It really is the most perfect cinematic depiction of mental health struggles. The first time i watched it, I spent the first fifteen minutes slowly realising that "this is not a space movie" and then spending the rest of it noticing that it was a perfect expression of how I feel when I battle with my depression. Even the debris field was something I recognised from everyday life. It's extraordinary. I feel really sorry for those who focus on the 'scientific inaccuracies' of this movie, when it clearly isn't even happening for real - it's all inside Ryan's head and she's not even in space at all. But maybe I feel envious of them, for not understanding - or for being able to forget - what it's like to be caught up inside the hell of a seemingly inescapable mindset of self-destructive hopelessness, fear & sorrow.
The visuals in this film in the theaters was amazing. The closest most of us will ever get to actually being in space. Limited cast, high tension, and I'm glad you got to react to this one. Many people on this platform seem to miss this one.
The production team played a bit of a joke in this movie. In one scene there is a reflection in Kowalski's face shield showing a cameraman and boom mike operator, but they're wearing space suits, implying the scene was actually shot in space. :-D
Aningaaq (an ice fisherman) was the name of the Eskimo she was chatting with. There a "DVD extra" short from his perspective picking up her signal overhead on his sled radio.
Saw this in the cinema, on the big screen, in 3D - it was every bit as thrilling as you imagined it would be. I'm an astronomer in my spare time and would love nothing more than to go into space, and this film alone is the reason my entire family think I'm insane for wanting that! And that bit on the ham radio with the dogs makes me well up every-single-time. Sandy B smashed this one out of the park
This movie was EPIC, and I don't say that lightly, and Sandra was absolutely amazing, and if anyone ever doubted her acting abilities, this movie should put them to rest. She deserved every accolade and dollar she acquired from this movie and then some, as not everyone could have made this movie work, she was perfectly cast.
It's an extra on the DVD. It's really lovely and yet mundane and sad at its core. The character is one of the most unexpected and refreshing passing characters from a movie I can think of.
This was such an experience in the cinema. The way they filmed the first 20 minutes look like one continuous shot with those epic visuals and music was great.

i've seen this in theaters 16 times. the womb visual got me hooked and solidified the metaphore of grief and depression. the recurring shedding of layers and the threat of all consuming void of space, it really hit me at the time
This beautiful film has so much to say about grief and perseverance. I love it so much. It takes, unfortunately, a decent amount of liberty with orbital mechanics to make any of the plot work, but I really think this two piece with Bullock and Clooney is a sci-fi masterpiece. This is what sci-fi is supposed to do; use science (or fantasy) as a context for powerful human stories. The coolest thing that is scientifically accurate is that the capsule she returns to earth in, which is also essentially a Soyuz capsule, despite being Chinese, is actually able to reenter in a tumble like that, it will right its own attitude. Very cool to see it depicted on film.

Kessler syndrome in full display. Cool movie, quite possibly the most realistic about space.. You can't turn, stop spinning, make a curve, stop flying unless you're tied to something or have some mean of propulsion. Silence is included by default. =)
Fire is SO dangerous in space. If you've seen one of those videos how quickly a room with furniture catches fire, now imagine that but the fire doesn't have the good grace to sit on the ground like it's heavy, but it floats in the room, creates airflows and coasts along those into other rooms and ventilations and THEN add the confined spaces of spaceships and -stations. The only good thing is that there's less burning material around, just to keep the danger manageable. As the fire burns and even once it's out, the smoke and gases pool into toxic clouds in the zero-G until the whole space is ventilated. (All movies of course downplay the amount of smoke fires make, so the audience could see.)
This reminds me of a joke that Tina & Amy did at the GG awards. Gravity is the story of how George Clooney would rather float into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.
Scientists have said there was no need for Clooney's character to die in the story. It was just bad movie science. Maybe Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were right. 😉
This was the most beautiful movie reaction I've ever seen, and I've seen countless ones. The direction in this movie was insanely otherworldly. There is a bolt type that's used only by NASA for a specific space vessel, and they replicated that. Other details is that the first bug she sees is a species that was so important for early zoology studies. Last and most meticulous detail: she's suspended in water, then she swims, then she crawls, then she walks on four then she walks on two legs. That's the evolutionary theory. The amount of visual details and direction in this movie is on a whole other level.
Jen, you are absolutely correct that slow careful movements are the key to a successful spacewalk. NASA found this out on Gene Cerman's EVA on Gemini IX. That story is also worthy of a movie!
I saw this in theaters with my mom , it was amazing , she passed recently from cancer and this movies a beautiful memory I have with her , so grateful for the memories movies can and do make. 💜

