    Beautiful use of CGI animation to help make it easier to follow the order of directions or to direct our focus to the subject at hand.

    Absolutely terrific video, to the point, well illustrated... I often have to read rules after watching how to play. Not this time, I feel fully equipped to start

    I was thinking to myself: "wow, the production level on this video is above and beyond what I usually see from game reviews / tutorials on YT" - then I realized it was made by the publisher xD
    Still amazing though!

    Looks fantastic Brandt! I can't wait to play it. There are enough mechanics that it seems very re-playable. Art is beautiful, but that is no surprise. Congratulations on making this happen! Proud of you.

    But what is the "reason" behind Followers being on the Map and teleporting to wherever the Player Mat is?

  • @SwedishWookie
    @SwedishWookie ปีที่แล้ว

    My only question/thought is if it's hard sometimes to keep track of how many actions you've taken on your turn out of the 3, as it seems some of them can cascade quite a bit :P

  • @jjjameson3379
    @jjjameson3379 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @8:27 A question regarding the "Journey" Action : Can a Follower wrap-around as Tiles do? Considering that the Board is a Sphere.
    Also, curious about the in-game meaning of placing a Follower on the "Journey" Action of the Player Board, and THEN moving another Follower (instead of sending that one onto the Map). Is it one of those cases where "it works that way to not run out of Followers on the Player Board" or because it also makes logical sense within this world?
    Beautiful game, btw.

    • @aescgames
      @aescgames  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Re: Journeying from one side of the map to the other - Yes! Tiles on one side of the map are connected to those on the opposite side. So, as long as the land edges of the tiles are oriented in a way that connect one side with the other, a follower could journey off one side of the map to re-enter on the other side.
      Re: Taking the "Journey followers" action - As with taking any action in the game, a follower must be assigned to the action space. The journey action only allows followers to "journey" that is, move around the board. It does not allow followers to enter or exit the map. The "Send to, or return from study" action is used to get more followers on the map or return them back to your player mat. In either case, it's imperative that a follower is always used to take the action on the player mat. Due to this limitation, there will always be at least one follower on your player mat. So, in a way it solves the issue of not having followers on the player mat to take actions. But more importantly, it limits the use of action spaces so the same space cannot be reused over and over in a row, which is essential for the mechanic balance of the game. It also makes thematic sense, where followers on the mat are assigned to enact actions while other followers are sent off to study in sacred sites or with their Demigod, to then return with the wisdom of their studies, making the available actions more powerful, useful, and valuable. So while one is "working" another is "studying", while yet another might be "journeying" or "building". Each has its own assignment within the the tribe, working collectively to acquire the most knowledge.

    great tutorial! Just one question. The build a sacred site action, can it have multiple followers on it or is it limited to one?

    • @aescgames
      @aescgames  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just one! Each action space can only have one follower at a time. The reason it’s so big is because it relates to all the columns above it. :)

    Since the map wraps around from edge to edge, can lava flows pass from one side of the board to the other, assuming the tiles are oriented in a way that would allow it if they were directly next to each other?

    • @aescgames
      @aescgames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Anything (tiles, lava, followers) can go off one side and pop right back in on the other.

    Looks great! Using the BGG Complexity scale as a reference, what weight would you say the game is ? Looks like a 3 to low 3 to me.

    • @aescgames
      @aescgames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think 3 is pretty accurate to the complexity. The mechanics are fairly straight forward. The complexity really comes in with discovering all the things you can do with the actions and learning how to take advantage each one.

    Does shift row mean actually only being able to shift a row or can you shift any row or column? As in, does it matter where I sit relative to the board? (Like the game Roam)

    • @aescgames
      @aescgames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Oros, rows and columns are the same, so they are collectively called “rows.” The only time orientation is used is when playing with an automa. In that case the automa always shifts rows as shown on the card based on the orientation of the automa player mat.

    • @eimwolliballa
      @eimwolliballa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aescgames So when I play solo, meaning 2 automa, I have to place the automa mats around the board, which means running around the table all the time? I cannot place the automa mats and my own mat side by side? Seems impractical and very confusing to me.
      Did I miss something?

    • @aescgames
      @aescgames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eimwolliballa Oh dear, no! It's set up like that in Tabletopia for convenience within the digital space. When playing on a table I usually just set them up in a row right in front of me, or off to the side, but still facing me. There's no reason to have to stand up and walk around the table. :)

    • @eimwolliballa

      @@aescgames But when you sit them up in a row in front of you the row shifted by the automa is another one than the automa would shift when it would sit on the other side of the board? Did I get that right?
