    Roundabouts are a lesson in filtering out noise. There is often lots going on, but you only have to worry about your path and whether anything is going to intersect it.

    there's a way to deliver a message and you do it great, many instructors would have killed her confidence on the roundabout issues, but you explained it in a clear way with a nice tone rather than destructive and she ended up laughing and smiling in the end, eager to go and learn I bet.

    Hi Aman , a great video once again and hat’s off to your pupil who made a fantastic effort, I will confess major roundabouts have never been a strong point when I was learning to drive where there are 3 or 4 lanes with traffic lights.
    It cannot be easy being a driving instructor as I know you have to look streets ahead when driving off with any new pupil and a ton of pressure from videoing and making sure everything is in order.
    Well done Aman for giving the opportunity to watch these fantastic videos.
    Kindest regards paul

    I learn so much from your videos, thanks for the all effort you put in. The bit at 11:50 where you explain how bringing the clutch up quick in first while moving at speed causing engine braking could be a serious fault because the car is slowing down with no brake light makes so much sense but I can guarantee if I did it in a lesson and my instructor brought it up I'd just be like "haha yeah dude totally" with no clue what was said. Being able to go over these things in a video makes them so much easier to take in.

      I (Dutch) will rent one after a few weeks, when I arrive in London. I have a driver's license and I am very experienced with driving in capital and other big cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Berlin, Paris and Brussels). But that is in Western Europe with traffic at the right (I have a car with manual gear).
      The next challenge will be a car trip through London, Birmingham, Liverpool and Edinburgh. But between Liverpool and Edinburgh is 226 miles and I haven't decided yet where I will have a break. Between London and Liverpool, I will have a break at Birmingham.
      But I will have a driving lessons of 2 hours on the 28th of December, to get used to left traffic, automatic gear and traffic situations as far as they are different from European mainland.

    Roundabouts become confusing because so many drivers don't have lane discipline with their last-minute lane-hopping. Ensure you're in the correct lane entering the roundabout, give way to the right, and it becomes a piece of cake.

    I used to struggle with roundabouts a bit, so what my mum did (she was my instructor) is got me driving around doing roundabouts for like 2 hours, starting from the very basics and guiding me through it each time and gradually letting me do it on my own until I actually could do it. I'm learning to drive after 15 years when I first had lessons.
    I'm almost 39 years old and at about 35 hours in now and as I live in the UK I'm driving a manual transmission. I've had three different instructors (had bad experiences with two) until finally settling with one I'm comfortable with. He's the world driving guy (TH-cam) who is very good, encouraging and patient. My first instructor talked way too much and didn't let me drive enough. The second guy let me drive for the entire time but instruction was poor, too laid back and half the time he was texting on his phone (which I hear is illegal!).
    Anyway, even so I feel I'm still not at the level I should be at this point and I can't help but feel embarrassed about it. Passed my theory at least but still making too many serious mistakes out on the road with my instructor having to intervene still.
    Perhaps it's because I've had to go through these three different instructors. I tend to get annoyed if I make a mistake or two and then it snowballs into a multitude of errors, some serious.
    I'm not sure I could even do a mock test as there'll be too many faults.
    It is frustrating as I do look forward to each lesson and I do like driving which is why I think I'm upset I'm not doing better.

      Don't make it something it isn't. Human error is inevitable, don't let one mistake dictate your mindset. Learn breathing techniques to provide you clarity, it will allow you to shift your attention from the error and enable you to calmly focus on the task at hand.
      Try it in other everyday situations, and see the benefits. Condition your mind so that concentrating on your breathing distracts you from the state of anxiety/rage/fear.

      If you do a mock test you will first get to experience the stress of an actual exam (which I believe is good if you are anxious - train the nervousness away). It will also let you know what you need to focus and work on. Don't be too hard on yourself, a lot comes down to the instructors you've had, you know more than you think just have some confidence.

    7:00 Flashing lights to let someone go is a pet hate of mine, it can lead to so much danger and I don't think people realise how much danger it can cause. Use speed & space and this makes it more obvious than it is safe to go esc

    • @ChrisAndCats
      @ChrisAndCats ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm the opposite. I hate traffic sailing past and leaving you sitting there when theres no need and all they're going to do is stop at the lights just past you. It's also a nuisance because traffic is backed up on one side because someone needs to turn and the other side won't let them across. In a tourist zone like where I am, all the roads would be bunged solid if no-one let anyone go. Flashing/allowing someone to go is fine, but it's still up to the person to check it's safe before proceeding, ie look for yourself before accepting it/going.

    • @keith6400
      @keith6400 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Whilst it is a good idea not to flash your lights at others. You have no control on whether others flash their headlights at you. Generally, they are giving way to you. They are not saying everyone is giving way to you also and they will not have not checked that it is safe for you to go in respect of other road users or hazards. You must determine that for yourself by observation.

      guessing you're talking about 10:30, not 11:20. I will press like on your comment so you get a notification. it's a mini roundabout so signal to leave isn't as necessary it seems and is clear from your position that you are not going back around the roundabout, so don't need a left signal leaving here, but if you wanted to then do it as you're blocking the part where traffic from 1st exit enters roundabout / basically when you have passed the first exit so it is clear you are not going there but the following one

    Hello Aman ...you said something about repeat traffic lights....and your student wouldn't have stopped even stooped for the pedestrian even if it was red ???? Please I didn't quite catch that...could you explain that in another way.

