    I was a Boy Scout in my youth, once I was camping on an old destroyer warship in Quincy Mass. the USS Salem, it was nighttime, and we were walking around the ship, me and 3 other of my buddies saw a man walk out of the hallway Infront of us in the dark (while no one was on the ship besides our troop) he was wearing an old timer navy white outfit, he looked at us then walked right through the wall. we ran away almost crapping our pants. Come to find out there was an old door there that led to the engine room that was sealed shut, and we were far from the only people that have claimed to see something like that. This movie brought me back to that same situation. just thought I would share my story but I'm glad you loved the movie, as a fellow New Englander this movie hits home!!!

She was called in whenever the investigators suspected demons were involved. This is one of my favorite scary movies of all time. It's based on a true story but very loosely. They changed a lot to make it "scarier" and amp up the fear factor. What's wild about that though, is that I heard the actual family tell the story of what really happened and it is ten times scarier than what the movie showed. For example, the witch ghost was a woman they all saw the same way in their dreams, who had spiked wood hands like broken branches coming out the sleeves of her dress. That story still freaks me out. This movie is scary but I think they could've scared people even more if they stayed true to the original story.

    • @JustTanya.
      @JustTanya. 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It's because the Warren's didn't really have anything to do with it. According to the family, the Warrens made it worse but people wanted to hear about cases the Warren's experienced since Ed had already passed away and Lorraine was sick. I think she passed away a few years after The Conjuring 2 was release. I think The Conjuring 2 was better than this one though. There was more documentation from other sources for that case, plus it shows what Lorraine had seen in that scene of the exorcism of Maurice.

      @scapito 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@JustTanya. The whole levitating chair part happened, but it was upstairs, and during a seance. After that happened the father threw the Warren's out of the house. The real Bathsheeba didn't kill her son or unalive herself; they both lived into an old age... but Hollywood did get some of the pieces of the story correct, just not the main ones.

    • @JustTanya.
      @JustTanya. 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scapito Well, the chair didn't exactly levitate. From what the daughters and the husband saw, the chair that the mom was sitting in was shoved back and thrown down with her in it while they were doing the seance. She was hurt again and that's when the husband kicked the Warrens and their crew out. I've seen an episode of A Haunting with the Perrons telling what really happened. Andrea's book was a bit confusing because the timelines kept switching back and forth but it's crazy how little the Warrens had to do with this case. They did take a lot of liberties with this film. I think that why I prefer The Conjuring 2. There was already documentation about the Enfield haunting done before the Warrens went there. They were dealing with the Amityville House at that time. So, I guess because of that and the fact they called the Enfield house, Enfield's version of the Amityville house, the Warrens were suggested to go. They definitely did more investigating there than they did at The Conjuring house.

    This is absolutely based on a true story. I live about 20-30 mins away from the real Conjuring house in Harrisville, RI and about an hour away from the Warrens Museum in Monroe, CT. You can actually stay overnight in the Conjuring house, but personally I’d wait til they get new owners, IYKYK. The true story, as told by the Perron daughters, is that the Warrens investigated the house and did a seance. Then Mrs. Perron started acting odd, so Mr. Perron tried to throw them out of the house for fear for his wife. When Ed Warren protested, Mr. Perron punched Ed in the face and threw them out. The Perrons lived with the entity for years.I hope you continue with the series, cheers.

      No, its all BS. The Perrons made it up, just like the Lutz's made up the Amityville story. Everything the Warrens investigated that I know of has been debunked as fake and made up, and the movie studio took the fake stories and further exaggerated them. The Perrons, and the people who have owned the house in recent years to rent out to horror and paranormal fans for exorbitant rates are the only ones who've claimed anything supernatural has happened in that house. Other families that lived in the house for decades never reported anything unusual happening there. There was a Bathsheba who lived nearby, but she was never accused of witch craft in her life, didn't hang herself and had not conflict with the family that lived there. Basically the Perron's researched the area, came up with a story, and then lied about a real woman who's been dead for over a 100 years. Sad, but it made them money.