What was portrayed in this movie has been termed Kessler syndrome. It's a collision cascade, where 1 piece of debris impacting a satellite or station in orbit produces way more pieces of debris, impacting way more area, creating more debris... If this were to ever happen, space travel would be impossible for generations, as the risk of being hit would be too high, requiring that we wait for decades for most of the debris to reenter the atmosphere.
Fun fact : In June 2011, the International Space Station was on a collision course with pieces of space debris. Astronaut Ron Garan and his crew had to quickly retreat to the lower Soyuz rescue capsule and were ordered to leave the spacecraft immediately in the event of a collision, something that had only happened once before in the history of orbital travel. Fortunately, the debris narrowly missed the station, but in the event of a collision the entire station would have been destroyed, according to calculations. Interestingly enough, the film was not inspired by this event, as it was filmed from 14 May to 6 July 2011, parallel to this incident 🤗
No.1 film in the history of October and 100 awards exactly (including 7 Oscars and 1 Golden-Globe). The biggest film for the careers of Bullock, Clooney and filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron. Robert Downey Jr. almost played Clooney's role and bowed out during pre-production (couldn't handle it). A true Sci-Fi masterpiece that I witnessed in IMAX during opening weekend. Such an incredible experience of what it's like between Earth and the stars. To deal with constant danger and survival was astonishing.

Awesome review!! Forgotten how intense/good this movie was. Saw it in the theater just for the special effects and was worth it. Few "space-centered" movies to consider: Apollo 13...about a near-disaster during a Moon mission and based on an actual event The Right Stuff...about the beginnings of the US space mission. NOTE: very long movie but worth every minute Apollo 18..."true" story as to WHY humans never went back to the Moon. OK - BSing on that one. It's about Moon aliens (Sci-Fi/horror/lost footage) and supposedly why humans never returned Life...about the finding/capture of an alien life form in space and its consequences (Sci-Fi/horror) Life Force...about SPACE VAMPIRES!!!!! Came out during 1980s when Halley's Comet last visited Earth. (Sci-Fi/horror) Moonraker...James Bond in space - 'nuff said!! 2001: A Space Odyssey...1968 and sets the standard for all space-oriented movies. Special Effects stands up better than modern SF. Long - and at times boring - movie but worth the watch (Sci-Fi) 2010: The Year We Make Contact....1984 and sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey (Sci-Fi) The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951 & 2008) ...1951 version considered a Sci-Fi masterpiece, but the 2008 version has Keanu Reeves (Sci-Fi)
I saw this in IMAX 3D and it was an extremely memorable theatrical experience. There are certain films that massively benefit from a big screen and this is definitely one of them.
This movie was MADE for 3D! I've been to the cinema, and it was just mind-blowing to see all the stuff flying around in space, the crane, the items, the debris, all in 3D mode ;)

"Gravity" still has one of the best Dolby Atmos immersive tracks that has been released so far. It's too bad Jen could not have experienced the movie for the first time that way.
The whole movie to me is basically a visual of conception to birth. The shot of the cables like the womb is one, but my favorite bit is when she gets that random connection with someone in a different language and they're almost cooing at her. It's probably what babies hear in the womb. Everything is scary and terrifying but there's this sweet voice on the other side assuring you everything is okay. There's more but it's so good.
Yes! This was great! And yes, more space movie reactions! You ought to watch Apollo 13 from 1995... comparable thrills! It stars Tom Hanks! You would love it!

