    How much did you pay for the 300cc one? I just found a really nice 2010 model for $3,400. Just wondering if it's over priced .

    I had a Red 250 Johnny Pag chopper, and sold it for the same price I purchase it for…! I Believe I had it for a couple years….!
    It was a great looking motorcycle but it was really hard to get it up to 50 miles an hour….! And I had five other motorcycles at the same time, so something had to go ….! , but they were very cool looking motorcycle….!

      Check for spark change the plugs and clean the carburetor.

    • @jeffhale2278
      @jeffhale2278 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can purchase a cheap spark tester at the auto parts store. It plugs in between the spark plug and the plug wire. Or, if you're brave, stick something round and metal ( like a Phillips screwdriver) into the plug wire boot, and hold the screwdriver about 1/8 to 1/4 inch from a good ground, like bare metal, while someone cranks the engine. If the ignition is good, you'll see a blue spark jump from the screwdriver to the ground. It helps to do this is a low-light area, not out in the sun. If there's no spark, the problem is likely the ignition system. Check the coil next. This gets a little more involved. Make sure both leads (small wires) are connected and tight. Use an inexpensive test light to verify you're getting power to the coil when the switch is on. To check the ground (the other wire), connect one end of your test light to the ground wire, and the other end to the battery. If the ground is good, the light will come on. If not, follow the ground wire and make sure it is connected tightly to the frame or battery, as the case may be. (I've never worked on a JP, I'm unfamiliar with the specifics. These are generic tests.) The next step is to check the coil itself. This requires a multi-meter, and someone who knows what the resistance should be. Or take the coil off (2 bolts?), and have your local bike shop test it.
      If you DO have spark, try a shot of starting fluid in the carbs. Remove the air cleaner / filter, if equipped, open the choke, if it has one, and put about a 2 seconds shot of starting fluid in each carb. Immediately hold the throttle 1/4 to 1/2 open, and crank it. If it starts, then dies, it's likely a fuel problem. At least you'll know the cylinders / compression is okay. Start by draining the tank, lines, and float bowls, then add fresh gas. Let me know how it goes.
      From the symptoms you described, it sounds like the coil was getting weak, or one of the wires is not making a good connection. My Sportster was stuttering, cutting out at high rpm/ full throttle, and you wouldn't believe some of the shade tree diagnoses I heard. It turned out to be the ground wire on the coil was loose. A squeeze with the pliers, and plug it back on fixed it. That was a lot cheaper than a trip to the Harley shop.

    • @jeffhale2278
      @jeffhale2278 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If these tests don't give you a spark, you'll either have to find someone familiar with these engines' ignition system, like your local bike shop, or get a shop manual (if they're available) and a few basic tools, like a volt meter/ multi-meter. I purchased a shop manual for my Sportster at our local dealer. It set me back $75, but it has saved me hundreds over the years by allowing me to do a lot of maintenance and repairs myself.
