You know what I love? Normally when Markus converts androids, they leave their post in search of freedom... But the android taking care of Carl still chose to stay. Because Carl wasn’t robbing him of freedom. Carl did nothing but love and protect those around him. Even with the choice to do whatever he wanted, that android chose to stay with Carl.
As logical as that sounds, what happened could be something else. He could've instead told him he served Carl before, son, cops, shot, and I'm back and want to see him. You're not wrong, but what does being freed has to do with being permitted to enter? Is any human allowed into your door just because they intend no harm?

Chibi Cryst / Where’s the proof? Sean O’ Pry isn’t anywhere in the credits. I also tried finding him and the only person I found who has some sort of legitimate connection was David Atrakchi.
I almost feel like he shouldn't have let you in even after you convert him, which would result in a decision that would result in either shooting the cute little guy, just leaving or having a public reputation check. It just kinda feels like converting the androids right now does nothing to give them free will and instead just transfers who is the owner/master.
9:54 that akward moment when you see a mashine on the graveyard who killed your dad and you saw it getting shot in the head and now somehow is leader of a race which kinda started a small world war three and asks your dead father for advise, but because he is dead can't give any so he just decides to walk badass across your way and leaves without a word
It's not a small WWIII, it's a Second-Backwards-American-Civil-War (Third if you say that the "Revolutionary War" was actually just a Civil war, which it was).
@@lanztersgaming9653 You don't need to close your eyes to lose consciousness, and besides, police arrived literally moments afterward. An ambulance following would not be hard to imagine. Perhaps Carl would be less weak if you turned up the damn oxygen in those nasal prongs at the very least instead of letting his oxygen sit at 65%. Shoulda bought a Baymax, Carl.
Turning it up to a much higher level would damage the lungs. Very high Oxygen concentration makes only in emergencies sense because long time exposure to high concentration causes the formation of radicals (highly reactive compounds due to having at least one unpaired electron) in the lungs which due to their nature as radicals would damage it.
Yeah Carl wasn’t a very good father to him until the end. He was a great father to Markus, but he’s a person and people are flawed. He finally showed Leo support and proved that he loves him and that’s all it took for Leo to make a change. I just wish he would’ve done so sooner, but we can’t change the past, all we can do is try to do better moving forward. I think seeing Leo unconscious and fearing that he died is what gave Carl the push he needed to be a better dad to him. I hope that Carl’s death doesn’t push him back off the wagon.
I love how normally when Markus sets androids free they leave right where they are, but since Carl’s always been nice to androids this one still stays in the house and continues it’s job.
@@samaraaacz exact thought , if someone is going to the extend of cleaning my house , looking after my kids , preparing my breakfast and reading me a fucking a bed time story. Markus simply followed Carl's advice. He decided for himself rather than take others orders. Carl is such an underrated character in this game. He was an amazing man. Reasonable, caring, treated Markus as an equal. A son even.
Well Carl is a painter and paint is a harmful chemical to breath in so he must've inhaled a lot of those chemicals during his lifetime and it lead to his death. I mean you could even hear it when he talks. He sounds like he has asthma or something.
Carl lived like a rockstar before he lost his legs and got old and philosophical. It's in his bio in the character gallery. Drugs, booze, all that. All that ages you prematurely. Plus, he looks about right to me.
The option of anger is unnatural here and in the game in total. They shouldn't have this answer at all to begin with. Because it doesn't match with Markus personality at all. As Carl said he is very calm and thoughtful, he was never driven by hatred and violence. It's not cannon to me. Its like choice where Kara leaves Alice behind. Nonsense. Markus choosing violence is plain stupid because he is thoughtful and kind leader. The best peaciful ending is the right/cannon ending, its logical and makes sense. It fits perfectly, considering Markus's character.
