A new found friend.....Butternote Music! Yes!....you can come outa the gate with some crazy stuff......it's all in the heart, brother. Great tips. especially at the end.
I consider myself an intermediate improviser. I've roughly the same level on guitar/harmonica/bass. In my mind when I'm improvising, usually by default I'm so worried NOT to repeat frases in order NOT to sound boring and paradoxically this mentality robs that "hook", that "character" from my solos. So much one can learn isn't it. I needed this leason. Definitely resonates brother.
Excellent points, info, and ideas to work on Jason! The Motif,.. huh .. lol .. something I've been doing, and gradually adding more notes, licks and phrases as it progresses for a long time "because it sounds good" .. But that was all I knew LoL! I never knew what it was called in music theory, the actual concept, & significance of a motif until this video! Even though I do itt all the time! Ha! 👍 Most music is predictable enough, especially Blues, that once you have your motif, you know where you're at, and what the band is doing next, the chord changes, etc... So you're free to mainly think about improvising what to add, how much, and how to phrase additional notes around the motif .. Very cool! For only being the tip of the iceberg, you covered a good bit of ground with some really important points you made very well, and easily understood .. Which is everybit as important.. I know there's waaaaay more, but just what you did today should get folks off & running who might be having some trouble with this! I know it helped me in many ways, as well as reaffirming what I did, & do often, on top of other useful ideas to think about & practice! Another great, well done tutorial video!! Thanks again J. 🙏 I really appreciate it, and all that you do man! 🎶😎
