    The 3.17 update has made ROC mining much much easier. You now see crystals from 4000 meters instead of less than 1000. It also seems there are a lot more deposits on Daymar than there used to be. Before I gave up the ROC mining because the Prospector was so much more profitable. In 3.17 I am finding them to be equally profitable when mining on Daymar for non-quantanium deposits.

      @@jumpyjunior1642 My last trip with the ROC DS it took 2 hours to fill it up, but I made $180,000. With the Prospector I can usually fill a load worth $100,000. If I am really lucky and find good rocks quick it can be in a half hour, but sometimes takes over an hour. That is on Daymar mining non-quantanium deposits. If you are serious about the money then mining quant on Lyria is the best bet.

    The ROC doesn't have 80 SCU of cargo, but 0.8 SCU. It's 80 cSCU, c is for "centi" in the metric system it means divided by 100. As a reminder, the Freelancer only has 66 SCU.

    Some not that useful info you'll rarely find on guides online :
    * There are 3 cave size : small, medium and large. You can see the size by looking at the entrance : A small walkable entrance with boxes and light around leads to a small cave, a large side entrance on a hill but still walkable leads to a medium cave (usually for vehicles), a huge hole in the ground only accessible by ship leads to a large cave. Large cave can even have multiple levels at the entrance with gem deposits at each level.
    * You can mine size 2 gem deposit (Hadanite, Aphorite and Dolivine) with a prospector, but you will have to take the gems manually which takes a lot of time (might be useful in the future with tractor beams).
    * 4 players can mine a size 2 gem deposit with only multitools, but again it will take some time to store all the gems.
    * You can also take a ROC inside a medium or large cave, there you can use it to mine some of the gem deposits, but you'll be unable to drive far from the entrance. ROC can mine size 1 gem deposits if you're careful.
    * Cave hopping is better than regular cave mining. Go to a cave (large preferably), mine everything near the entrance but don't go too deep. Return to your ship, go on a bed, log out, then log in to another server and all the gem deposits are back.
    * Ship storage is not shared between players at the moment, but the ROC storage is. Until they fix ship storage, you can use a ROC to store all your gems while hand mining in a group.
    * Right now, there is no atmosphere inside a cave, even on planets with a breathable atmosphere.
    * Some caves have water inside making them too dangerous to use. It's very rare, but if you see one with water or if the entrance is close to water, just find another location. This will be fixed with 3.17 as you will no longer die when you touch water.
    * The website verseguide will provide you with all caves locations.

I still don't understand how the ship scanner can tell the make up of gem deposits ..I just eyeball it now and as long as there is hadanite it's worth stopping and cracking some rocks. The forward and down view is awful on the Cutlass though.. I find I have to fly with nose down at 45° but equal power on up and forward thrusters to see what is ahead of me.

      I've found it's not reallyworth stopping for deposit of anything less than 3 hadanite rocks.. I keep going until I find the 7, 8, 9 clusters.. the ROC fills up quick then. Any idea what the actual storage of the ROC is ..says it's 80 but I've managed to get a little over 100 in . I was afraid it would glitch and I'd loose the lot so I tapped out then and sold it all but it seemed like it would keep going.. I tend to sell now when it's around half full though..just in case something goes wrong.

    I just accept an Aberdeen Cave mission then aim at the mission tracker @ 200Meters away and stop at every group of 2 or more Hadanite I come across on my way to the cave mission, my ROC has 100% hadanite every single time. The gems I get from the caves is just a bonus.

    @JookySeaCpt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So if you are taking a combat mission to find a cave to mine in, be sure to check the chest, leg, and backpack pieces of enemies for gems. Just select Loot on the body, then right click the backpack, chest, or leg and select Open. Take all the gems. Most of them will have gems stashed in their armor - no mining necessary. You can also find gems in loot crates in caves, so look out for that. You should be able to pull about 180k aUEC from the mission reward and the gems the hostiles have on them.

    Dolivine is actually not wasted. This guy gave some false information. I have made millions by collecting dolivine either from dead Npcs or mined them. While it’s true that hadanite and aphorite crystals are more valuable but dolivine gives you 5 to 10 units per crystal while aphorite and hadanite only give 1 unit per crystal.
    The price of hadanite is 275 auec per crystal. Aphorite is 150 auec per crystal and dolivine is 130 per crystal.
    Here’s an example, you go in a cave and find two rocks. One contains hadanite while the other contains dolivine. You mine the hadanite rock and collect 8 hadanite crystals from it. After that you go mine the dolivine and get 10 dolivine crystals from it. After that you go and sell everything. What you will se when you sell hadanite is that you have only 8 units of hadanite. This will only give you 2200 auec. But when you try to sell the 10 dolivine crystals you will se that you have somewhere between 90 - 100 units of dolivine which will give you 11 700 - 13 000 auec.

    How do I sell my prospector for a nomad and a Roc?

  • @fisc_rl
    @fisc_rl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm a little confused.
    The ROC holds 0.8 SCU of storage (80 cSCU). If hadanite sells for 275 aUEC / unit. That should mean (0.8 * 100) * 275 = 22,000 aUEC for a full ROC of hadanite, not 200k? Am i doing my math wrong?

    • @BeardofOz
      @BeardofOz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To the error in your math, I couldn't point it out, I'm just a dude with a Beard. But 200k is most definitely possible in one run. I've just this moment sold 296 units of Aphorite and 120 units of Hadanite (a smidge over half full ROC) for 78k. I was on Microtech cruising and mining hence the rubbish result, but the planets just so pretty.

    • @fisc_rl
      @fisc_rl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BeardofOz
      I figured out where my math was wrong. Hadanite actually sells for 275 per 0.1 Units.
      The ROC stores 0.8 SCU (80 cSCU).
      (0.8 SCU * 100) = 80 Units of Hadanite
      Hadanite sells for 275 aUEC per 0.1 Units
      So, 275 * (80 / 0.1) = 220,000 aUEC

    • @VoltKraken5555
      @VoltKraken5555 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fisc_rl hadanite is measured in microSCU (μSCU) instead of centiSCU (cSCU). An SCU is 100 cSCU or 1,000,000 μSCU. hadanite is 1,000 μSCU. take 1,000,000 and divide by 1000, you get 1,000 hadanite per scu. multiply by .8 and you get 800 hadanite at .8 scu capacity of the ROC.
