It's like an anime fighting scene ... red vs blue, left hand vs right hand, absolute silence vs absolute noise.
Their now 1 to 1 on the head to head rankings. This win goes to harimoto and the other win is for Lin in T league which was 3-0. Even though harimoto won this, I think he's not performing well here. He seems to be slower compared to lin and also made more mistakes this match. And there's so many times in this match that Lin could've made it 3-0, getting game points in both the second and 3rd set but could not convert. Lin even managed to comeback 1-3 down. But of course, harimoto plays more on the world tour and deals better with pressure, although Lin is also mentally calm but still there will be nerves. This match was before the T league one where Lin won. Lin also started to beat more top players and his feats are more convincing .IMO he's already stronger than harimoto. Even if he isn't yet, he will be within this year. I want to see another match between them.

@@w1z4rd9 i feel like there's nothing for him to scream after getting a winning point. It's not against the rules. People said it was disrespectful but for me it is not. My coach even said that we need to scream after getting a winning point so that we could build our confidence. Plus it could prevent the player from nervous. It helps in different way for different people. People need to see in different perspectives not because of the rules or how annoying it is to us.
This Japanese player is like a beast.

I guess he received his training in his motherland and learned all the so-called tactics against his opponents. I had never seen any Japanese players behave like this before I watched this game.

Btw he is not welcomed to train in China at all due to his on court manner and the impolite attitude against Chinese players. Hope the info doesn’t make you too disappointed that China hasn’t contributed to his annoying manner.

Although Harimoto has a spectacular style, yelling so loud after every point he wins is unbearable. He is like Sharapova of table tennis. So annoying.

Lin’s technique is prettier to look at but not better, Hari’s technique could be more superior because it’s simplified to the max, think of this as martial arts then you’ll know the more simplicity of the technique the more effective it is.
A lefty who can't hit a forehand to save his life and tries to return everything with his backhand flip,is a useless lefty.His technique is nowhere near Hari's.At best he will plateau as a Lin Gaoyuan copycat.That's a copycat of a second tier player who won't even be relevant in 3 years' time.

It’s like mind games. If a person is talking trash/screaming after every point of course you want them to shut up. So you trying harder and harder. The harder you try the more mistakes you make. That’s the reason why he is doing it and also helps you calm down after every point.

You underestimate Harimoto. He already won the Tsjech open, Japan open and World Tour Grand Finals. He also won against Ma, Fan, Lin, Liang, and Zhang.

Not many people said anything about the match itself and what Harimoto had was fighting spirit while Lin Yun-Ju had his own playing style...I support!
That's just dumb. You're not breaking any rules by not apologizing for net/edge balls either. But you still do it because it's common courtesy and good sportsmanship. Same goes for the screaming, there are no rules against it but it obviously brings the opponent down, which is why few notorious players scream really loud against Harimoto. There's no excuse for bad behaviour.

And how do you know that? How'd you explain the taunting and agressive face that he made at the end of the match with Lin Gaoyuan at T2 Diamond? Was that also not to bring the opponent down? How'd you explain Sun Wen's statement where he said it was his plan to scream louder than him? Why do you think it was his plan if screaming doesn't do anything to the other player? Why is his performance always bad against players who scream as loud as him (Sun Wen, An Jae Hyun, Mattias Falck, Cristian Pletea) if scream doesn't have any affect on the other players? If even the pro players, who spent better part of their lives practicing the sport think that screaming is a good idea, then do you really think that a normal person like you should be saying otherwise?

That's not the point. I just wanted to point out that his behaviour is wrong, that's it.
Plus, you know it takes minimum 2 players to play table tennis, right? If I stop watching him, I'll also miss out on watching his opponent. Why would I do that? There are a LOT of players whom I love watching. Would I ever stop watching or admiring them just because they're playing against Harimoto? Nope.

as someone who has played competitively this sport, having your opponent scream after each stupid point this much, it is tough not to let this get to you eventually. Harimoto might become the best player on the planet (the talent is certainly there) but unless he learns how to not do this, he will always be a divisive character....the spectators rightly understand that the screaming is problematic. How did his trainers not teach him better? (i dont get this...it also consumes so much energy of him)
I know it is a little annoying but we also have to understand that he is just very excited about the game.

Usually table tennis matches are held parallely one beside other table. So harimoto screaming might hav affected lot of other players playing in other tables which is so unhealthy for sport.
Had to stop watching at 4:19. Harimoto is just too annoying to watch/listen to...

卓球の試合たくさん見たけど、他の選手も声を張って自分を鼓舞するけど、ここまで大声でうるさいのは張本だけだ。日本の選手だから贔屓したい気持ちはわかるけど、相手にしてほしくないことを自分がしてどうする？
それに、相手のミスで得点した時もことごとく叫んでやがる。リスペクトがなさすぎる。相手のミスで自分の鼓舞するかふつう？
ちなみに、他の選手が叫ぶときは大体「はっ」だけど、張本は「はぁぁぁぁぁぁ」だからな、全然「適当に」じゃないだろ。
If I was playing against someone who constantly screams like this during the game, it would be really irritating for me so I couldn't even focus. Maybe it would be good to change some rules about it. I am not a hater of Harimoto, he is obviously one of the biggest talents now, and he deserved the win, but I am just saying it could be unfair to be distracted just because your opponent behaves like this.

X X I actually agree with you. Harimoto's style is just based on consistent blocking and counter attacking after his opponent slows down the ball. In this match, LYJ showed no signs of slowing down and is getting faster and more powerful and spin on his strokes as the rally goes on. He also changes the placement well and harimoto was always OK the backfoot. The credits should be given to LYJ because he played better here today. Everything he did was better than harimoto here except for consistency and mental game. LYJ is the underdog here but he certainly does not play like one
