Well its been a rough week and a half. Everyone in the house is ill including myself. I didn't go fishing for a week and a half helping to look after the poorly kids. Finally yesterday i went out to a forgotten pond caught a cracking mid double pike then somehow lost the main camera in the woodland meaning not only am i down a £700 camera but also lost all my footage. So anyways uploads should resume as usual next week 😂.... hopefully
I hooked a chub about 3lbs on a lure in a back brook. I noticed as it came in two other large chub and a big perch where with it. I think they follow thinking they are missing out on food
No way Chris sorry you lost your camera get video can I ask what size hook you use for free line a worm I normally use a size 20 or 18 but I only seem to get small roach and perch I have yet to get a fatty on just a worm thanks for the great video you inspire me to get out and catch a few hope you or one of your viewers can help cheers
Having taken up lure fishing recently, I've been watching your vids a lot. Great bite sized content. No blatant advertising. Lots of different techniques and different fish. You have a great channel and you've certainly helped me actually start to catch fish on the lures. Thank you. Might need to get the worms out now though 😂
Loved the double perch! Never seen anything like that before - amazing! Great specimens and side by side! Hope you're all feeling better. Thanks again for the great vids.
Been watching your videos for a while man and I noticed I wasn’t subscribed had to drop a sub 👍🏻 superb vids everytime, really helped me along since I’ve begun fishing. keep it up!
Awsome perch mate, worms great bait for them, had my best perch on lobs. Me and my family all ill currently too and having to isolate, so can't get on the bank, watching this has helped, cheers.
That was an awesome session. I can't wait to find some nice perch like that this fall as well. I love fishing for perch during the fall when all the big ones come out and try to fatten up for the winter. Thanks for sharing.
Nice video mate and sorry to hear about the family being ill and losing the camera. I had a chuckle when u said bout pike and ultra light… happens to me every time I hit the canal for Perch go light and the pike show up in abundance 🤦♂️ tight lines mate
Dafuq, even if I would try all day to catch a pike with a worm i wouldn't be able to manage, you landed 2 in a row haha. Nice video! Lovely canal man, looks very promising.
"Crystal clear canal"....didn't know they existed...my local canal when I lived in England was the Oxford at Rugby....the clearest I ever saw that was when I could see 6" down! However nice to see that they do exist and are fun places to fish!
It doesn't... This guy fishes waters that are fish rich but unknown to the public!! I've been fishing the UK canal system for weeks now and caught ( or indeed ) seen absolutely nothing
Chris, as a newby, and not wanting to damage any fish I catch, I’m wanting to use barbless hooks. Do you buy your lures barbless, or do you take the barbs off, or nip them in? TIA Andy
I've watched and enjoyed some of your vids on your local river. Do the water authority cut the Summer weed growth I wonder. Noticed some shots with streamer weed and some without when you were wading down the river casting lures. They do this practice on some of the Southern rivers usually in early Summer. Vandalism in my view.
Our local canal is pretty useless for fishing now. Ravaged by Zander so no small fish ever seem to survive. You only get the odd old carp and masses of Zander. And that's about it. The biggest Perch I ever had was a smidge under 2 1/2lbs (2lb 6oz.) at Lechlade, on the River Thames. Spinning from the back of my dads boat. I'd cast directly downstream and waited till the spinner had hit the bottom then reeled in. The water was some 7 to 8 foot deep and very clear. My spinner was followed by some dark striped shapes that stopped their pursuit and disappeared down stream. So I recast to the same spot and after waiting for the spinner to hit the bottom, I reeled in, but slightly faster. Again, my spinner was followed. However, this time, I jerked the rod up to speed the retrieve and the smallest Perch from the shoal, dashed forwards and took it. That was the one mentioned above. As for the others, I'd hesitate to guess their weight. But they simply dwarfed the one I caught. Regardless. Your canal looks lovely. Nice to see a variety of fish there too. Though it looks like it's not used much by narrow boats. Hence the clear water.
Your blessed atm ginge all my local stretches are baron due to extreme heavy weed and cormorants, maths being one with 2 lb hoping the frost will fix it's the piking this time last year was amazing smallest fish was 7/8 but currently unfishable
Same mate, I'm from Bugbrooke (if you know where that is) and the canal looks like tea. Probably only 1-2 inches of visibility at most. Instead i just fish the Nene!
@@thepikeangler2022 Go for it mate. Lat time I went dead bating on the canal all I caught was crays. Its a sad state our canal. Didn't even fish it once over the summer. The Nene is definitely a better bet for zander mate.
When I used to fish, perch were my favourite but I never got grips with them, literally. No matter where I tried to hold them, they would always get me. Also, they always seemed to take the hook right down and so were difficult to unhook.
Awesome vid as usual Chris. Two gorgeous Perch, but the first fish had to be a pesky Pike, didn't it?😁 Sometimes the simplest methods are the best.👍Sorry to hear you and the family haven't been very well. I hope you all feel better soon. And it wouldn't be you without a minor calamity or two occurring during a sesh.😂 Get a new camera and we'll look forward to new Ginger fishing adventures soon. Take care mate.☺
just a question , what i understand it was just the hook that you have warm on, you through in water , right? I mean there no flouter ? how does only hook can go so much far?
You could’ve used an anti-reject rig, back leads, alarms and …oh, a bivvy! But you wouldn’t have enjoyed yourself anywhere near as much. Fishing in its purest form - ace!
@Monty Duvall haha, wish I could do that. Didn’t go to school yesterday so I could go fishing in my local little stream that runs through my village. Caught a couple dace and a couple trout. Had no lessons so I thought what’s the point in going in😂. Tight lines👍🏼
@Monty Duvall haha cheers mate I agree. I’m studying my a levels in maths physics and geography. Geography is the only important one realistically, cuz what the fuck is the point in me learning that 1-sin squared theta = cos theta, whatever that means😂😂. The stream is really weird, it’s a little tributary to the nene in south Northants, that locally is known as the Brooke. In most places it’s about 1 foot deep by 6 feet wide but a little upstream is a deep pool about 5 feet deep by 10 feet wide where the flow is virtually non existent. In fact, the flow only goes downstream in the middle, then weirdly does a u turn and flows upstream on the edges of the bank. Caught dace up to about 6 oz in there and trout up to 2lb. It’s a mega little spot. Quite lucky to be in Northants tbh it’s a great area for the sport.
My nearest Canal is permanently coloured so the Perch are almost silver in colour. I can only dream about sight fishing and lure fishing generally is tough.
Some awesome Perch there pal! When you catch one do you move on or do you gish the same spot for a while? I'm still learning about Perch fishing, inknow they tend to shoal up but do they all scatter when one is caught?
It really does depend on the venue and how much pressure the fish get to be fair. Im my experience at least on my local canal. With the smaller perch you can just keep catching them from the same shoal and they don't seem to move off, but if its a group of 2/3 bigger fish most of the time after you catch the first one the rest get very wary and sometime will charge away. Like i say it really does depend on the venue and conditions though.
Awesome video mate I’ve got a lake near me with big perch too 3- 3 1/2 lb And advice on spinners that are good for them I have a 7ft medium rod 10-30g I may use for it Also I’ll prob use a float set up with a size 10 and a lobworm And I may use a ledger set up also
For perch i use small crankbaits 4-7cm stop and pause and wait for them to hit it. You have to feel them bite and virtually strike simultaneously. They don't hit it like a chub or pike.

