      @@braininjury-ptsddoisurvive3484Yes I have gotten better and better looking as I aged. As a woman of 76 I would say I am the best I have ever looked FOR MY AGE...I look much younger than I am. I have no fillers or surgery but have used Retin A and sunscreen for decades. I wear what flatters my Kibbe style and being a Spring I wear almost exclusively light colors brightening my face further. I have a small houglass figure and am 5ft 4in.
      Do I look 20 or 30 or even 40 or 50 no, but very few 76 yr olds understand their body type, coloring , and most importantly have built an extremely happy life. When you are happy it shows...you smile readily, are warm, friendly😊, open to others and genuinely content. I am a retired clinical psychology professor...years of untreated anxiety or depression radiates from the face and body, it affects posture, movement, and no clothing or cosmetic can counteract that, heartbreakingly so.
      Pain also shows, not just psychological pain, but physical pain too. For years I suffered from bad disc surgery...eventually I found relief and it dramatically changed my appearance. I do have neck curvature but it is disguised with shoulder length hair that flatters my face as well. Being a psychologist I worked on my quality of life...my interior attitudes and psychology were far more important to me than my exterior and it paid off for me in my current looks. Rather like a hairdresser having lovely hair.
      I know the things to do to keep positive as I have aged, keep learning, have an active intelligent mind and interest in others, dont become obsessive about oneself...even the physical pain...find ways to cope if you can. All we are affects how we look to others.
      The saying that if you are beautiful at 20, you cant take credit, your genes are responsible but if you are beautiful at 80 you EARNED that..... seems about right. There are people who just radiate in their later life....not saying I am one. But I definitely am one of the positive ones.

They divided each season into three sub-sections, so Winter became Cool Winter, Deep Winter, and Bright Winter. Some Winters soften out of Winter altogether into one of the Summer palettes (Cool, Soft, or True).

I find dark brown, grey, or navy work so much better. You are so right about the red /black combo. Able to easily carty it off in my 30s, years ago, now I feel old in it! Regarding wearing high contrast outfits like black and white...I am in my 60s, cool toned, have light skin, light eyes, and dark salt and pepper hair (mostly pepper). Since I myself am high contrast I thought I would look good in high contrast outfits. How about black by my face? My main neutral is navy and that looks much softer but I still love wearing black. Maybe black looks harsh on you because you are light all around.

    I think the black outfit itself wouldn’t be so terrible on you, but the fact, that your jacket is extremely oversized and not properly fitted is a huge problem.
    It would be the same issue with any color though.
    Including the beige jacket .
    Fit is just as important as color, if not more.
    Some people think oversized garments can solve all their problems.
    Huge misconception.
    Also, in my opinion a mom Jean can never make you look younger, unless you are 6 foot tall, and less than 90 lbs , like a model… than it doesn’t matter. 😆

      I agree completely about ovesized clothes. It doesn't look flattering on anyone. It makes everybody shapeless, and no oversized piece can look elegant. If people think they hide their weight or imperfections wearing oversized unfitted clothes they look worse, the only fool themselves and keep putting on weight since they have no size or limit to tell them when it is enough. Thin people also look bad in ovesized clothes, they resemble hangers with clothes, they have no bodies, just clothes walking around without a person. And all those loose trousers, too long, how can anyone imagine it is nice. These days stylist are not familiar with good, style rules that are ever relevant. Omg, those too long trousers with sneakers, it looks like clowns in circuses. This stylist is a small thin woman, doesn't look feminine in all that overszed clothes. Maybe she just likes to look like that. She is sweet and lovely, but she thinks she knows everything. Anyway she is lovely and has good intentions. I guess many women have good sense of what suits them well and have better sense of style than many professional stylists.

