I remember talking to Curtis when I was just learning about how cool it was to listen to horn players like Lester Young, and the great Slide Trombone player from New Orleans Jack Teagarden learn from those guys as well as harp players trying to put some of their horn sound those soulful notes, and lines into our harp.
Thank you for nlesdomv us with your juicy wisdom even when you're exhausted.... who Dat? You Dat blues harp master teacher student reacher all day long! 💯👍
wow! can't Thank You enough Brother. all things considered, seeing how tired you are being on the road and all and still there for us. got nothing but the deepest Love, Gratitude and respect for You Brother. Thank You...
Thanks for the lesson…in commitment! All those who play harmonica and wait for these weekly free lessons …and get them regardless of your situation, should step up and donate to your other venue!
As always, thank you again mi hermano El grande gato! Even though I'm unable to play bass or guitar fluently any more I do still have a student now and then and I'm always preaching "speed follows accuracy" and I've realized over your last couple of videos I haven't been following my own rule with the harp (I've been a hypocrite IOW) and I've vastly improved from a harp listener to a proud harp owner thanks to you brother
I aspire to being able to play the blues like you did in this lesson, Jason. You sound amazing, and this was a fantastic lesson. Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
Great to see you out like Willie Nelson, "On the Road Again" :) Moon Cat gotta be a Road Dawg to keep those harps unclogged! LOL!! Stay safe, happy and sane on the road!
Speahles , I've been following you for awhile now .live post but allso here on TH-cam.,I Knew straight away I pretty much I would have to commit. And been putting it off Blue hat blues & Craig Penton are very impressed with this lesson. And as result intends to show more respect to Blues progression and your self. Speail after the can ii just blow into this thing. Video.lesson😁 which knocked my hat so to speak. Thankyou. ,
10:30 on a Friday night and here's Jason Ricci, lookin' all casual, playing me a slow soulful blues. How kool is that? Let me know when you're getting near Chicago, will ya'?
Great man!!! But way too short😀 love You playing slow blues being tired, improvising behind the wheel with a sticking seven draw on board Mr. B.B. Ricci man. You have Your soul between the reeds bro. And I work on bending the six overblow up to the major third on the one chord. I would love to hear You performing on this., and to be in Houston tonight. Unfortunately I am in Germany and its snowing. Thanks man. You are the greatest🙏🏻
Jason.....do video on NOLA. Where to go, what to see. What to avoid and where not to go. I'm just a small town boy living in a small town world. But would like to go to NOLA sometime.
Very grateful to God for you Jason. I’ve been meditating on the Major Pentatonic and Relative Minor Pentatonic Scales lately (making application along the lines of your videos “Major Pentatonic” & “Mixing Major and Minor Pentatonic Scales”- I think that’s what they are called…-anywho-I’m thinkin’ about what you said in regard to playing the 7 of IV and I’m becoming more convinced of using the minor pentatonic on the IV (because of it possessing the root and what have you)-anyway, long and wordy just to say, no matter the editing or not, this information has helped me in my study and I’m fully confident in assuming that it will most certainly help others as well! Godspeed to you, your band and trip. Keep kickin’ ass for His Glory. I remember Tony Bennett sayin’ somethin’ about that-“Whenever theres music, the devil kicks…” Later Jason! -Ronnie
@@jasonricci been looking into the history of the Major Pentatonic Scales and I have found next to nothing on origin-I know the easy answer is God, but I’m trying to flesh it out-like why those notes and what are the implications? Five fingers, each hand Left Hand: Do-Re-Mi-La, Right Hand: La-Do-Re-Mi-So…idk I’m just diggin’ this journey man. God is such a show off and He’s got every tight too. God bless ya Jason -Ronnie
Would this pattern/scale/riff be played over a D major backing track??? I've tried to play these bends over a D major backing track but I can't get it to sound right. TIA
i dont understand any of this but its still interesting to me. i always wanted to play a blues harp. i dont know why i still havent bought a set. i have 1 folk harp that i never play because the blues 1s sound so much better.
Out of interest, are you puckering or tongue block? I'm gonna get this down as it might calm my kids. Such a chilled lesson. All good little problems to have, sticky reed never gonna kill anyone & still sounds great! Thanks for sharing on the road.
Try to look after yourself Jason. Maybe, pre record lessons before you go out on tour. Then you can put the lesson out there and then get some much needed sleep. Take care.
I usually try... Did that last week. But this week I had so much preparation for tour with the van, band, clubs and agents, so many lessons to do, Patreon video, family stuff and MORE bro. There was ZERO time. I was going to just a quick Q n A but everyone was sleeping. So this extra 18 minutes was definitely the best solution!