I love this movie. Cuaron, the director, was inspired as a boy by the movie Marooned. In fact, if you see Roma, the movie he made about the time of his youth in Mexico, the movie briefly appears there. Marooned has a lot of star power, with Gregory Peck as the program director, but sadly it is as dull as dishwater, so here we have a case where a not-so-great movie, which was also about astronauts who need to be safely returned to Earth, inspired a dazzling one. The director's son made a short movie about the Icelander with the dog and the ham radio on the other side of that radio conversation. There is some serious concern that we now have so many satellites up within a finite sphere of space above us that we are creating a "junkosphere" which may lead to a crisis of space debris rather like the one in this movie. I find it amazing that nineteen years after Speed, another movie about high- speed vehicles, that Sandra Bullock is still crushing it. Thank you!
I'm sorry about the swearing but this is HIGH STAKES!! 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️ I've always loved space movies, my favorites being Star Wars and Star Trek. Here's a few others that could be worth a watch: Life 2017, Moon 2009, Solaris 2002, Interstellar 2014, Marvel movies!
Saw this in 3d IMAX. An amazing experience. I instinctively was ducking my head to avoid the debris flashing out of the screen. Great all the way around.
I love these last moments when the child must emerge from the watery womb, so that the sea-bound creature can crawl onto shore and, ultimately, rise onto its feet in bipedal motion. Terrific stuff all around.
This film’s opening has quickly became one of my all time favorites, it’s so tense with the amazing visuals making the destruction of the Explorer look so disastrous, I’ve always loved when disaster scenarios take place in space.
WOW! So intense. Great job Jen! "Marooned","Silent Running","Capricorn One", "Robinson Carusoe on Mars",all survival stories. "Outland", Sean Connery "high noon" in space. George Clooney? "Peacemaker" nuclear weapons and Nicole Kidman. Sandy B? "Two weeks notice". No space, no explosions, Hugh grant and a time limit. Luv ya, bye.
This is a fun, movie. They really pushed the 3D aspect when it came out. Great reaction, Jen. I could really tell how tense you were during this. Side note: it's also cool that you mentioned your TV, as I always seem to imagine reactors watching these movies on a laptop or iPad or something and thinking that often times a little something is "lost" watching on a display so small. This movie is the definition of a white-knuckle ride. I could still remember when it was all over. My hands actually hurt from gripping the seat! same with my wife. Watching it with you I feel like I've got PTSD
When I saw this in the cinema, the scene where she gets detached and is spinning off head over heels made me violently retch. I was wound so tightly, it affected my gag reflex.

A great series to watch is "The Expanse" it's a show that puts a lot of effort into getting the science right and it's now my favourite TV show off all time. If you like movies might "The Martian" and "Gravity" then you should definitely watch "The Expanse". It's also been described as "Game of Thrones in Space". A really great show that I'm 100% sure you will love!
I think not having any communication, nor cutting away to NASA etc, upped the tension and horror of the isolation and the utter fear of being on your own with NO help. Nail-bitingly and "edge-of-your-seat" pulse driving movie!! How many of us were clawing the air as she was trying to grab onto something? I REALLY got afraid for her after she landed. I thought that the parachute was going to float onto her, tangle her and pull her down!! GREAT cinematography!!
Jen, once again terrific choice! Dramas about problem solving in a hostile environment always make for great Cinema, Apollo 13, 2001 a Space Odyssey, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The environment itself becomes a crucial character. Love your choices, love your reactions. Always here for them all.