good luck finding that camera mate
Hope you and family are feeling better now. Sorry to hear you lost your camera.
Perch are some of the most beautiful fish. Love the colours on them

Another very enjoyable video, think it was the late Richard Walker that said there's no bigger fish than a big perch, stunning.
Loved the double perch! Never seen anything like that before - amazing! Great specimens and side by side! Hope you're all feeling better. Thanks again for the great vids.

Your videos are the Dogs Diamonds!

Brilliant video Chris, felt I was there so exciting, great simple tactics,🇮🇪
Hell of a session chris beautiful perch well fished awesome chris,Dellboy
Chris you make awesome videos , this one is no exception. Stalking and light tackle great way to fish , good way to take up fishing on a budget too 👍
Dafuq, even if I would try all day to catch a pike with a worm i wouldn't be able to manage, you landed 2 in a row haha. Nice video! Lovely canal man, looks very promising.
Cheers Chris ,really enjoyed this vlog ,appreciate the work you put in to this ,thanks 👍👍
That has got to be the cleanest canal I've ever seen, must be nice to have a stretch where narrow boats don't dump their shit in the water.
Your canal has amazing clarity, don't get that clear water round here, but have had some good Perch out
Great way to catch perch mate, takes me back to my youth catching them in ditches this way 😂
Fantastic vid!! And I’m definitely going to give that a go this week🎣
8:44 Fantasztikus sügér, gratulálok!
Good video Chris hope you and your family gets better soon.
Cracking session Chris, keep them coming.

nice catch ! Looks like the UK has some nice fishing waters !
It doesn't...

