In case anyone is wondering this works really well. I can hit with more power and use what feels like less effort whereas before I would have to muscle the racket to achieve a faster kick serve
Pronation is one aspect, the internal rotation of the lower arm, but you did not mention external rotation of the upper arm which presumably also helps?
I believe so, every serve needs pronation to boost power. Yet in kick serve, the difference is biggest compared to other type of serve. In my experience, while serving slice or flat, recreational player could get away without pronation. Once one wants to improve in serve, pronation is a must for every serve & overhead.
Coach you yourself say the technique is very unnatural. I'm wondering if self - inflicted injury can be symptomatic with this technique? I have a very sensitive shoulder... 😬🤔
Hi. Try to just shadow stroke this movement and then recreate it with the ball, but without finishing behind the back. This should help and you won't over extend in a shadow stroke

Excellent Steve, I can imagine how effective this'll be and will definitely be trying out the amended finish. Thank you.

Great advice .👍
Thank you coach

I think this pronation exercise would benefit the flat and slice serve as well as well as the kick if done in the same manner. Do you think so?

I am confused. I can hit a flat serve with pronation. No problem pronating. But I have not yet learned slice or kick. Is this drill helpful for me?