The thought that I was trying to convey, is that film makers have been using the recipe of working through a crisis in a difficult environment many times. The film " Flight of the Phoenix " is a perfect example of that scenario. Quickly getting back to period films worth mentioning, I really think that the movie " Zulu " with Michael Caine is an excellent choice. It actually mixes environment with indigenous peoples in a time of crisis and culture. The only reason that I had mentioned " 20,000 Leagues under the Sea " is in that time period, underwater scenarios were not prevalent. And humans had not yet mastered working in that environment.
@@e.d.2096 Yes, Eric, '20000 Leagues Under the Sea' is a great choice, a little known fact is that we know more about what's in space than we do about what's under the sea! 'Zulu' is yet another great film choice particularly as it based on a real story, it was one of the most embarrassing defeats for the British army at the time too, the film does a great job of showing what went wrong. 'Flight of The Phoenix' 2004 is another great story, I prefer 'The Flight of The Phoenix' from 1965 more though, although both films are good. I think that, Jen, will have some great films to choose from in the coming months with the suggestions.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Hello Adam, another film That I would like to mention. " Once Apon a Time in Hollywood " Tarantino's latest endeavor. I did actually live in California during that time. My father was stationed at an air force base north of Los Angeles. The Manson murders completely changed the landscape of Hollywood at that time. It was in the late 60s, but it was a much simpler time. The event sent shockwaves through out the state and the country. The way he depicted L.A. was absolutely perfect. The streets. Billboards. Clothing styles, even radio commercials were spot on. If you have not seen it, I do highly recommend it. But if you don't know much about Sharon Tate, or the Manson family, I would suggest to do a little research on the subject.
@@e.d.2096 Yes, sadly, I do know about Manson and the family, The Beatles - White Album and what he thought he could hear in its tracks particularly 'Helter Skelter', The Spahn Ranch and all of that, 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' is the only Tarantino film that I've yet to see, I'll have to get around to seeing it, I've heard mixed reviews, mostly good about it.

Another great space movie is First Man, with Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy. It's based on Neil Armstrong's life and the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. Very inspiring and the visuals are awesome!
This was an awesome watch in the cinema, only time I've found 3D any good. One of the most technologically advanced movies at the time, Ironic for a movie all about technological isolation ( and re-birth ). The soundtrack is amazing, Lisa Hannigan singing during the re-entry sequence is epic. One of my all time favourites.

In all the space movies I have ever seen since I was a kid way back in the 70's, this one just blew my mind in 3D. Almost everything you see is photo-real CGI. In fact, there's so much composes this movie, you could almost call it an animated feature. I would encourage you to take a look at how the FX were done in, it took about 5 years to make and they invented technology to do it including a camera mounted on a large robotic arm like those for welding cars together.

Gravity was definitely great .. Have you ever seen the film “Sunshine” (2007) it’s a beautiful and underrated sci-fi/space movie directed by Danny Boyle and also features a tremendous cast!

I'm not good with heights so this was one of the scariest movies I've ever watched - it really does that good a job of giving you the sense of being "up there"!
Such a great movie. I reacted like you when Clooney opened the door. "She is going to die!" It was a beautiful movie to watch on the big screen. Oblivion with Tom Cruise is another good Scifi space movie

This amazing director, Alfonso Cuarón, has created some remarkable films, including CHILDREN OF MEN… which is a film you will never forget. Absolutely brilliant.

I think the biggest lesson here is “It’s never over til it’s over”. With determination and thought there is always a chance to succeed.

This reminds me of a joke that Tina & Amy did at the GG awards. Gravity is the story of how George Clooney would rather float into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.
Scientists have said there was no need for Clooney's character to die in the story. It was just bad movie science. Maybe Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were right. 😉