    The "foot-tugging" scene in The Conjuring always reminds me of the time I stayed at a friend's house for a while when I was in high school and slept on the floor of his room. The family and friends had talked about the house being haunted and they all had stories about things they'd seen but I never saw any of that and didn't believe in ghosts anyway. Then I woke up one morning to what felt like someone tugging on the sleeve of my sweatshirt. I opened my eyes and (1) I wasn't wearing a sweatshirt, I was wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt (but could still feel the feeling of a "sleeve" being pulled over my hand), and (2) I saw and felt my arm being pulled toward the closet. I still had a bit of sleep-paralysis happening so I had to fight super hard to pull my arm back but, once I did, I immediately jumped up and vacated the room (confirming that I actually was awake and, if it was a dream, I don't know what moment I actually moved from dreaming to sleep because it was seamless).
    This and variations of this happened a couple of times in that house/room, including once where I woke up in the morning before everyone else was up. My friend was still asleep in his bed, so I quietly walked across the room to grab some clothes from my duffel bag. As I walked by his big mirror above his dresser, I looked over at it and didn't see myself in the mirror at all. There was just the reflection of the room. Then I turned and saw my body still sleeping on the floor. It freaked me out and, in that moment of fright and confusion, I immediately felt my body get spun around and fall backwards (in what felt like slo-mo) onto my sleeping body and, as soon as I landed, my eyes opened and I sat up, awake. Now unquestionably awake, I noticed that it was the exact same time of early morning with the light coming through the window exactly the same way, my friend was asleep in his bed just as I'd seen him, etc.
    I'm not saying those were supernatural occurrences. I still don't really believe in ghosts or anything. BUT those were definitely weird experiences that the foot-pulling scene in "The Conjuring" and any horror movie with people being pulled toward a closet or armoire remind me of. And though I don't really believe in out of body stuff, because of that incident I can't exactly dismiss it 100% either. It felt SUPER real.
    Fwiw, I assume the weird "out of body" mirror one was actually a dream, though I will point out that I never have dreams where the location looks exactly like it does IRL and everything looks and feels real like it did in that one. My dreams are always wacky, with people and locations that are weird mish-mashes of multiple people and places, and there are bizarre, illogical, often complicated storylines going on that don't make any narrative sense together once I wake up. So, having a dream where the room looks exactly like it does IRL, the time of day is exactly the time of day that I "woke up" into, and everything seeming totally normal except either part of my body is being tugged toward a closet or I'm out of the body and can't see myself in the mirror is super out of the ordinary for me.
    I chalk up the "arm tugging" experience to a sleep paralysis induced half-dream state (the same way some people see a "crone" or other weird face), though it's worth noting that I've never experienced anything like that before or since being in that house. I've woken up to sleep paralysis MAYBE a couple of times over the decades but there was never anything dream-like attached to it. Just the inability to move for a minute.
    Actually, that's not true. There was one other time and it was semi-recently (though I try not to think too much about it). I had my first sleep paralysis moment in probably 20 years less than a year ago. It was the day my mom died. She lived just a few apartments away from me, having just moved here from another state to be closer to family. I woke up to what felt exactly like the weight and movement of a cat jumping onto the bed and walking slowly up the comforter next to my body (a feeling I'm super familiar with, having been married to a vet tech and fostering many animals over the years, despite not having any pets now). I tried to move but couldn't, but I could hear what sounded like a whispery voice echoing a word that sounded like "me-oh" over and over again. Not "meow" like a cat, not the sound of a cat meowing, but a human voice echoing "me-oh" over and over and getting louder, like a sound sample being put through a delay pedal and then feeding back on itself. I fought to move my body, finally broke the sleep paralysis, managed to slap my hand at the spot where it felt like "the cat" was, and said, "No... go away." Then it stopped and I was fully awake.
    That afternoon, I called my mom and she didn't answer her phone. I figured she was asleep, so left a message. She didn't return it after a few hours, which was weird for her (she pretty much always called me back within a few minutes and certainly no more than an hour or so later). I kept calling and she kept not answering, but I just assumed she was probably sleeping. Then, when she still hadn't called back late that night, I went over to her apartment, and she didn't answer her door. I went and checked the parking lot and saw her car was there, so I knew she was home. Once the landlords got back into their office, I got them to let me into her apartment and found her dead on the floor next to her bed.
    Again, the rational part of my brain assumes this was just a sleep paralysis thing and some sort of coincidental timing but I have to admit that it does make me think back on stories my mom had told me about family members being visited by spouses and siblings just after they died. I never bought into it but my mom was really into that stuff. Her favorite story was about her grandfather waking up the night after his wife died when he felt someone sit on the bed. When he looked, his wife was sitting there, smiling, and told him she'd come back to see him one more time before he passed. Less than a year later, he dropped dead in his driveway and they said he was dead before he hit the ground. Did his wife come back that one last time to take him with her? Idk, but my mom loved telling that story and the feeling of something jumping onto my bed and moving up my mattress at roughly the same time my mom died does make me think back to that story and wonder.