Had my best fish using this method 👍
Same
Its my favourite method for perch
Great video again, would be good if u could do a few videos of how u set up some of your rigs, keep up the good fishing,
Like how to rig a free lined worm? 👀
Chris, as a newby, and not wanting to damage any fish I catch, I’m wanting to use barbless hooks.
Do you buy your lures barbless, or do you take the barbs off, or nip them in?
TIA

Fantastic Perch Chris, well done mate . I see you brought the rain with you 😂😂😂. Take care mate all the best from Downunder 👍
Cheers Pete
Cracking couple of perch at the end mate always a joy watching your videos it's a straight click 😂😁👍
New to the channel and Its one of my favourite channels now
Really enjoying your videos 2 great perch not bad pike either

Epic perch!!!
🎣😎🐟
You are the only man who could catch a pike on a worm
Its Quite common if you fish worms all the time, ive had several on worms when fishing for perch, just little jacks though
Cracking video! Fantastic brace of Perch!
A super way of fishing - used it for both perch and chub
Great piece to camera keep them coming they are very much appreciated. Regards

I needed that video thank you for making it
Nice. Where I live, the canal perch won't take earthworm. Either maggot, or a soft lure, but never worms. Isn't that strangest?
Great video mate 👍👍

Just seen the comment about the camera shit hope you can keep filming bro love the content
@gingerfisherman do you find canals with colour and a lot of traffic any good? My localish canal is the grand union near Northampton
Good question I'm struggling on the Trent and Mersey spinning and on the float.
Yeah, us poor buggers up norf slummin it in the muddy stuff. Lucky if i can see a fish 12 inch below surface on canal near us
Same mate, I'm from Bugbrooke (if you know where that is) and the canal looks like tea. Probably only 1-2 inches of visibility at most. Instead i just fish the Nene!
Yes I know it and know the Nene very well. That's the closest to me and is crystal clear. I wanted to target some zander

The perch here in Tasmania should be heating up soon. check out some of the rippers i got last year. great show. just subscribed.😀

nice perch
big ups ginge fisherman
2 lovely perch
IS good to see y Buck fishing !
So funny with those pike, my last video i had 2 pike on worm fishing for perch!

Great video love the content👍
Where about in the UK are you. I would be good to know your locations.
Hey ! I just saw a video in the Inurig, its a weird wiggling worm thing and looks like it would be deadly for pike. Look it up, its pretty wild.
just a question , what i understand it was just the hook that you have warm on, you through in water , right? I mean there no flouter ? how does only hook can go so much far?
Great video 👍🏾
Great video buddy..do you ever come across any zander in the waters you fish..Neil
Lovely perch 😍
i had the same problem with pike of that size 1 to 2 pound ,, 2 days ago ,in the end i left one on as live bait until a perch took it
Awesome, a new vid
Bro how so fast
Quality vid perchfect fish 👍
Hey where did you get your net and handle from? Great video as always.
Nice fish mate
Awesome buddy awesome 😎
You could’ve used an anti-reject rig, back leads, alarms and …oh, a bivvy! But you wouldn’t have enjoyed yourself anywhere near as much. Fishing in its purest form - ace!
People that fish like that for anything other than carp genuinely annoy me😂😂
@Monty Duvall good luck getting that fish mate. Would be a stunning fish to catch.

Cant beat free lining with a worm love it

Great Channel!

Are you doing a collab with Carl&alex
Hi mate, where is this canal please?
Is that Basinstoke canal ?
Hey, which underwater camera are you using in your privious Videos? Thanks a lot and great YT Channel
That was awesome 👌
My nearest Canal is permanently coloured so the Perch are almost silver in colour. I can only dream about sight fishing and lure fishing generally is tough.
What reel you on fella
Hope you and your family are feeling better Chris- been cursing you cos of no new uploads.
I wish our canal was that clear. Ours is always like mud soup and you can't even see 2" below the surface
Nice vid 👍🏻What canal is this?
What canal you on ??
You're "Accidentally" catching pike and I'm still yet to get my first 🙃
