Hi Deena. Some months ago I had emailed you about a book I thought you may be interested in. Not sure if you ever got that email. I tend to misspell things.
The book I recommended was called Divine Intamacy. It's a collectjon of prayers and meditations that follow the liturgical year. Written by Carmelite nuns. Some of the most heart felt and just overall beautifully written prayers I've ever read. The one on Baptism brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad I did pick this up. It's very fulfilling reading.

Thank you for this list! I have written it all down! I am a Protestant and soon-to-be Catholic, so a lot of my must-read Catholic books are "crossing the Tiber" category books - Rome Sweet Home, Crossing the Tiber, Evangelical Is Not Enough, Surprised By Truth, Why Be Catholic, Not God's Type, From Islam to Christ, Something Other Than God, etc. (Recommend all of them!!) Looking forward to branching out and reading your recommendations! Diana

Thank you so much Deena for your recommendation on these wonderful books & I want to get all of them! I have the The Anti-Mary EXPOSED: Rescuing the culture from Toxic Femininity by Carrie Gress. This book was so alarming but much needed to hear for today’s woman! I was so angry in how we, woman have been ripped off & she’s right on 🎯. Will get back to & look in to the “Marion Option”. Another book I highly recommend is the “Biography of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre” along with “Priestly Holiness”. Hope you do another short video on more 📚 Deena. Thank you

77th comment. :-) Imitation of Christ is one I would highly recommend and have done so before including to a seminarian. I did stress that I had a recent conversion. It gave me hope to hear that I'm not the only one who has come back to the Church. And i also can relate to when you explained how you didn't know the importance of Mother Mary before your return. Thankfully I have better understanding of Blessed Virgin Mary's role now from scripture and prophecies such as Fatima. For that reason if I was wanting to win a book would go for Marian option first and after that Devout Life by St Francis De Sales.

"The Life of St Cajetan" by Lady Herbert (reprint from 1888). As a former novus ordo attendee myself and someone in your age group, this was an incredible eye opener for me. I had *no* idea about the horrors that the protestant heretics inflicted on Catholics or their sack of Rome in the early 16th Century. I was expecting another "life of a saint" book where you learn about his sanctity, etc.,... was not expecting this at all when I read it. I'm glad I did though. Really grounded me in some history that was glossed over in "Catholic" school.

Ahhh! Love this video! My recommendations include : "Praying in the Presence of Our Lord for the Holy Souls" by Susan Tassone, which I found after reading "Hungry Souls" by Gerard J M Van Den Aardweg, that scared the pee outta me ! profoundly life-changing! ; "Prodigal Daughters: Catholic Women Come Home to the Church" by Donna Steichen; :Mexican Martyrdom: Firsthand Accounts of the Religious Persecution in Mexico 1926-1935" by Rev. Wilfrid Parsons - I had no idea! I think of Mexico as Catholic and 'that's that' - boy, was I wrong! ; There is also a book I can't find (must be borrowed-out) I believe is called "Confessions of an Ex-Feminist"

Great video. I look forward to reading these books. I think the only one on your list that I have read is Infiltration and it was eye opening. I am a cradle Catholic but I have learned so much since covid about our Faith. Turns out all these years I was not worshiping God as He wants to be worshipped especially at Mass. i was never comfortable with all of the NO stuff that took place but it was all I knew. We have a new priest now who is way more traditional. (And we have lost many parishioners because of it😔). I know I’m not completely there yet as it will take a lot to reorder my thinking and practices of 40 years. But I will get there and I pray that my family comes along with me.

