Hey, at least Danes, Norwegians and Finns can all enjoy this series adapted to their own culture/language. I'd pity the Swedes if there was something to pity, bo bo bo bo.
Nobody seems to understand the finnish version :D No wonder, nobody seems to understand finnish people either, but of course in my opinion, danish and norwegian versions don't have a chance. But overall this play is a masterpiece, still watching it every year. I'm in my thirties :D
i don't see how this scene fits into the norwegian and finnish renditions: to me it makes sense in the danish version, since danes used to be quite good at german, which contrasts how bad danes used to be at english in comparison, which explains why the goblins syncretize english and danish. it also makes sense for geographical reasons. it would've made sense if the finns had attempted to speak in swedish or perhaps made a scene that was entirely different from the others. same thing goes for the norwegian version.
As a finn this scene seems perfectly logical as it is. Germany was Finlands only allie in second World War and back then some finnish soldiers understoond german quite well. And I've been told elfs can live long live, so maybe that elf who turned into german was fighting along german soldiers back then. Perfectly logically unlogical, but acceptable :D
Well it makes sence in Norway too because during ww2 we had lots of German soldiers here, a puppet government supported by the Germans, and the Germans build lots of bunkers and defence stations along the coast. Also we had/still have? German in schools over here as a language choice in high school and of course share some Germanic folklore traditions.
The danes liked to underplay it, which I personally think helped the comedy a lot. I never understood how it could translate to other languages, using pretty much the same script, because Oluf and Gertrud are very stereotypical jutlanders. But, you norwegians seems to love your version, so the Travellin' Strawberries must have done something right.
The Danes "invented" it.. Actually by some danish comedy musicians called De Nattergale. 3 guys, who ofcause also play the charecters in the story.. They were used to coming up with crazy songs, which you also can see in the episodes.
Ok, I admit that because I'm Finnish, I like the Finnish version most. But i have to say one thing. In Danish and Norwegian version... well let's just say that we Finns don't pronounce German so well than you guys. But I've always thought Danish language sounds a little bit like German, so... (and I love German language)
the Danish is the best! no doubt of it! It's the original and well the Norwegian and the Finnish is pretty bad copies, but I kinda like the Finnish better than the Norwegian and the Finnish Günther is pretty nice. But the Danish is the best and we can thank De Nattergale to come on this idea!
I'm from Norway, and yes the danish verison came first, but i think the danish and the norwegian verison's are really good :-) however the finnish verison sucks and i mean SUCKS! ;)

To be be far, Finnish is a very different language from Norweagean and Danish. It is not even Indo-European.

Does it really matter which version came out first? Isn't it better that everyone enjoyed the version in their language?
@Rec8940 "De Nattergale" weren't ASSIGNED to the roles. It was them who had written it. :b

The norwegian and finnish actors are too old in my opinion, the danes hit perfect when asigning "nattergale"... But there are so many opinions..