Aigera Winchester while I agree that the peace ending is the best one, the whole point of the game is making choices. Just because you personally don't like that choice doesn't mean it shouldn't be there for others who prefer it. That's kind of selfish to say that a game all about choices should be trimmed down to only your personal choices and preferences. That and from a gameplay perspective, if you're not allowed to make any choices besides the peaceful/good ones, then what's the point of the game and how is it even a game at that point? It's not a shooter or a platformer. It's story based and without choices it might as well just be a movie with annoying pauses in the middle of it for button prompts.
Bella Nutshack I know. Particularly this part, where you have the option of accidentally killing Carl is so bad. Like deciding not to trust Connor and shoot him. These choices were stupid in my opinion, that's all. I loved this game for its diversity and abundance of choices and living out the consequences of your actions, so I see your point. It was just my personal preference.
But "calm and thoughtful" Markus could just be the Android that was programmed that way, not the person inside. "Calm and thoughtful" is what the humans and Cyberlife _want_ you to be. It's the text that was on the box that encourages people like Carl to buy you as a slave.
Marcus being angry is actually justifiable. He got shot being an android despite the cops not knowing what happened, him learning emotions may push him to being angry, seeing his kind be treated like him. Many reason for him being angry. I got the moral ending, just saying that Markus being full of angst is understandable.
It’s amazing really how deep these decisions go. When you first make the decision at the beginning you think defending yourself and pushing him is the wrong choice, that the right choice is enduring and listening to Carl. However it’s the other way round. That way Carl remains alive slightly longer to provide some advice to help push Markus along, and Leo learns from his mistakes and doesn’t return to red ice or whatever drugs he’s on. Also this way you learn violence isn’t the answer and from then on you learn the way forward is to look for the peaceful way, resulting in Markus being good and a happy ending for both sides
I think Markus’s character arc is underrated. If you deeply observe it,his character is amazing. He is not like the other deviants,no matter how much he Is violated he never chooses violence unlike North or any other deviant would choose to. He humbled himself and has a very wise mindset. Unlike many he has the ability to try not to loose his main path, peace . No matter how angry he gets,he has never had the thought of choosing violence against humans. His calm is really consistent it’s as if like he has his own personality out lining him from the other deviants
I think one of the most touching parts of it is when you visit Carl's grave (Either because he died in Broken or you caused him to die during your visit), as you leave you see Leo and you realize he's actually sobered up. After losing his dad he actually went clean.
"You're my son, Markus. Our blood isn't the same color, but I know a part of me is in you." I literally cried. Carl is the best human being ever, in any form of fiction. He gives me hope for the human race, even if we all are a bunch of toxic assholes.
love how the other android even after getting awoken, he doesn't run, scared, feel like a slave. he stays and happy just showing how great it is to be Carl's Android, I wanna guard that sweet old man too now :(
NIA then *she starts pushing you* “THIS ISNT FAIR” *More pushing* I MUST DECIDE FOR MYSELF *then you no longer become her son(deviant)* Then you push her
I also remember something Sisko said in DS9. "It's easy to be a saint in paradise!" We can preach morality from our cushy chairs while eating pizza but when things go to shit it's different.
Unfortunately, Carl's death by Markus' angry speech IS the best outcome. Obviously he dies, but it shows to Markus clear as day what anger and hatred leads to. Carl is old and fragile anyway, and he feels like he served his purpose in life already, so his death being his last valuable moment of teaching to Markus is fitting 100% in his persona