Hi Dena I just want to say thank you for this video I absolutely loved it. I wish I could choose every book but I would love if I had the opportunity to win “The Marion Option”, lol.
all the books are amazing and one of the books that stood out to me too was Deliverance prayers which I already have and am going to put down and leave to those who are trained to use it. I appreciate your honesty and speaking about the book that was never explained to us , but we’re told to purchase one for each of my children to keep close by which we will not be doing so thank you very much for that information. As a cradle Catholic I grew up in a Catholic home and we weren’t supposed to ask questions about the Mass because it was considered sacred. All I remember was getting pinched ,poked ,and prodded during Mass for looking up or moving around too much. As an adult and a mom of four now I often catch myself doing that to my young adult children. And I grew up in my home where mom‘s word was ultimate she was a stern Catholic wife and mother but she ran the show lol. And I often have found myself doing the same thing in my own marriage, my 4 sisters are all now divorced. My husband and I just had our 35th wedding anniversary and if I could go back and take so many things that I have said to make him feel less then I would. So thank you for this video God bless🙏🏼

All good books Deena! I want to suggest Fr. Mawdsley's recent publication of his first book called Adam's Deep Sleep: The Passion of Christ prefigured in the Old Testament. For those of us who want to better understand the OT and how it's permeated with figures of Christ, it is amazing. I found that my heart burns within me when I read it, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus when Christ opened up to scriptures to them. Highly recommend it. God bless you all.

Thank you Deena for doing this video! A lot of times I feel so overwhelmed because there are so many books and so many things I have to learn about the faith but this is always a good start. I was profoundly impacted by Ask Your Husband so I would definitely reccomend that one. I also read Infiltration after I read Resistance by Michael Voris. I highly reccomend reading those together because they complement each other so well. Voris' book gets more at the emotion of what was stolen from us and Marshall's is more academic. I can't wait for part 2! P.S I'd love to win Introduction to the Devout Life because a group from my church is starting a book study on it!

I apppreciate your sharing the books that changed your life. I have so many books that I consider "must haves". However, for the sake of not writing a too lengthy comment or a book of my own in the comment section, I narrowed it down to the following four books out of the ones I have read/still have:
    (1) Christus Vincent. Christ's Triumph Over the Darkness Of the Age by Bishop Athanasius Schneider
    (2) An Ordinary's Not So Ordinary Life. Bishop Rene Gracida's autobiography.
    (3) God Is Love. Deus Caritas Est by Pope Benedict XVI
    (4) The Weapon. Changing the Gates of Hell with the Holy Rosary by Michael Voris.
These books are important to me. They also have been helpful for my family.

Can I take communion at a TLM? I’ve only been to Norvus Ordo and will more than likely screw it up even though I have a missel 😬😬

    • @ACatholicWife
      @ACatholicWife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Mimi J why wouldn’t you be able to *receive* Holy Communion? You’ll go up as usual and kneel at the communion rail. Father will place the Eucharist on your tongue while is says
Corpus Dómini nostri Iesu Christi custódiat ánimam tuam in vitam ætérnam. Amen.
He says Amen …we do not. After you receive …get up and return to your pew (obviously kneel and say your prayers).
The *Novus* Ordo is very different from the Vetus Ordo (TLM).
The *missal* will guide you as to what is happening in the Mass.
Please understand that the missal you use at the *Novus* Ordo is not the same missal you’d use at the Vetus Ordo.
Here is my missal (I also have a video on my channel showing how to use the missal at the TLM)

Thank you for this list Deena. I do have a question though - I am someone who is hoping to convert and through all the reading I have done and the TH-cam videos I have watched, very little of anything is spoken about women who are divorced and who remain single. I'm 63 and have been on my own for 15 years and when people speak about such things as perimeter prayers being left to their husbands, my thought is "Where does that leave those of us who are without a husband?" . I don't know if you would be willing to address this or whether you could point me (and others) in the direction of someone who could answer this question. For context, I live in a small Scottish island and good Catholic priests are thin on the ground here - sadly. Many thanks and apologies for the long post 🙂

This may be a good question for Catholic Answers. Call into their radio show Monday-Friday, 3-5 p.m. Eastern Time. Their website shows the topic lineup ahead of time so maybe call during an "open forum" show. You could send them an email too if you don't want to talk on the radio. They could probably direct you to other sources from there. God bless you.

@@julieelizabeth4856 thank you so much for this. I’ll e-mail them as phoning from Scotland is probably prohibitive ☺️. Thank you once again for the reply.
