5866as if he’s stupid enough to keep the standard clutch in it mate. Everyone knows it’s gotta be upgraded after a tune.
🙄🙄x2 🦄
First comment
Is that a v8 ?
Yeah Mate.
👍thought they only came out in 4 cylinder models?
