Today we take a trip to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the West Island of Montreal. It was our first time on the West End of the Island of Montreal and it did not disappoint. We met some friendly locals, had some good food and drinks, and even flew my drone. The drone still needs a name... leave a comment with suggestions ;)

Question of the Day... Do you prefer living in a big city, or a quiet town close to nature?

Quiet town close to nature....and not too far from a big city either.

I'm from Montreal, born and raised in the east part of the town. I went to Saint-Anne once and it felt so weird since it's on the island, but it's like a small coastal village. I loved it!

This is my hometown! I have lived in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue for 22 years. I have always told my family that when I move out, I plan to move right back into this town. I went to school at John Abbott, Cunningham's is my second home, I attend that farmer's market every Saturday.... as a long time subscriber this is SURREAL. Thank you so much for the warm &kind words about my town.

From Lionel-Groulx métro station, you can take bus #211 and about 90 minutes later you are at Sainte-Anne de Bellevue. The Montreal-Hudson commuter train also has a station there.

Definitely need to hit up Cap St-Jacques in Pierrefonds & L’Anse-à-l’Orme parc on waterfront nearby. Good recommendation from Alex. Native Montrealer; I love watching you discover the island :)

Amazing video man!! The area looks so different than Montreal, it’s the perfect spot to feel outside from the city with a simple logistic!
Also, a lot of good tech in your video! The drone shots are amazing, can’t wait to see more + the blue box is exactly what any TH-camr needs on camping trips! 😂 I’m gonna consider getting one for sure!

You want see nature in Montreal go in Cap Saint Jacques and Île Bizard or Bois de Liesse also you don't need a car to go there. Also at Sainte-Geneviève you can see old architecture like the beautiful church Sainte-Geneviève of Montreal that was there since 1844.

Ground cherry is called "cerises de terre" in French! 🙂 and as a matter of facts, I live nearby (well about 20 minutes west of Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue) . On a next expedition, if you decide to expend the territory of your adventures, you should come to my neck of the hood. I live in a small town, Rigaud which is almost at the border of Ontario. So I'm midway between Ottawa and Montréal. I've worked in Montréal for several years and was commuting by train mostly. On very few occasions did I take the car to go to work! I prefered commuting instead of living in Montréal. I love my tranquility here... it was pretty rural but not so much now|

Cool. If you'd travelled a few km's eastward, you would have hit my old stomping grounds of Pointe Claire and Dollard des Ormeaux. Used to hit the bars out in Ste. Anne when I was in university. Ah, memories. You're making me homesick, dude.

I live in the west-island, I'd say the entire area is nice. When you life in the west-island, you pretty much never need to go anywhere east or downtown, we have almost everything here, but you absolutely need a car or else it's pretty limiting. Driving in the west-island is great though, not much traffic and parking everywhere.

We used to buy acid at Brasserie Pis Dru. That was back in the 1970s. I think it is Annie’s now. The inside at the back where we scored was up some stairs and painted hospital green it was awful. The Window Pane acid was good. I swore when we were tripping that I had left with someone else’s hands. Lol. My god. I was 18. It f-I got hilarious. We used wander all along Lakeshore road from Sue Anne’s to the Maples Inn in Pointe Claire (on foot or bicycle ) totally ripped we’d often go up to the cemetery and play hide and seek on acid. It was terrifying. One time my friend jumped in to a 5foot deep hole and when I went by he grabbed my ankle. Holy shit we had some good times.

If you like bicycles, you can try the cycling path of the Lachine canal. It's 13,5km. You ride next to the water pretty much the entire time. It's from the Old port all the way to the municipality of Lachine. I'm sure you can rent a bike somewhere around it.

Even the francophone call it «West Island», and «Fairview» not «Pointe-Claire», «DeeDeeO» and not «Dollard-des-ormeaux or Dé-Dé-O». So, yes, much more anglophone.

  • @Darkdragon5544
    @Darkdragon5544 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey you just visited my native little hood
    Few things:
1- You featured unknowingly my dad's place in the background
2- That water spot, specifically, is called the "Rivière Sainte-Anne" since across the bridge is an island (Ile Perrot) and the Ottawa River is officially the other side
3- Careful, Drone regulations also have to do with the distance you operate from the airport, it can be expensive
4- Stop calling them patios; restaurants in Quebec have terrasses, even in the West Island
5- Yes, the West Island is more Anglophone, Sainte-Anne de Bellevue used to be more Francophone but the college and the McGill campus turned demography
6- Times ago it was a real party town!! Especially Thursdays at Annies!!