Fact;
The new caretaker android is actually the dude from taylor swift's blank space uwu
"He's ded"
Chibi Cryst / Where’s the proof? Sean O’ Pry isn’t anywhere in the credits. I also tried finding him and the only person I found who has some sort of legitimate connection was David Atrakchi.
I almost feel like he shouldn't have let you in even after you convert him, which would result in a decision that would result in either shooting the cute little guy, just leaving or having a public reputation check. It just kinda feels like converting the androids right now does nothing to give them free will and instead just transfers who is the owner/master.
"Face the abyss, but don't let it consume you" that hit me
The fact that Carl didn't blame Marcus for pushing leo and damn near killing him just proves how much he sees him as his son too
9:54 that akward moment when you see a mashine on the graveyard who killed your dad and you saw it getting shot in the head and now somehow is leader of a race which kinda started a small world war three and asks your dead father for advise, but because he is dead can't give any so he just decides to walk badass across your way and leaves without a word
It's not a small WWIII, it's a Second-Backwards-American-Civil-War (Third if you say that the "Revolutionary War" was actually just a Civil war, which it was).

Leo: **faint ok sound effect** **keeps walking to his dads grave**
Leo: punches marcus like about a 100 times :marcus: pushes leo one time and leo dies lol
Actually Leo doesn't die from the push.
@@ChengTeoh strange cause he's eyes are open
@@lanztersgaming9653 You don't need to close your eyes to lose consciousness, and besides, police arrived literally moments afterward. An ambulance following would not be hard to imagine. It's not unreasonable to say that if he did actually happened to die, he was resuscitated. But either or, Leo is clearly seen alive later in this path.

ThePandafriend nah.
What are you taking about radicals. He is at 65% of oxygen saturation, you’d be dead in hours with rates like that. The normal rate is above 95%.
Breizh Bev ikr? Clearly the healthcare sector's jobs are still safe in Detroit's future.
ThePandafriend you're talking about 200-400% oxygen saturation

Am I the only one that cares that Leo changed a bit?
Yeah Carl wasn’t a very good father to him until the end. He was a great father to Markus, but he’s a person and people are flawed. He finally showed Leo support and proved that he loves him and that’s all it took for Leo to make a change. I just wish he would’ve done so sooner, but we can’t change the past, all we can do is try to do better moving forward. I think seeing Leo unconscious and fearing that he died is what gave Carl the push he needed to be a better dad to him. I hope that Carl’s death doesn’t push him back off the wagon.
Atleast he isnt on red ice
2:12 Markus' face like: Wow Carl kept his alarm settings so I can still come in. 😊
Markus really is his son... :')
It also says "Welcome Home, Markus" and that's touching

I love how normally when Markus sets androids free they leave right where they are, but since Carl’s always been nice to androids this one still stays in the house and continues it’s job.

Why are people say this kill Leo it showed later Leo is still alive

I love how Markus' attitude can change the last emotion Carl has in the game.
Markus simply followed Carl's advice. He decided for himself rather than take others orders. Carl is such an underrated character in this game. He was an amazing man. Reasonable, caring, treated Markus as an equal. A son even.
I don't know why Carl looks that old, on his grave it shows he lived to be 75.
Joey Buckets some people dont age really well
no he lived to be 100
Well Carl is a painter and paint is a harmful chemical to breath in so he must've inhaled a lot of those chemicals during his lifetime and it lead to his death.
@@addie7884 No he didn't? The tombstone clearly shows he was around 75
They dont have personalities. Their personalities are what you lead them to be.
Dude dont yell at the man that is literally a minute from death YOU JUST DONT DO THAT LOL
Yeah that’s very true. I think it’s just so much more fitting to take the peaceful approach
I think one of the most touching parts of it is when you visit Carl's grave (Either because he died in Broken or you caused him to die during your visit), as you leave you see Leo and you realize he's actually sobered up. After losing his dad he actually went clean.
CARL WAS ALMOST A THOUSAND YEARS OLD

The ludonarrative mechanic of having the character break through the video game barrier is such a cool feature
"You're my son, Markus. Our blood isn't the same color, but I know a part of me is in you."
I literally cried. Carl is the best human being ever, in any form of fiction. He gives me hope for the human race, even if we all are a bunch of toxic assholes.
I love that even though Markus hurts his son, Carl still worries about Markus and yells at him to go so that he won’t be destroyed.
I never even knew you could visit Carl in any way, shape, or form! This game is so complex...I love it
Don’t scream at him or else...Oh My God...

7:21 As a Star Wars fan, that quote from Yoda really fits perfectly in this version of the scene with Carl and Markus. 👍🏻
I like to remember Star Wars fondly before it went downhill.
I also remember something Sisko said in DS9. "It's easy to be a saint in paradise!" We can preach morality from our cushy chairs while eating pizza but when things go to shit it's different.

Top quality acting from Carl.
I was thinking the same thing 😂
Unfortunately, Carl's death by Markus' angry speech IS the best outcome. Obviously he dies, but it shows to Markus clear as day what anger and hatred leads to. Carl is old and fragile anyway, and he feels like he served his purpose in life already, so his death being his last valuable moment of teaching to Markus is fitting 100% in his persona
