    Cool little knife !
I would definitely try spraying some WD-40 between the springs, let it set a bit... maybe warm it up some with a hair dryer... and shape a small wire paper clip end with a slightly bent end to see if you can dig out any gunk... even soak it in some warm water with all the blades open... an ultrasound cleaner with warm water and a little Dawn detergent might also work... keep us posted on your progress !

Good luck with that blade. My bet is you might need to go full on surgical My bet is the spring has been damaged in some way. Definitely a cool knife that is worth saving if possible.

I think so too. I’ll save it one way or another. Thanks.

I watched it, and saw it before this video. I would think there is dirt stuck between the spring slot. I never saw a spring change shape it would break instead. It might have enough build up dirt and crud around the blade joint too. I would soak it in mineral oil and work the joints before forcing the blade shut in the hopes that might work.🤔🙂

I’ve had a lot of these style of knives and the old spring steel was still pretty malleable. They’ll break if you for instance force one open while another tool on the same spring is partly open. I had another one that would basically just stand up at 90 on it’s own after closing it. That’s been my experience anyway. I always tell people to take care when opening them up for the “centerfold spread” as that is often when they break, when opening the first blade while the second is at 45 degrees. Basically anywhere except zero,180, and sometimes 90 is putting the spring under maximum tension so opening the second tool is too much. Especially on older knives when steel QC was not quite what it is today.

Where is your 2018 SAK - Sportsman- White Christmas edition with the Christmas Tree on it. Your 84 mm collection has to have one in it.
