Decades ago, we rented a townhouse with nicely cleaned beige carpet and freshly painted beige walls. Something was off, and it took me a while to recognize the problem. The walls were pink beige, and the carpet was yellow beige, so they clashed horribly. It was an excellent lesson I have applied to my closet and decorating ever since. Thank you for another excellent video.

Beige makes me very washed out. I love the red scarf outfit, brings life to beige. I feel beige looks good on darker skin. Love the video, thank you so much. So interesting! I had a similar experience. Due to a water leak , I had to replace all the wall-to-wall carpet in my house. It was a wam beige. And I had walls to match. I chose a cool blue for my new carpet. Boy, did the cool carpet and warm beige walls hae each other! I repainted my entire house in cool-but-vibrant hues and I could love my house again.
Most of your videos cover outdoor looks, which gives great ideas. I would appreciate it if you could make some videos for the indoor formal dressing combinations, too
E.g in indoor parties we don't usually keep the big bag carrying with us throughout and takes off our jackets and coats too which will minus the colours used in bags /jackets/shoes in our indoor look.

Wow this is advanced stuff! I am 70, with all white hair and skin with warm undertone. I am more into bold colours, but have some neutrals too. I have just gone and checked my wardrobe: my one beige cable knit jumper is a cool beige. My velvet leopard print biker is also in cool shades. Thanks to your advice, I am going to try and improve the harmony of my outfits

Ellena, this video is so helpful! I like to start with neutral basics and then add color in accessories but never knew how to choose the accessory colors or tones. Your tip about matching the amount of grey in the accessories to the amount of grey in the outfit makes sense but wasn’t intuitive to me. Thanks again for a great video. ❤
Great video. This is a lesson I learned while in highschool. I'm a winter and was trying on the same blouse but in different beige shades (actually looking for the one that looked best with a certain skirt). I donned a warm beige and instantly, dark circles appeared under my eyes, my skin looked deathly pale, and I actually thought "why do I look dead?". Went back to cool beige and looked healthy. Lesson learned. I didn't really understand cool and warm tones, I just knew that I wanted a blueish beige. 😊

I love your videos, started with how to mix colors and adore it since then! Can you do a video about basic colors this time lighter beiges? Like creams, ecru and whites? How to mix the and how to recognise if a light beige is cool or warm etc.
I weared beige quite a lot in the past, but didn´t know how to properly combine it. At some point I decided to go with a more colorful palette and beige started to extinct in my wardrobe. As a Soft and Light (and somewhat Cool) coloring type, I prefer wearing slightly muted tints, like cool pastels, and tones, to wearing shades. Just a refresher: tints have white added, tones have gray (black and white) added, and shades have black added, respectively, to the hue, or basic color, like red, green, blue, yellow, etc. The amount of gray added to hues controls the softness (mutedness), or the reverse, the clarity, of the color. The amount of white or black makes colors 1.lighter or 2. darker, respectively, and is called the value. Most people look best in either 1. muted, or 2. clear, bright colors, I’m in the first group. For value, I prefer light to medium colors because I’m so pale, nothing looks as bad on me as black does. Learning which of these two variables suits one best is a big help in choosing flattering colors to wear; value and clarity are as important as color undertone, that is, warm neutral, or cool.

THANK YOU for discussing the beige color undertones. I am Hispanic with mid-dark skin. Everyone thinks I have a warm undertone but I don't! I find it difficult to find the 'right' beige -because a lot of them have that yellow tone in it. My friend thinks I am crazy LOL but I know!! So I stick to greys and blues with a touch of reds. Jewelry I only wear silver

I love the level of colour detail you provide in your videos it’s so helpful. I’m soft and cool so my palette tends to be muted but I do love to use accent colours which help lift my outfits. When it comes to leopard print I suit a light blue and grey as opposed to the traditional leopard print. I do like to wear greige as opposed to beige as the latter just washes me out. I love scarves so that is usually the way I bring colour in. Thank you Ellena for your great content. ❤

Thank you for another excellent video, Ellena! I am a bright winter undertone (cool, vibrant and richer hues suit me best.) My skin changes drastically with the seasons - pale to very deep tan, and my skin's overtones change as well, but that blue is always present underneath. I look best in taupes, stones, greige, and cool beiges with a hint of red or violet in them. I look sickly & washed out in warm beiges. Neutral beiges are even tricky for me if they veer warm, so I stick to cool. Your excellent videos are helping me recapture my former passion for personal style - mixing modern trends into classic style. I really like your effortless, slightly edgy approach to fashion - very elegant, yet not stuffy or boring at all. You keep it fun and interesting! Thank you Ellena, I have been waiting for this. Beige is so much more complicated than other colors and it is challenging to find the right beige. I had brown and now I have silver white - the color of natural linen - so a cool beige, and my skin tone is much cooler. The transition has been most challenging. You have helped immensely.

I have silver grey hair now with hazel green eyes .
I find now i look better wearing more lipstick too .
Brings my coloring out more brighter.
I like beige but it is hard to not look washed out now .
Before with my brown hair it worked better with my coloring.
I do look really good in grey as long as i wear lipstick . 😊
I never liked beige because I am so beige, myself. Blond is nice but can be a drawback in that case. Now that I’ve gotten a little bit darker, I am beginning to use it with contrasting accent colors and some textures for a little bit of ‘punch’. Thanks for your guidance!

I have slightly cool undertone skin, and I had hard time finding neutral colored outfits that suit me. I had to avoid color brown completely because it makes me look much older than I am... Thanks to this super informative video, now I know why and what kinds of beige and brown outfits actually look good on me. I am super happy to have more colors to choose from. :)

I’ve been wearing beige for 25yrs (ever since I moved out of NYC where I wore mostly black like everyone else there.) You explained the intricacies very well! It’s not easy to do. I have a friend who painted her kitchen 3 times! because she couldn’t understand. I have warm and cool pieces (when the item didn’t come in warm 🙄.) It takes a masterful hand, or shall we say eye, to get it right. People even began teasing me for always wearing beige, implying it was not adventuresome. But they actually always followed by saying how glamorous. 🙌🏽
