    I have heard both Shroud & TenZ mention on separate occasions that having things like a faster keyboard switch/ a lighter mouse/ an audiophile grade pair of headphones & a super higher refresh rate monitor actually benefit the worst players the most, not by a very large margin but if you put all these things together whilst VERY expensive it CAN slightly improve reaction times & it COULD get you 2 or 3 more kills or save you from 2 or 3 more deaths on average but if you're not competing for money the total price is just not worth it especially when it's so player dependant, it can make some people 5% better and it will make some people 50% better, and if you're missing just one of these pieces of gear then the difference it makes goes down significantly! both of those rants came off of both of them saying pretty much the same thing relying to someone in chat "All these bells and whistles only help pro's when they are having an off day but if the pro i'm fighting is also having an off day but has the better equipment and i don't then it's GG for me" so if everyone agreed to play on the same basic & cheap gear and nobody ever bought anything better then we could all save money lol

      I WAS THERE FOR THAT! some guy in chat was trying to say he was only good because hes rich and buys all the best gear lol

    Definitely looks like ASUS borrowed some ideas from the Mountain Everest keyboard for this thing.

    So I have many mixed thoughts on this one. Cool innovative design, love the wireless connectivity & detachable southpaw numpad, and it looks great for a mainstream gaming keyboard. The old me before I got deep into the custom keyboard hobby would have considered getting this if it was on sale for under $200.
    On the other hand, the fact that I’m pretty deep into mnmys brother, and an extremely thorough review!
    PS: Been wondering why I haven’t seen any new videos from you popping up in my feed, and just noticed that TH-cam apparently unsubscribed me from your channel…!!! I’m back now, but not sure why people keep getting randomly unsubscribed from out channels.
    Happy and healthy holiday and new year wishes to you and your family!

    I agree with your assessment. Its a pretty decent keyboard with some great features plus some quirks that really hold it back. My main gripe is the volume is on the removable part so you have to use the function key for volume if you go TKL. The other thing is the removable end caps that get easily lost. I just leave them in the box. Battery life is good though.

    This is a cool idea that i hope the higher end enthusiast boards... adopt (copy?)... lol

    in my opinion keyboards like this make gaming keyboards relevant again. Props to Asus for this one, its not perfect but its a step in the right direction.

      Agreed! Seeing this is definitely cool. One of my friends was working on a numpad concept similar to this but it was a simple FR4 case keyboard so seeing it in a mainstream keyboard is pretty wild.

    Tbh I think the perspective of a person in the custom community on gaming boards is hugely helpful to consumers. Since the community is so gatekeepy, its kinda nice for people to be able to just know if something is *actually* good by our standards without having to sift through all of the "gaming boards bad" stuff.
    Great review

    • @AndyVNguyen
      @AndyVNguyen  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! The companies are doing cool things and at least you can purchase them. They aren’t going to be able to 1:1 beat a ai03 keyboard but you won’t have to wait around for it either. They can do the r&d and then instock it.

    Great to see you review this. Before I found customs I had seen this and liked the removable numpad idea. That lead me to purchase freebird tkl and it's numpad which I will use on the left side. Nice to have your opinions on both.

      @AndyVNguyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Moving the numpad to the left is definitely key! I just always hated having two usb cables

    I remember what you said in the Korn viedo and I swear by that when judging a product. Something along the lines of loving it for what it is, and not nitpick it for what it's not. While I'm not going to get a board like this for a number reasons(can't use any larger than 60% purely out of preference),I do understand this board deserves a spot in the market even if it's niche product.

    Awesome vid btw! I really like the southpaw numpad but yeah not a lot of customization to be had so imma pass on this one.

      Lmao I was grinding Doom to be a menace then they nerfed him down.
      This is def probably the coolest prebuilt I've seen but I do miss having at least having some options to customize

    or you could get a mountain everest
    and if you want a gaming keyboard get a wooting keyboard
    both of which are cheaper and higher quality imo

    I have to say that the biggest miss on this board is the switch design forcing non standard keycaps and non standard stabs. pcb mount stabs would be ideal but even plate mount stabs can be modded to be good. i love long boards and like that bigger companies are starting to take input from the hobby but this feels like a step backwards. not only can you not use different keycaps what happens when you break one cleaning the board? i dont hate prebuilts and often mod them for friends that dont want to drop a lot of money on a custom

    • @AndyVNguyen
      @AndyVNguyen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely agree there. The switch/stab combination for the optical makes it incompatible with a lot of the customization that makes mechanical keyboards fun.

      Asus tried something different, which is really important for the consumer. Whether they succeeded is a different matter, but the fact that companies are innovating and providing unique designs is important.
      The mx platform is pretty much at its limit, so new ideas are needed.

    you looked at this objectively instead of instantly referring to it as unusable trash and you didn't recommend people look at a group buy keyboard that isn't even available anymore so congrats you're not a gatekeeper.
    this board looks like a decent concept but whenever you can use the word proprietary more than once on a product that's an L for me personally
