In 1990, I thought Dog Brothers was cool, but crazy! I was 22 then and Dog Brothers was in the infant stages. Now I'm 43 and being given a Dog Brother name. Shows you that when I was young and cocky, I was not willing to be humbled and desired to stay in my false realm. Now I'm older...much older, and fully understand and embrace the learning experience and crucible. Real fighting is not pretty as in training, but with a good foundation, there's a glimps of it in combat. Woof!
Actually, many (including myself) are combat vets from various campaigns. It's not the struggle that binds us in regards as respect, it's the commonality to want to be better then want can be learned in a structured "school" system. Within the tribe of the Dog Brothers, we all have mutual respct and admiration for each other. Each fighter is my "teacher" they can only teach if they give me their VERY best. In return, it is my duty to do the same. We have many LEO and Military that fight.
Mark Denny (Crafty Dog) And Eric (Top Dog) are the pioneers in reality based stick fighing, but it goes far beyond that. The are true warriors, open,friendly ,looking out for others and true to what they say.You can learn a great deal from the Dog Brothers, if you ready to step up and don't mind a little pain (:. Pagan Dog
TRUE Warrior-Spirit! You are awesome, Guys! I am currently doing Escrima in Germany - could you tell me, what the german group is called and where they train?
@pedro90 there are no didvisions, weight classes, or rules (except 1). As in the street, you really don't have the convenience of being equally paired up. Best thing is to tell people you've never fought like this before. many experienced fighters will help you pair up with others OR fight you and take you along this journey themselve (push, but not break)
kudos to those who fought. just one thing i want to point out: grappling mentality in FMA could develop bad habits. look at 6:47, the big guy decided to take his opponent to the ground to pound him out. the guy below reverses and pulls out a knife and starts stabbing at 7:10 (good job btw). imagine that happening in real life. still, good job to everyone.
is there a novice division. I've got tons of submission grappling, brazilian jiujitsu, gung-fu, and thai exp. but no weapons whatsoever. I'd still love to do this.
your right. its effective in a certain context. but id say a quick finger to the eye or a punch to the throat or groin would be economic, as well as devestating to the opponent. surely not something all that difficult to do when your in BJJ range. of course i understand even here where those techniques certainly couldnt be utilized safely. dont get me wrong if it so happened i had the right circumstances for say a bjj type arm bar i wouldnt pass on it. everything can be useful.
Hell yeah! Great battle there. You dont seem to have many rules, just non-stop beatings. Perhaps some of my vids might entertain you, more structured on the cutting power of the blade. I want to see more from you guys..
@joepuno Thank you, I wasn't going to reply to an "obvious" ignorant person. Saying that "your family has deep seeded roots in filipino martials arts" does not make them experts. It's like saying my mom is a chef...doesn't quite make it genetic to be a good cook. And saying that Stick fighting is a "Cultural" issue is like saying Muay Thai is cultural to Thais...His 28 years of life experience requires many more years of experience before chiming in here.
if someone came at me with a stick i would bridge the distance and go into the clinch. keeping out of range then skipping directly to the clinch. i would use my jiu jitsu against them. i have trained in all forms of combat. im training this summer with a bunch of people. gonna teach it right though. one hit one kill followed by a follow through if desired. then the fight ends for a second to begin again. im not interested in mere sticks. and one stab with a knife incapacitates. dumb this is.
@mrkitanai1 And please, don't talk about PTSD as a "second hand" expert. You don't want to go through that hell. Nor do you want to mention it as if you care more than the people going through it.
@shaynemartialarts guess you never heard of balintawak? pure stick system. and how big of a man you must be to argue with your keyboard. I am sure they chords of their computers tremble at your words. Have some respect, just cause it is your opinion does not mean it is fact. Why take the time to post if you feel this is a waste of the martial arts. apparently from your vast knowledge why show up to a gathering and school everyone,

There was a time I didn't understand this. Then I got hit in the head and got it.

@Pihec A headbutt can be a humbling thing :)

sure it can happen. certainly not advisable. you want to injure your attacker as quickly as possible and get back up, ready for any other opponents.
It's awsome, and i would love to fight to those guys using no weapons.
THAT would be realstic and such a good trainning.

Dommage que ce soit interdit en France !!!
