    I use masking very often but was always confused about Intersect. Thank you for this tutorial! I now have more confidence in using intersect. 👏

    I've watched a ton of masking tutorials, and this one's by far the best. Thanks for taking the time to delve so deeply into the process. I not only learned a lot about the Intersect tool, but also many other Lightroom and Photoshop features while watching your fascinating workflow. It will forever change the way I work in Lightroom. Nicely done!

    Excellent explanation of the intersect tool! The entire edit was very well presented and concise as well as tasteful. Your integration of a lot of tools in Lightroom and Photoshop was very instructive. Your efforts are much appreciated.

    I have viewed different intersect vids, and the concept for me, has been hard to comprehend /master/understand.....I have to tell you, seeing you make these edits and most importantly "why" you made these edits. This has been one of the best videos that teaches how to use it. My understanding of the intersect tool is so much better. Absolutely beautiful work! THANK YOU!!!

    Great! I hope they will include this in the Lightroom Mobile version as well! Which, by the way, became extremely powerful and versatile recently! In my trips, I find it very comfy to work on the tablet (or simply having a coffee on the couch) instead of the laptop. Except for the plug-ins, it's 90% the same Lightroom.

    Excellent editing Christian, I find as well the intersect function to be the most useful masking tool. One suggestion perhaps, if I may. I would perhaps tone down the glow effect in front of the church, as the sun seems to be well below the horizon. Thanks for sharing!!

    Thanks Christian, always great.
    The when to denoise debate is interesting. I’ve done it at the start but I feel better doing it AFTER completing the global adjustments (exposure, shadows, clarity and contrast etc) but before masking and cleanup. Partly, the reason is it’s easier to see; but also I wonder about adding noise after using the tool.
    I don’t really know if it makes a difference but I feel more comfortable that way.

    • @ThePhlogPhotography
      @ThePhlogPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      What I noticed doing it at the very start: Lightroom will start to lag hard when doing adjustments sometimes, so that might be a reason to do denosing later on on weaker systems

    While masking, press the Alt key (presumably Option on a Mac) and this will turn add/subtract into an Intersect button, which I find easier than clicking the 3 dots (which are called an ellipsis). It is not actually very hidden.

    Thank you! Very informative. Will this be the best way to separate hair on the edge of the head and background? When I select the background, it's also selecting some of the hair.

    • @ThePhlogPhotography
      @ThePhlogPhotography  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, I dont think Lightroom can detect hair that good (but to be honest I also never tried that). You could try using the select subject mask then subtract a select subject mask (sounds strange but it works) and see if you get better results :-)

    Nice tips. I think you should have done more in the water though. The water is supposed to be a reflection of the sky, and it doesn't look like it matches. I would have warmed up the water and bumped up the contrast a bit.

    I was wondering about your sharpening technique. Why is this better then just using sharpening and mask sliders? What do you achieve by dropping the radius and raising the detail?

    • @ThePhlogPhotography
      @ThePhlogPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks a lot!
      In general it just gives better sharpening results (radius is just the radius around an edge that get sharpened, so smaller radius = finer sharpening)

    cooles Video vielen Dank :) ich bevorzuge dennoch PS in Kombination mit dem TK-actions panel - das was du hier zeigst ging dort schon vor 5 Jahren oder länger, das was heute das TK9 Panel kann ist LR schon wieder meilenweit voraus - ich finde zudem dass bei LR die Masken irgendwie so komisch versteckt sind, finde ich nicht symphytisch zu Arbeiten, die PS-Ebenen sind da wesentlich übersichtlicher, und auch einfacher zu handeln, egal ob eine Maske nochmals maskieren, oder wieder verwenden, oder Effekte verdoppeln etc. etc. - finde ich einfach angenehmer. außerdem ist finde ich die Luminanzmaske für Landschaft nach wie vor der King, und da bietet TK9 wesentlich bessere Anpassungsmöglichkeiten als LR. Wenn du es nicht kennst teste es aus

    • @ThePhlogPhotography
      @ThePhlogPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gebe dir da absolut recht, PS ist klar überlegen vor allem mit Plug Ins wie dem TK Panel. Mir macht es trotzdem immer wieder Spaß Photoshop Effekte und Masken in Lightroom nachzubauen (oder es zumindest zu versuchen :D )