This was the most beautiful movie reaction I've ever seen, and I've seen countless ones.
The direction in this movie was insanely otherworldly. There is a bolt type that's used only by NASA for a specific space vessel, and they replicated that.
Other details is that the first bug she sees is a species that was so important for early zoology studies.
Last and most meticulous detail: she's suspended in water, then she swims, then she crawls, then she walks on four then she walks on two legs. That's the evolutionary theory.
The amount of visual details and direction in this movie is on a whole other level.
This was one of the few times I appreciated seeing a movie in 3D. Great review, reminded me of how anxious I was in the theater during this.
I know that you meant feeling the G forces so strong, but I also like the Jedi inference that goes along with that.
This was, by far, the best 3D film I’ve seen in a theater.
This IMO is the best performance of Sandra Bullock’s career. She owns every scene and is just extraordinary.
Jen, you are absolutely correct that slow careful movements are the key to a successful spacewalk. NASA found this out on Gene Cerman's EVA on Gemini IX. That story is also worthy of a movie!
I saw this in theaters with my mom , it was amazing , she passed recently from cancer and this movies a beautiful memory I have with her , so grateful for the memories movies can and do make. 💜

What was portrayed in this movie has been termed Kessler syndrome. It's a collision cascade, where 1 piece of debris impacting a satellite or station in orbit produces way more pieces of debris, impacting way more area, creating more debris... If this were to ever happen, space travel would be impossible for generations, as the risk of being hit would be too high, requiring that we wait for decades for most of the debris to reenter the atmosphere.
Fun fact : In June 2011, the International Space Station was on a collision course with pieces of space debris. Astronaut Ron Garan and his crew had to quickly retreat to the lower Soyuz rescue capsule and were ordered to leave the spacecraft immediately in the event of a collision, something that had only happened once before in the history of orbital travel. Fortunately, the debris narrowly missed the station, but in the event of a collision the entire station would have been destroyed, according to calculations. Interestingly enough, the film was not inspired by this event, as it was filmed from 14 May to 6 July 2011, parallel to this incident 🤗
They need those ridiculous and unnecessary Navy lasers up there on the ISS, where they would actually be useful and not ridiculous, but practical.

The most I’ve ever paid for a movie ticket but definitely worth it in this case.
No.1 film in the history of October and 100 awards exactly (including 7 Oscars and 1 Golden-Globe).
The biggest film for the careers of Bullock, Clooney and filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron.
Robert Downey Jr. almost played Clooney's role and bowed out during pre-production (couldn't handle it).
A true Sci-Fi masterpiece that I witnessed in IMAX during opening weekend.
Such an incredible experience of what it's like between Earth and the stars.
To deal with constant danger and survival was astonishing.

Apollo 13...about a near-disaster during a Moon mission and based on an actual event
The Right Stuff...about the beginnings of the US space mission. NOTE: very long movie but worth every minute
Apollo 18..."true" story as to WHY humans never went back to the Moon. OK - BSing on that one. It's about Moon aliens (Sci-Fi/horror/lost footage) and supposedly why humans never returned
Life...about the finding/capture of an alien life form in space and its consequences (Sci-Fi/horror)
Life Force...about SPACE VAMPIRES!!!!! Came out during 1980s when Halley's Comet last visited Earth. (Sci-Fi/horror)
Moonraker...James Bond in space - 'nuff said!!
2001: A Space Odyssey...1968 and sets the standard for all space-oriented movies. Special Effects stands up better than modern SF. Long - and at times boring - movie but worth the watch (Sci-Fi)
2010: The Year We Make Contact....1984 and sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey (Sci-Fi)
The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951 & 2008) ...1951 version considered a Sci-Fi masterpiece, but the 2008 version has Keanu Reeves (Sci-Fi)
I saw this in IMAX 3D and it was an extremely memorable theatrical experience. There are certain films that massively benefit from a big screen and this is definitely one of them.

This movie was MADE for 3D! I've been to the cinema, and it was just mind-blowing to see all the stuff flying around in space, the crane, the items, the debris, all in 3D mode ;)
That ending is just spectacular.. I was in tears.. A grown man..
Another stellar space movie reaction Jen! And I can confirm that this movie is best viewed in 3D on a large screen, because I've seen it several times on a 115" Cinemascope screen in my theater room using the 3D Bluray, and it's... Aweeee Mazing!!!!
I wish more movies like this get a re-release in theaters. To see it in an IMAX would be amazing!