    Thank you for this video. There are several YT videos about colors, how to use them, dark and light shades...etc. I noticed seldom anyone mentions scarves. I often prefer to wear monochrome colors, because I am only 5,5 and a half feet tall and so I can try to look taller.
    I also happen to like darker colors and in order to bring lighter shades to my face I often wear a scarf in a matching shade, but a lot lighter. Sometimes even very colorful scarves. If not, at least I then have pieces of jewelry. I love square silk scarves, - never those very thick or long ones, because they give me the feeling as if I would have a blanket around my throat. Even those small, square " kitten scarves " bring more life into the outfit. Those are the smaller ones that can be tied around the neck and made into a small bow. Regards from
    northern Europe.

    I'm so happy to find your channel! Such wonderful advice for those of us moving on to a new season of life. I have tended to use black as a default color so often but then was not satisfied with the results. The styles and cuts were classic yet I felt washed out. Now I'm going invest in more navy blue. I will now look at my wardrobe in a completely different light. A few years ago I made the decision to continue to color my graying hair primarily because I absolutely hated the way it drowned out my color. After working with my colorist we landed on a light brunette with golden highlights which makes my face glow. It's funny because it is now the color it naturally was when I was 16. I love it. These details make a huge difference on my overall well being.

    Maybe part of the reason you look so much 'older' in the colours you don't suggest is because you have your arms crossed, you're frowning, and you look overall grumpy. No one looks good when they look angry or pissed off.

    I always love the picture examples but I think we need to replace the word OLDER with just UNHEALTHY. Quite frankly older is inevitable but unhealthy is what dull skin, thin skin, sagging skin and loss of brightness is about. Older is not a sin and we need to change the ideals we’ve come to accept about it because it makes it seem like the older we get the less beauty we will radiate and that’s just NOT True. 💓💐🌻

    • @sweettreatsoverload4296
      @sweettreatsoverload4296 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Unhealthy is not good either maybe mature. Plenty of mature people don't have those qualities

    • @dianeshelton9592
      @dianeshelton9592 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      As you say older is inevitable and no sin.
      I am older than I was , my skin tone is uneven due to past sun damage, nothing I can do about that now . However I look after my skin very well now and it is very healthy, plump , and not dull, minimal wrinkling ,certainly not unhealthy. So as an older person I am fine with being called older,I need to know how to make what I have the best it can look. I object a lot to being called unhealthy, certainly my skin is not unhealthy other than the unevenness of sun damage from when it was not known how dangerous it was.
      Equating unhealthy with older is a very damaging thought, older is natural, unhealthy is not an inevitable consequence of being older.

    I think you'd look great in just about anything but I do see how choosing the right colors could help me. I discovered by chance how much better navy looks on me than black, probably for the reasons you mentioned. It brightens up my complexion. I used to avoid it thinking that it was too hard to coordinate navy with other colors, big mistake.

I definitely found the white T shirt look with almost anything, under sweaters , jackets has been my staple for many years! And also no longer enjoy wearing black for same reasons. Too bad in plus size shops it seams everything is black!!! or Red. yuck

    Everyone looks good in blue, the most flattering color. Green-light green, is youthful, so is peachy lipstick. Pearls soften older women’s appearance. Use a strawberry pink lipstick, or wine instead of bright red lipstick that looks more natural. Brownish lipsticks make teeth look whiter over fuchsia and red lipsticks. I agree with not wearing black unless your younger, browns, navy, teal moroon and wines are softer. Dye hair next to scalp one shade darker than highlights for a natural look. Try to find natural blond shades like ash blond. Some light reds look good, (and like light green clothing) adds vitality to your look.

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've observed that a lot of older women not make the mistake in dying their hair too dark, but too bright or intense. Solid black hair looks awful on older women, but so do bright/intense reds and bright blonde. Just to say for anyone reading this.

    My hair is white grey around face and grey and black away from face. Bleaching is damaging and causes hair loss. I am letting my hair stay natural even though it doesn’t go with my skin tone (warm and tanned).
    I don’t wear much black during the day. Full face paint with night time lighting is more forgiving to wear black. I do love jewel tone colors against tanned skin.