I think I just saw even more joy on her face when she was watching Jay get freaked out during parts of this movie.😂 And just when she was enjoying being scared.
    Also, I ran across a clip of Joey King (she played the daughter who’s foot kept getting jerked) talking in an interview with Howard Stern about making this movie when she was 12, and how she developed a strange blood platelet disorder that gave her bruises just like the mother character. The makeup artists on set thought she’d snuck around and used their makeup to make fake bruises on herself. She had to go to the hospital every day for iron treatments. But then as soon as she was done filming and returned home the blood disorder completely went away. She hasn’t had any problems with it since.

    great reaction. this is one of my favorite movies. this movie was so good in that it had a lot of different things going on. the doll, the family and her past. so you never really know what the main part of the story that the movie is about. this is how you make a great horror movie and just a great way to tell a story and keep your audience interested and confused at the same time.

    Also, as long as I'm triple posting? I might as well horrorsplain to the husband.
    People get hooked on scary movies for the exact same reason that they get hooked on roller coasters. The first time you're about to take the big drop as a young'un? You objectively don't want to. Most people only force themselves in order to save face in front of their parents/siblings/friends/whathaveyou. Because why would you voluntarily choose to drop 100 feet straight down?
    Well, because, under those specific circumstances? It's 100% safe, and you know it. So once you get acclimated to the nervousness that precedes the adrenaline spike? You kinda stop noticing everything except the adrenaline spike. It becomes a high you chase. Ipso facto? Spirit Halloween.
    There ya go, you're welcome.

      I agree. I am unashamedly scared heights. However, the US Navy MADE me jump out of perfectly good aircraft, including HALO jumps. In my service I had 58 training and combat jumps. No joke. However, I hope that I never have to do it again. But I was a bit of an adrenaline junkie while I was in.

      I'm sure it helps having drill instructors to yell at you if you hesitate as an adult on your first few jumps too. lol

      @@ephraimwinslow yell at me... no, I got his size 9 boot in my backside. That's the truth!!! I almost washed out, and then when we started jumping out of the the C-130's I figured it out, I started closing my eyes and just ran until I ran out of real estate. And for the most part, that's what I did for the rest of my service, about 5 1/2 years. Though you're probably going to laugh, I figured out that I had no problem with night jumps. It makes no sense, I know. Most guys it was the opposite, they were terrified of jumping into the dark. I looked at it this way. If I couldn't see the ground, I had nothing to be afraid of. I still make the joke about how I'm not afraid of heights, I'm not even afraid of falling, I'm afraid of the sudden stop at the bottom!!! I loved freefall, absolutely loved it!!! I felt like Superman, like I was flying. Even though I was actually more like Buzz Lightyear, just falling with style. Shortly after we got back from the Persian Gulf War, I had a devastating knee injury end my Naval career. No hard feelings... any more.

    You gotta watch the 2nd one to find out what Lorraine saw that freaked her out so much. The 2nd one is also the tie in for the Nun movies. Was every bit as scary as the first one. Loved it!

    I have to say I was shocked to see u were doing this great horror. My first thought was poor J, lol. I really proud of u, u both did so good. Ed and Lorraine Warren were legit, very popular, very educated and gifted. Met them in the late 90s when I was with scientific paranormal investigaters. Sweet, very respected, very smart and brave people. Trusted by the church, the police, the government, and scientists. This story, The Amityville Horror story and Annibelle were all true events they were involved with and many more. Thanx so much, take care of each other, Peace

    My grandafather who passed away in 1995, introduced me to see Sematary and It movie at age 4 or 5 as well! I remembered he made me love scary movies bc I told him how scared I was and he was like you don't have anything to worry and comforted me and made me see scary movies in a different light and appreciate them. He loved American cinema even though we were living in Mexico

    Ed and Loraine are the "Ghost hunters" (For lack of a better term) who were also the ones who investigated the Amityville House. (That is touched on in "The Conjuring 2")

    Hey, guys! Just found the channel and I’m loving the vibes. The Conjuring is one of my favorite horror movies (definitely top 5) and I like how you guys are engaged and not trying to be loud or too funny. Just genuinely into the movie and that’s what I like in my movie reactors. Keep it up!