"Gravity" still has one of the best Dolby Atmos immersive tracks that has been released so far. It's too bad Jen could not have experienced the movie for the first time that way.

The whole movie to me is basically a visual of conception to birth. The shot of the cables like the womb is one, but my favorite bit is when she gets that random connection with someone in a different language and they're almost cooing at her. It's probably what babies hear in the womb. Everything is scary and terrifying but there's this sweet voice on the other side assuring you everything is okay. There's more but it's so good.

I love this movie. Cuaron, the director, was inspired as a boy by the movie Marooned. In fact, if you see Roma, the movie he made about the time of his youth in Mexico, the movie briefly appears there. Marooned has a lot of star power, with Gregory Peck as the program director, but sadly it is as dull as dishwater, so here we have a case where a not-so-great movie, which was also about astronauts who need to be safely returned to Earth, inspired a dazzling one. The director's son made a short movie about the Icelander with the dog and the ham radio on the other side of that radio conversation. There is some serious concern that we now have so many satellites up within a finite sphere of space above us that we are creating a "junkosphere" which may lead to a crisis of space debris rather like the one in this movie. I find it amazing that nineteen years after Speed, another movie about high- speed vehicles, that Sandra Bullock is still crushing it. Thank you!

I love these last moments when the child must emerge from the watery womb, so that the sea-bound creature can crawl onto shore and, ultimately, rise onto its feet in bipedal motion. Terrific stuff all around.
This film’s opening has quickly became one of my all time favorites, it’s so tense with the amazing visuals making the destruction of the Explorer look so disastrous, I’ve always loved when disaster scenarios take place in space.
WOW! So intense. Great job Jen! "Marooned","Silent Running","Capricorn One", "Robinson Carusoe on Mars",all survival stories. "Outland", Sean Connery "high noon" in space. George Clooney? "Peacemaker" nuclear weapons and Nicole Kidman. Sandy B? "Two weeks notice". No space, no explosions, Hugh grant and a time limit. Luv ya, bye.
This is a fun, movie. They really pushed the 3D aspect when it came out. Great reaction, Jen. I could really tell how tense you were during this.
Side note: it's also cool that you mentioned your TV, as I always seem to imagine reactors watching these movies on a laptop or iPad or something and thinking that often times a little something is "lost" watching on a display so small. Glad you can react and watch on your TV. 😀

The main CGI effect in this movie is the fact that there is no Glass in their helmets, so they reflect only what you would see in space.
This movie is the definition of a white-knuckle ride. I could still remember when it was all over. My hands actually hurt from gripping the seat! same with my wife. Watching it with you I feel like I've got PTSD
When I saw this in the cinema, the scene where she gets detached and is spinning off head over heels made me violently retch. I was wound so tightly, it affected my gag reflex.
Great movie. Usually Jen you are real good with your reactions and enjoyment of the movie, but this time you were absolutely great. I don't remember you talking to us viewers, you were talking with the movie and to the movie. You were so into, engrossed with this movie. It seems you never let us down.
A great series to watch is "The Expanse" it's a show that puts a lot of effort into getting the science right and it's now my favourite TV show off all time. If you like movies might "The Martian" and "Gravity" then you should definitely watch "The Expanse". It's also been described as "Game of Thrones in Space". A really great show that I'm 100% sure you will love!

I think not having any communication, nor cutting away to NASA etc, upped the tension and horror of the isolation and the utter fear of being on your own with NO help. Nail-bitingly and "edge-of-your-seat" pulse driving movie!! How many of us were clawing the air as she was trying to grab onto something?
I REALLY got afraid for her after she landed. I thought that the parachute was going to float onto her, tangle her and pull her down!!

Jen, once again terrific choice! Dramas about problem solving in a hostile environment always make for great Cinema, Apollo 13, 2001 a Space Odyssey, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The environment itself becomes a crucial character. Love your choices, love your reactions. Always here for them all.

