So cool you’re working in higher education now. I’m a CPA but have only ever worked in higher ed accounting. I’m now a consultant working with many institutions. It’s a really rewarding industry!
So glad to hear! My first accounting internship was in higher ed and I loved it. Then I audited only higher ed institutions, and now I’m working internally at one so that’s been the theme of my journey as well!
Ahh I was wondering when this video would drop because you LOVED that auditor role. So happy for you to take on new challenges but definitely can relate to the Monopoly money situation. When I worked at one for profit co I had to execute the Federal tax payment when the rate was still 35% 😅 scariest thing I’ve ever done.
Thats so awesome! Im excited for you and with you! I cant wait to see what this new adventure brings for you! Def keep us posted if you can because as always, I ALWAYS enjoy ur content and channel. As I shared with you before, I left State of Alabama auditor and now Im a Financial Analyst here at one of the hospitals here in Chattanooga. Many blessings to you and stay blessed! 👍🏾🙏🏾
I have 0 tolerance for any click bait so I feel you 😂 but this was a case that was fully true! Going to have to practice pronouncing “finance” all weird now 🤣
Good. Corporations need to learn that making employees work overtime without pay is not okay. We all need to quit at the same time until they start treating people with respect.
I thought I saw you mentioned on Insta a new job. I figured it was a new client 😅 Congratulations Heaven! It can be so hard to leave a job where you feel comfortable, love your coworkers, and benefits! Trust me I know 😅 I hit 9 years at my job in August. Just remember to take it one day at a time and to make time for yourself.
Congratulations on your new position! I can say I love working in government as well! I work for Los Angeles County at my second department. Started with our internal services department and now with our Auditor Controller! Loving it so far and doing my first government year end and financial statements the rest of this year!
Wow! You just took me down memory lane! In a prior life, I worked as a state auditor in the Knoxville office. I am now a counseling pastor at a large church in Knoxville. I hadn't heard the term "GASB" since 1991! Good luck on your new venture. I think you'll find the things you learned as a state auditor will serve you well as you continue to grow and develop!
@@drtoddhardin oh my goodness this comment just made my day because I’ve been a member of Grace since 2008 and when I saw your name.. I was like we have a Pastor Todd. I had no idea your roots started at State Audit!! Wow, small world!
Congratulations Heaven!!! I'm so happy for you. Thank you for sharing. And really love that bible verse at the end. May God continue to bless you greatly 🙂
Congrats girl! I’ve been subscribed since you were taking your exams. We were testing around the same time. This is a big opportunity, I hope it continues to be a great opportunity!
Just accepted a position in finance and im shaking in my boots 😂 going from an assistant controller role to a treasury analyst role for a significantly larger company
That’s so exciting, congratulations!! My role as assistant controller here works very closely with our finance guys and the analysts so I can relate to the complexities there! But you’ve got this, it’ll be fun to be a little bit in a new world and for a large company. Good luck!!
Im lucky I got into a smaller public accounting firm and the partners aren't budget nazi's that micromanage and overanalyze how many hours it takes for each audit section. I just told them straight up that they pay me salary so their payroll costs to keep me employed are the same no matter how many hours it takes me to get a job done so as long as I make the magic happen and the audit work gets done before the deadline they should be happy and not worry if I had to to put in some extra hours to make it happen. The last thing I want to hear after busting my ass 60+ hour weeks to finish the audits in time is any whining about me going an hour over budget on a section or two lol.
May I give ALL the Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ Who is God and His Holy Ghost 🙌🏿 ✝️ 🧎🏽 Now, you tell Tyler his gf is looking fiiiiiine! Not acceptable social media etiquette, I know... but I don't care. Anyway. Haven't seen you in a while but glad everything is going well. Also seen your sisters daughter on IG and she's so big...🙌🏿✝️🧎🏽 Keep well.
@@mattcoursecareers I did not receive an email but I’m not doing any paid partnerships right now anyhow. Trying to focus my time and energy on this new gig!
What? Why would you quit your job? Don't you know that everyone is struggling with life right now?? Jk! I'm very happy for you and I'm all for people doing things to make them happy. Congratulations on this next phase of life!
It's ironic that you got a job at a client you were auditing. This isn’t a reflection on you, but it highlights a lack of independence within the auditing process. When auditors become top candidates for the clients they audit, conflicts of interest can easily arise. Auditors often end up auditing their future employers.
@@gduke25 it’s not a conflict of independence; it probably happens way more often than you’d think. It’s just the nature of having auditors on site for 6+ months haha you learn their work ethic, attention to detail, communication skills, and really anything else that you seek out for employment. There are strict rules about mentioning employment or job postings.
@@HeavensAudventure Can I ask how you heard about the position and how the hiring process went? Like, did they contact you, were you looking for something different, or were you out to lunch with someone who worked there who convinced you to apply? Thanks Heaven!