    • @ClearviewDriving
      @ClearviewDriving  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would never stop for red light that doesn’t have a solid line with it as that traffic light doesn’t apply to you at that time
      The stop line was much further back
      The only exception to this is temporary traffic lights

    19:28 I never seen these kind of traffic lights before. I'm guessing it is for the cars turning right? If it turns red will there also be a red arrow pointing right as well?

    • @Yveness
      @Yveness ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The green arrow will show allowing you to turn left or right only and then the rest of the traffic will have a red light showing. When it's their time to go it will show green and the green arrow will not show, only a red light. So you'll know not to go. There's no red arrow.

    • @SurgeDashcam
      @SurgeDashcam ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just a repeater traffic light for the set of lights just before it. If you accidentally stop too far forward of the initial set and can't see the lights, that repeater light is there so you can still see when to go/stop.

    Absolute beginner here and third lesson in, and my driving instructor keeps raising his voice at me. During my first lesson, his tone of voice was friendly but he would ask me really personal questions such as “Where are you from? Are you a Christian? Do you drink?” These questions made me feel uncomfortable. I decided against indulging him any further and so when he asked whether I can cook on my second lesson, I questioned why he was asking. I don’t think he was expecting a pushback and he tried to be smart by coming up a senseless analogy using an egg in a pan of water to describe turning/positioning the car; it didn’t add up at all! At some point, I must have mentioned why I never felt the need to learn to drive in London when I was younger and even now my partner drives me everywhere. This man changed right after I said that. You could see his countenance change and there was this brief moment of silence like he was processing what I’d just said. After the lesson while we were discussing key-points to improve on etc, he made a reference to what I said earlier regarding my partner driving me everywhere and I declined to comment on it. Then come the third lesson, while preparing to move off, my left leg began to jitter (I do get some jitters on my left leg while engaging the clutch usually at the start of my lesson. I think it's partly due to nerves and the fact that my left side has always been my weak side). I kept asking myself why my left leg keeps shaking even though I wasn't feeling very nervous. He then made a comment along the lines of "Does your partner not massage your leg?" I didn't comment on it and then a moment after he asked again "Your partner, does he not massage your leg?" I looked at him while he was asking so that he realises that I hear what he's saying but I just refuse to comment on it. At this point, I was still asking myself why my leg keeps jittering and I said it's not so much because I am nervous but because my left leg is just weak and I need to go back to the gym. All through the lesson he would raise his voice at me for every mistake I make, constantly saying I apply too much force on the gear but when I apply little force and I can't get into the correct gear as a result he would criticise that. I've told him that I (personally) apply just enough force that I need to get into the correct gear and if he thinks that's too much then there's nothing I can do about it - he's constantly watching that gear stick. He would even criticise me for doings things which I didn't do like when he said to turn the engine off after my last lesson, I was just holding onto the keys when he immediately said I was doing it the wrong way. I was so confused at this point because in my head I'm thinking.."I haven't even turned the keys yet". I told him that I wasn't turning the keys but he said that I was going to. In response to him I said, I was going to turn the keys anti-clockwise but I wasn't even turning them yet. He wouldn't even let me finish and proceeded to talk over me and brushed it off. He also said that I can't and shouldn't make mistakes, like I'm not allowed to make mistakes. I've only had 6 hours of driving lessons and I'd never driven prior to this. Everyone learns differently and we won't all pick up on things at the same pace or in the same way. I feel rushed and would like to just focus on my pace until I've completely grasped the basics and I'm confident moving onto the main road/motorway. Driving is all about skills, control, hazard awareness and safety and I'm just not there yet. I've been told that when starting out to learn how to drive, the number of lessons one would need to get to a confidence level (all proportions) isn't fixed. One would need as many lessons as one requires. I would appreciate a professional, cool-headed driving instructor who is knowledgeable, respectful, patient and emotionally mature. I haven't made half of the mistakes on this video but yet Aman remains absolutely professional and respectful, she's also friendly which is a bonus.

      Hey this made me really sad, your instructor should behave in a professional manner and they shouldn’t be asking inappropriate questions.
      After reading your message I would recommend you ask for a refund if you’ve already prepaid, you will be able to get your remaining money back.
      You need to find yourself a different instructor, be sure to speak to your new instructor and mention your concerns and the areas you need to work on.
      Call a few independent instructors and get a trial lesson and see how you get on and then go from there.
      Hope you manage to find a suitable instructor
      Aman

    I'm a little confused, coasting is dangerous and you refrain from marking it down as a minor? The wheels aren't engaged with the gearbox when the clutch pedal is down, this is borderline a serious fault when turning and can easily cause a crash. Let the engine do the breaking.