The thought that I was trying to convey, is that film makers have been using the recipe of working through a crisis in a difficult environment many times. The film " Flight of the Phoenix " is a perfect example of that scenario. Quickly getting back to period films worth mentioning, I really think that the movie " Zulu " with Michael Caine is an excellent choice. It actually mixes environment with indigenous peoples in a time of crisis and culture. The only reason that I had mentioned " 20,000 Leagues under the Sea " is in that time period, underwater scenarios were not prevalent. And humans had not yet mastered working in that environment.
@@e.d.2096 Yes, Eric, '20000 Leagues Under the Sea' is a great choice, a little known fact is that we know more about what's in space than we do about what's under the sea! 'Zulu' is yet another great film choice particularly as it based on a real story, it was one of the most embarrassing defeats for the British army at the time too, the film does a great job of showing what went wrong. 'Flight of The Phoenix' 2004 is another great story, I prefer 'The Flight of The Phoenix' from 1965 more though, although both films are good. I think that, Jen, will have some great films to choose from in the coming months with the suggestions.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Hello Adam, another film That I would like to mention. " Once Apon a Time in Hollywood " Tarantino's latest endeavor. I did actually live in California during that time. My father was stationed at an air force base north of Los Angeles. The Manson murders completely changed the landscape of Hollywood at that time. It was in the late 60s, but it was a much simpler time. The event sent shockwaves through out the state and the country. The way he depicted L.A. was absolutely perfect. The streets. Billboards. Clothing styles, even radio commercials were spot on. If you have not seen it,
I do highly recommend it. But if you don't know much about Sharon Tate, or the Manson family, I would suggest to do a little research on the subject.
@@e.d.2096 Yes, sadly, I do know about Manson and the family, The Beatles - White Album and what he thought he could hear in its tracks particularly 'Helter Skelter', The Spahn Ranch and all of that, 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' is the only Tarantino film that I've yet to see, I'll have to get around to seeing it, I've heard mixed reviews, mostly good about it.

As for suggestions of similar films; '2001: A Space Odyssey', and the follow up '2010: The Year We Make Contact', 'Apollo 13', and another couple of space related ones (sort of) which I think that you'll enjoy, 'Contact' from 1997 and 'Interstellar' from 2014.
Another great space movie is First Man, with Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy. It's based on Neil Armstrong's life and the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. Very inspiring and the visuals are awesome!

This was an awesome watch in the cinema, only time I've found 3D any good. One of the most technologically advanced movies at the time, Ironic for a movie all about technological isolation ( and re-birth ). The soundtrack is amazing, Lisa Hannigan singing during the re-entry sequence is epic. One of my all time favourites.
I'll need to rewatch & pay more attention to the music, I was so focused on the story 👍👍

It was the first Sci Fi movie to win Best Director.
In all the space movies I have ever seen since I was a kid way back in the 70's, this one just blew my mind in 3D. Almost everything you see is photo-real CGI. In fact, there's so much composes this movie, you could almost call it an animated feature. I would encourage you to take a look at how the FX were done in, it took about 5 years to make and they invented technology to do it including a camera mounted on a large robotic arm like those for welding cars together.

Gravity was definitely great .. Have you ever seen the film “Sunshine” (2007) it’s a beautiful and underrated sci-fi/space movie directed by Danny Boyle and also features a tremendous cast!

With the exception of Avatar, this was my favorite 3D theater movie..
The scene of her drifting into the inky abyss of space is one of the most stomach dropping scenes of the movie.

I came home from work and saw this had just been posted today. I couldn't wait until tomorrow to see your reaction to this amazing movie. It is so well done and, you're right, it does really give The Martian a run for its money with you being right on the edge of your seat.
I'm not good with heights so this was one of the scariest movies I've ever watched - it really does that good a job of giving you the sense of being "up there"!
