X2 on Flitz! I sometimes apply a little baking flour to the wheel after polishing and wipeing down. Wipe the wheel with a soft rag to make sure the flour comes in contact with the whole surface. It will soak up the black polishing residue from small crevises and brighten the wheel up.
Blue Magic is my favorite Chrome Polishing Compound it's creamy and easy-to-use and leaves a blue luster on the Chrome or aluminum Blue Magic cream polish
Used it for the first time last weekend definitely worth buying if you're a person who likes detailing your own car recommend first time to use on lowest setting 800 so you don't burn paint don't leave in one spot keep moving it over paint easy to use th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfzbDkCRyv3CFXnLZI4APZtRRuG2uRmP2 truck looks like new again used maguires black light battery life like all milwaukee products seem to hold up well 😀
That orange buffer looks like a high speed wheel for use with a die grinder. That drill probably isn't spinning it fast enough to be effective. It's a heavy cut pad, so you'd start with that first to get the surface contaminants and stains off, then go to your red foam applicators to finish your color.
Did a good job but since you're making money I'd definitely look into using airway buffs and buffing compounds. You can do an entire wheel in 10 minutes. Also, your method looks more like a maintenance method.. meaning the wheels were already polished and in decent shape.
Yes the wheels were in decent shape this wasnt for crazy bad wheels that wasn’t the purpose of this video. But these were acid washed before hand as it was on a dump truck and that’s the way they clean it.
For many years I did mine by hand also. I’ve been using Mother’s (company name) with the three applicators that come in a kit, about $100.00. It’s worth it. I can do a wheel in about 10min. Great job Andy.
Next time give the FLITZ Buff Ball a shot. You can run them faster then the Mothers Ball & no worries about tearing them up around the lugs or valve stem.
How do you prevent the black sticky thing that sometimes i get . I put the solution and after a couple of seconds it turn black and stickit to the rim really bad
You cant prevent that, thats all the oxidation you are polishing away. After your done with whatever polish machine youre using, you have to grab a clean microfiber cloth and wipe the black stuff off
This process works great on chrome wheels. Here is some items to use: Mothers Powerball lg amzn.to/2PG6O5i Mothers Powercone amzn.to/2VI4DDN Mothers Powerball mini amzn.to/2PG7N5u Flitz Metal Polish 2 lb amzn.to/2DLRH5D Flitz 1.6 oz amzn.to/2Y3AKvf
I have after market Corvette aluminum wheels with chrome facing the outside. The chrome is flaking off and on the inside the aluminum is becoming pitted. I'm considering strippping the chrome off and doing a polish like on this video. I'm willing to do the work but I don't want to ruin the wheels. I have never stripped chrome off of a wheel and I'm afraid of what I'll find under the chrome surface. Any suggestions?
@@AndysAutoCarePlus To do chrome? Does a power coating shop do chrome? In my research I've discovered that to get wheels re-chromed is more expensive than new wheels. I'm a D-I-Y kinda guy. Just looking to make these sparkle. Thinking of making this a winter project.
I have Weld Racing Rock Smashers wheels on my Suburban, what polishing drill bit should be my first buy that can do a decent job on the entire wheel? I’m thinking the mother’s cone, what do you think.
Thanks bro awesome job. Just a question about foam ball. When you polish truck rims near the valve and wheel nuts does it damage the foam ball by ripping etc
@@markstewart7144 if your aluminum is in rough shape, it will to be cut with several different metal polish pads , using different stages of metal polishing rouge. Real rough wheels need sanding. If your wheels are only lightly oxidized, this method will work.
Ima buy these polished aluminum wheels for my truck I was wondering just week to week to clean em is it okay to just use ‘wheel cleaner’ and just clean em with a microfiber towel or do i gotta get the rotary out and poilish em everytime they get dirty? Cus I polish my truck every 3 months and just give it a regular car wash every week. Thx
If you’re going to be using a wheel cleaner on them just make sure it’s acid free because the acid will deteriorate them a lot faster I would suggest using a product like brake buster you can use that for the tires and the wheels. Brake Buster 1 Gallon amzn.to/2IoOnPc
I've got a fleet of rigs with Alcoa wheels and I clean them every Saturday. I've started to polish with just Liquid Aluminum polish and a Power Cone plus micro fibers. I didn't think to wax them so I'll have to get some. That makes sense and will hopefully make them need to be polished less often right?
Look for Finish Kare 1000P sealant. Very affordable and one tin will cover your fleet many times over. Goes on like a wax. Spreads like hard cheese, and then loosens up like grease. Buff off after a few minutes, and don’t apply in direct sunlight. The reason I recommend this product is because it is resistant to 250*F. Wheels get hot. And this sealant absolutely repels water and other debris.
Thanks a heap for the video. 👍🏻 Never used Flitz before. I would love to get your input as to how it would compare against Simichrome Polish. Thanks again! 😉👍🏻
Doesn't matter what you do, in a week they'll look grey and dismal again. Junk!!! We went to steel wheels with chrome simulators. $450 for all 6 wheels including center hub covers and lug nut spikes. If you’re committed, any automotive cutting compound will do the job. But if you’re looking for low dust and product sling, try Griots FCC. Cuts at the 1500-grit level, and you can follow-up with a finer polish if inclined. Just make sure to add protection after you prep the surface post-polish.
