Great video. The 1983 stock was delivered to Neasden overnight by pairs of class 31’s and two brake vans as barrier vehicles. One of the brake vans arrived at Neasden with a defective bearing and was not allowed to return on LUL tracks. It sat at Neasden for a few months before it was scrapped on site. Dave.
Underground Eric , as a very knowledgeable expert on the tube underground: have you heard of , the disused station walled off from tracks. Used by army as a transit camp, for troops due to be sent to the many trouble spots in the 1950s guarded by redcaps, army police , to stop runaways, as conscription at 18 ,whom mostly being trained for cannon fodder ! Mainly troopships , long time at sea : Malaya;Cyprus Korea Kenya etc , me by air ,28 hours to Nairobi , converted bombers Viscounts , not pressured, only five hours before refueling ! Hope of interesting boring ?
Great video - really enjoyed watching you put this together. I always say every railway video should have a couple minutes running session at the very least. It's just nice to see them going through the scenes you worked so hard to put together. Personally, I'd love to see some more London-ish stock and some EMU's working their way!
Great video! Really enjoyed that. The tube/underground is not something I would model so it’s something quite different to watch and take interest in. 👍
Hi eric. well done with that train. by the way by varnishing your canal and painting it brown then light green will give a good finish. Thats what i have done on Acton Wells.
Hi Eric 👍 some great running shots and the train looks really nice. Good tip about the tape on the inside of the body. Hope you and the better half have a fantastic Christmas Andy
Genius indeed. You could pretend that the 47 is taking the tube stock for scrap somewhere. You might have to do an inventory soon to see what you do have under the boards. Good one Eric, enjoyable as always.
Love a bit of kit & R.t.r bashing 😅 i Enjoyed it, and it breaks up the linear of layout building, thanks for making these videos... Merry Christmas 😊 Eric 🎄🎁🎉
Super video, as always, and a good use for spare tube stock to make an interesting and unusual rake. 62 stock always ran as four-car units on the Central line and were delivered as such. There's no real need for a fifth car in the rake as I think that even when they went for scrap it was mostly as four-car sets. I can't immediately recall why there's a fifth car in the west end RAT, I'm sure the answer is on Google unless someone chips in to respond to this. Keep up the good work and merry Christmas.
Thankyou, yeah the 5 car set is because it is just a standard-ish 4 car unit but with a rail adhesion car thrown in the middle, which is what im thinking of doing with my spare bodyshell now, as you are quite correct, they were 4 cars so would look odd. I was just a little excited i think 😂
Great video and very informative. I didn't realise there are two RAT 62 trains. I thought west end had a 92 one but I'm guessing with the shortage of 92 stock at the moment, they may have brought some more 62 out of retirement. Just a thought, if you're going to make a RAT train, which would be quite nice to film, why not make it a track cleaner? In the days before John's replacement bogies, I converted the original EFE axels by threading them through some brass tubing and adding a bit of lubricant. It's a bit of a faff as they are machined to grab the wheels which needs to be smoothed to get the tubing over and then gluing the wheel back on. It was a vast improvement over the original, probably not quite as good as pinpoints but a lot cheaper.
Thanks, yeah the eastern end of the central has an 8 car 62 stock, the west end has a 5 car. The extra cars on the eastern one help prevent it from getting gapped ect, they can swap over if required but its unusual. That would be a great idea actually, its just wether i could make it run reliably enough is all! I could use an extra trailer car that i would slot into the consist, there was even a proper rail adhesion car livery some years back!
I remember a very tatty paint job on the sandite car and the rest in very poor looking unpainted aluminium with riveted metal strips over the door rubbers. There used to be a 1960 Track Recorder that used to follow it around but I haven't seen that for years. Hattons used to do a motorised track cleaner that towed around. One of these would be a good candidate for a 62 mod.
metro models i used to buy alot of stuff from there but sadly i sold all my lul stuff, had ballast trains as well he was good guy ex driver i believe new sub as well
Eric great addition to your rolling stock, looks spot on well done, many thanks for sharing. Please stay safe and you and your family have a wonderful Merry Christmas and all the best for 2024. Cheers and regards from Barry..🎅🍺
Probably not quite appropriate for your layout. Whilst watching i had thoughts of the Alderney Railway and the consist they use 2 38 stock coaches i think they are being pulled by a 4 wheeled diesel shunter
@@kineticrail oh wait did your initial comment mean to say that the Alderney consist isnt appropriate? The way you worded it sounded like you meant the train in the video!
@@kineticrail ahhh im with you now. Was a bit confused there. Yes would be a strange one, however it would also be quite fun for a laugh. Defo on the list 😄

Sounds about right! I did miss out on some 83 stock bodyshells a while back sadly

Thanks mate! Yeah in an ideal world i would, just depends what state the railway is in at the time 😇
The next vid will be a nice one for scenery 👀

Well done Eric, looks brilliant. Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs and a happy New Year. Roy the Jinty man

Thanks mate, yeah its the little things hey! Weve all been there, right at the end of a job and we break something 🤣

That's a very cool rake Eric, great work. Ben.
Cheers Ben!
You should build the upcoming London 2024 stock
You should watch the video!

Great video as usual, do you have more rolling stock than TfL? Did you try Metro Memory game?
😂😂 no i havent, i think id be awful at it to be quite honest mate!
Luverly job, nice fairly unique rake
Thanks bud!
Superb and it really highlights the height difference of Tube stock. Also, you could probably do a session on what you’ve got hidden in the Shed !
Yeah probs could, its a bit ridiculous in all honesty!
Not sure if anyone has said, but I was informed that when the 62 stock was delivered, the cab end units faced inwards. Useless fact of the day.
Unsure mate, the vids/pics i have seen are normal formation, though im modelling it as them going away for scrap/works instead
Damn, quite jealous of your collection
Dont be, most of it is in bits! Ha
Great video again Eric
Cheers mate
